Enjoyed the vlog though did not quite understand why it was titled has Pattaya lost the Gen Xers. As a fellow Gene Xer who first came to Pattaya in the early 1990s, the transformation of Pattaya and the skyline over the last 30 years is nothing short of stunning. Who would have believed that an international Jazz Festival on a clean Pattaya Beach with cool cafes, new wine bars, a spectacular lifestyle, leisure mall (Central Festival) would be on Beach Road, all those years ago and now new announcements of five star hotels, Marriot and Kimpton being built there. As a number of us age, we prefer going to a nice restaurant in Pattaya and then being in bed by 11 pm than propping up a beer bar. A number of us have already gone through a health crisis and or had good friends die due to liver cirrhosis so we have radically reduced our consumption of alcohol and made requisite lifestyle changes.
Statistically, Gen-Z and Millenials are the poorest demographics and SEA remains the most affordable holiday destination, especially if you are staying for 2 weeks or more. Another factor is retirement, older generation could retire much earlier, so it made sense to save during working career for a long retirement but with younger people looking to retire earliest in their 70's, they don't get to really experience the "golden years" and it makes more sense to travel and enjoy life when they are still in good health.
Not sure that I agree, but the older people can retire earlier. Because many are still trying to retire in Wellington their 60s, but I appreciate your comment. Thank you very much.
As an X myself the reason is quite clear. From around 2008 - the rise of the baht, the digital age, and the influx of mass tourism from India and China etc the golden era was over for most X's (save for a short period during the emergence from the pandemic when it seemed like the old days). Although the food options have improved Pattaya is definitely a colder and more soulless place than the old days, but we still have our great memories.
The bar became stronger because the country has emerged and he’s not a Third World country anymore. Better tourism, bigger manufacturing and agriculture than most western countries. Well done to Thailand I say. Thank you very much for your comment.
@ Totally agree and given the state of the UK at present I really envy their social cohesion, but I think the answer to the question of the video is still a valid one.
Yep, smart phones (combined with the pandemic) also killed it, making anything half decent mercenary - at least in high season which, as phil has said, is furry muff. Wall to wall cringey jeets and unsmiling russians also doesn't make for a great atmosphere imho.
My generation is F***ED basically. most of us don't have children to pay for that's the first thing, many of us are still single, i'm sitting on a house deposit but cant a get a bloody mortgage and the starter houses START at 450,000 what else am I going to do with my money if not go on holiday and many of us also don't go out at home its to expensive and lots of places are closed I cant be arrsed with it. save up and go abroad
This man knows his shit and speaks the truth, well done buddy, but listen u keep fighting for that mortgage, its the best way forward, i know my generation had it easy and i feel sorry for my genZ kids, but property investment will set you free. I bought my 1st aged 24, i retired at 50 and live off 3 rental properties. You can still achieve it but you gotta be very savvy, look at buying your 1st property away from your area where prices are lower then rent it out at least ur on the ladder and making a small profit
Your generation is getting what globalisation and open borders has left on the table. Basicaly feelgood policies. Imposters in governments. So you wont be able to earn and eventually own an asset. Add the climate change religion to that, add all the 'dont do this and that' because its dangerous now. The music plays in the developing world. This is where people comment about safety and child labor or some conditions. What western countries coined poluters and unions called for high wages and governments increases income taxes, Greens did their part for emissions. All this moved all to Asia.
I was born in 1970 and I first went to Pattaya in 1996. You speak about the education of today's youth and the technology, but us lot learned how to start a fire, build a shelter, stand up for ourselves, history, decency... etc. We were young men when we first went to Pattaya and the girls screamed at us, there was also a lot of older white guys sat with younger beauties, I remember thinking that was cool. I would like to think that it was better for us back in the day... and it probably was.
Can’t agree more.I was born in 1970 and live was a hole lot better.we got out and done stuff after school.outside.not indoors with a poxy phone 📱 stuck to your head..
I too was born in the great year of 1970. We definitely had to improvise more and figure out solutions thru our common sense. I find that sense not to be as common these days with my adult children
When you said you weren’t GenX when you first went to Thailand, you’ve always been gen x it’s not a age it’s when you were born , it’s about the era you grew up
They come to Pattaya for the same reason as the rest of us...the lifestyle. Cheaper rents, cheaper food, good weather, friendly/party atmosphere, and yes, easy access to women. Back in the UK prices are ridiculous, housing, going out and according to my gen z friends the dating scene is terrible.
@@LePubPattaya People can code, sell or do customer service, online therapy, counselling etc. anywhere. Stayed on Ko Samet and there was a girl in hostel doing speech therapy for the NHS. She said she'd told them she was in Dubai.
Your delirious, you came to pattaya coz of white needs, not asian needs. We white guys who wanted SE Asia never went to Pattaya, we have great lifes other places
A lot of Gen X and younger will never retire, and those that do will struggle to stay in one place, they get bored too easily. Experiences is what they are after, they come here for a few weeks holiday, party a lot and move on to the next experience. Talking to a lot of the girls they understand this too, that's why they still are looking for the stability of a relationship with an older man. Unfortunately not many of the girls want to stay in and around Pattaya, they want to move overseas or back "home" with their families in Isan.
I am Gen X and Proud. We actually played outside. Our playgrounds were made of steel and if you fell there was Gravel or cement. You jumped over your friends with your Bicycle/ aka Push bike without a helmet and if I got hurt My parents did not sue everyone or, made them make the Playground plastic with safe rounded corners over Softcrete aka Nerf for nerds. People talked to each other in public or on the bus, There was no one with a cell phone stuck to their face. And any man that had anything close to the idiotic Man-Bun was banished to a faraway land. or ER
I'm a "boomer" and I got/built my first home computer in 1982. It was something of a rarity back then. When I see "digital nomads" now, I am so envious of their youth, as opposed to my youth. Then again, my working career was while decent pensions were still a thing, so in the big picture, I'm quite happy with how things worked out. But I'm still wistful over all the informational resources that are easily available now that were not available then.
As a millennial I found this incredibly offensive, specifically the stereotyping. I furiously threw off my man bag in the middle of lining up my beard purely to write this comment!!!!! How dare you!!! For shame Mr Egg 😂😂😂👀 (ps, excellent video - greetings from down under 🇦🇺)
Hi Phil. Thanks for another insightful video. When we came to Pattaya for the first time 20 odd years ago, you are right, we stood out! Being around 30 years old, we were not the typical Pattaya tourist. The typical Pattaya tourists were, as you mention, the 45-60 year olds. Now the 45-60 year olds are the Generation X, us, and it is (as I see it) still the predominant age group visiting Pattaya (that is when it comes to Western Farang men). However, younger men are not a rare sight in Pattaya these days, unlike back then. In those days, as you say, we had to work back home to earn money. There were no short cuts. Flights were more expensive, and Pattaya was probably perceived as a somewhat unsafe place. So it was not the first place a 20 or a 30 year old would consider as a holiday destination. Nowadays, younger men have to some extent swapped out Benidorm and Ibiza with Pattaya. All there is to know and what-not-to-do's can be found at a click of a button. We had four lines on Pattaya in an outdated Lonely Planet guide book. Also, the total price of two weeks in Pattaya today is probalby equal to two weeks in Spain. Moreover, young people have more disposable income, and they have more means of achieving that income: You mention crypto and working abroad. But also vlogging, influencing, sponsorships, online hustling etc. To summarize: A lot more young men in Pattaya today, but still mostly geriactrics like us. 😊
I agree that youngsters are coming to Pattaya rather than Ibiza or Benidorm. It just depresses me a bit. Not because they are younger and more “virile”, it’s just their behavior. They have trouble sitting down. Love the comment about Lonely Planet. To my recollection, those two sentences that we got were simply don’t bother going.
Me and my friends in the bar were just discussing this. At the table of knowledge! It might be cheaper if you live in Nevada, but certainly according to my friends who go to Vegas it’s a lot more expensive than here.
I'm a millennial, but I'm an old soul and closer to GenX in mindset. When I was just there I only hung out with old guys and young ladies. It's hard to say what people my age (40ish) are thinking. I would've loved to have experienced Pattaya in simpler times.
Every thing changes , bar world is changing, Pattaya is changing, example… coffee shops were not big in west then one generation 20 years ago made that popular hence Starbucks etc was born , it was bars after war but they are slowly dieing off as next generation pumps through life , disposable income has shrunk, trips to Thailand to carve up soi6 and walking street those days of disposable income for lower class have gone , inflation and COVID changed world people don’t trust politicians or media on same level ….latest crypto pump will help because those guys in last 6 weeks have had a tremendous run , I’m a non crypto guy but good luck to them they got paid of late ,
Not sure I agree that the generations after Gen X (xillenials and millenials, specifically) are wealthier. Quite the opposite, boomers and gen x eclipsed wealth-wise. Previous generations always had it better than the previous one, but from xillenials, the trend was broken. Owning a house (and a car even) has become a struggle.
It's not unfair im a gen x (just) born in 77. Internet came in towards the end of my secondary school education. So we were partially exposed to it. I remote work too its not unfair it just represents a different set of pros and cons, less job security for more flexibility, maybe better pay for less workers rights, and as a remote worker you are never truly able to "switch off" for long periods of time. So it's just different
I see a lot of people working remotely. They make a huge success of it and others that don’t. I think it all really depends on individual concern, duvet have the ability to self discipline and also what time zone they’re working in.
@LePubPattaya yeah you've got to be very disciplined, I did the the office working thing for years and years so I don't miss it at all, remote working with some headphones on listening to youtube videos or podcasts is bliss to me
Pattaya is a craphole compared to Bangkok. As a Gen Xer I would rather spend my money on quality hotels and food options than 500 baht ‘guest houses’ and 50 baht bowls of noodles.
70 baht to £1 the first time I visited. 42 now if you are lucky. Maybe if you are a train driver, MP, judge but normal tax paying people can't afford the trip any more.
@@LePubPattaya Lazy workforce is only because successive uk govts make it so with free housing & bennys for all comers. Be careful not to blame the victims!
I was a teenager working in London Piccadilly during the swinging 60's. Guess that makes me a pre GENX person. Looking around these days the world has alot more plastic people who don't know their arse from their elbow.
I am here in Pattaya the young side of Gen X not 50 yet. I founded my company when I turned 18, never had a "real job" I work online and have lived in 20+ different countries. Now I am relaxing and have a Thai GF, I don't plan on moving any more just vacations around Asia.
Nice reflection on the recent generations! As a fellow (American) GenXer, I am frequently chagrined at how quickly I went from being a young person trying to fight my way up to an older person withstanding blows from new young people trying to fight their way up, although they often don’t appear to be having to fight so hard as I have to fight just trying to keep myself as young as possible!
I think as long as younger people are able to find places like Pattaya, or Thailand and Southeast Asia in general, that have a much lower cost of living and better weather and more fun nightlife....they'll keep coming. Cost of living is a huge factor in deciding to live and work abroad. I mean, the cost to rent an apartment/flat here in the states can easily cost $1,500 USD a month for just a studio...and that's just an unfurnished, zero amenities unit. Then you have to add your utility costs and your other monthly costs on top of that. Younger people know now that for jus the cost of monthly rent in their home country, they can pay for their entire monthly budget in Patttaya. Bearing that in mind, why not take a lower paying remote job and move to paradise as a young person? Hell, if I had the seed money, I'd already be there.
Great video sir. Vintage 1977 myself. First visit to Thailand about 9 years ago. Honestly can’t believe how much things have changed since then, COVID situation, generationally, demographics blah blah. Idk, maybe I’ve changed too. Hope to return in February and visit your place but I won’t be taking my old, tired, sunshine deprived, Yankee self to any of the new nightclubs down on walking street… Cheers/Song kee ow krup
Yes, when I listen to the playback on this, I realized I was Gen X. Sorry what I meant was I wasn’t the same as as I am now if that makes sense. Thanks for pointing that out.
@LePubPattaya that makes perfect sense, and thanks for replying! (I never expect a RUclipsr to reply to me directly!). When I have enough money and freedom I'll visit you in LePub and say hi. Possibly in 2030 😂

I do notice younger people here in chaing Mai and Pattaya as well. What I dont notice is many younger people in the adult areas. I see them walking by and looking, but the percentage of customers seems to be over 40 and mostly over 50. Just my observations
Good point. I think that many young people have been tainted by the Western media and so are too scared to go into the bars and talk to the ladies. Hope you’re enjoying yourself up north.
@@LePubPattaya Don't think they're too scared - they just see it as a bit cringe which is not an unfair assessment tbh. Also, LOADS of people openly playing with their phones in bars so maybe not too keen on getting filmed. If they 'do' they prorbaly order online as thats where the best price x quality ratio is.
Well boys if you enjoy Pattaya and the vibe, you can thank the United States Government. Yep, once Pattaya was designated as a place for R&R (rest and relaxation) Pattaya grew existential from a sleepy fishing village to what it is today. The boys needed a place to go for a few weeks away from the Vietnam war. The girls, they go to where the boys are. Simple as that. I am a Vietnam Era Vet.

I've always heard that in Life all of the Legends in this world first start out as a Paper Boy around 13 years of age. Knew I started off on the right track all those years ago. Nice video Phil as someone who is a few years older than yourself found what you had to say very interesting & poignant. Also as a sidenote really enjoyed your special guest appearance on Nick Dean's Xmas video from the other day. Do you get Royalties for that by any chance I mean you did some great scene stealing there & the joke about many chins was an oldie but still quite funny.
One take....and no crib sheet................impressive...............................In 5-10 years, I reckon that Thailand will be pretty much unaffordable for the demographic that has tradionally retired/long stayed in the Kingdom. One will need a healthy retirement pot/pension in the coming years................the country used to be an almost undiscovered niche, now it's a free for all and it's uniqueness has been diluted....................................................More importantly imo, it's not the Wild West anymore and almost aligns with the West in regards to many regulations. but, hey....................................The Thais haven't really changed, they are still the main element that attracts me to the country.................
Thank you for the first comment, you’re the only person that noticed! And I didn’t have a crib sheet. I still think with the house prices booming in most Western countries that our generation will still be able to afford to come in a few years, but I might be proving wrong. Thank you for your comment.
No, you've lost the boomers. When I first visited Pattaya in 1999 and then moved there in 2/2002, everything was smooth. People all got along together regardless of what was their nationality. Everyone meshed together. The only problem I could see coming down the pike was yaba. Before I moved to Thailand, but on my first visit, (99) I read an article in the BKK Post about the yaba "problem." Being from the US, I said to myself, "You don't have a problem yet!" I moved to another country in 2010, and I watch the Pattaya news on utube, and there isn't a day that goes by that violence isn't being committed against foreigners. The boomers have either died or have returned to their home countries for medical reasons.
I appreciate your comment, but please don’t believe all the negativity coming out of the patty news organizations on RUclips. Negativity gets clicked and that’s why they always talk about it. Living here it’s much the same as it was back in 99 when I was here.
Maybe Gen Z/millenial have nothing to worry about/lose, but I wonder Gen X may be more worried about their reputation back home (in management positions, more of their friends/colleagues having an opinion over how women are treated/perceived etc.). No longer can you travel to Thailand/Pattaya and be off the radar for a couple of weeks in secret - now you're always connected, and more liable than ever to appear seen on social media and be judged when you don't want to be. People's private lives and views are more open and are no longer seen as independent from their professional ones. I wonder if Gen X have more to lose from being (mis)judged by being seen to be associated with engaging in some aspects of Pattaya life? If you do a "what will Pattaya be like in 10 years time" video that would be interesting, I see the world outside Pattaya changing a lot and I can't believe social pressures won't force the night life scene there to change too. But, who knows, Gen Z might become rich mongers too.
Thank you for making a very valid point that I’ve never really thought of. The British mainstream media’s portrayal of Pattaya is always negative as you have pointed out. And to be honest, there’s a lot to be negative about, but people never talk about the positives. Thank you for your comment.
As part of Gen Z, I can tell you that most people in my generation still don't have the disposable income to come to Pattaya. The thing is that the first thought for those who do earn good money, who like you said now often work online, is to get out of the West asap - because things are just going so badly over there. As a non-tattooed, non-manbag wearing traveller. I can tell you there's a mix of young guys who come to Pattaya. I roll my eyes at the young folk who refuse to pay barfines and think they're above the girls. But I do think the young guys who spend well are inevitably very popular with the girls.
Yes, if they’re spending and kind of know the rules of the town, but those like you mentioned who have a superiority complex will find it difficult over here. I hope you can come and visit us soon.
@@LePubPattaya 06:28 Ignore the BS, most of these digital nomads are living on savings or parents money, many want you to think they are earning money through crypto, drop shipping etc just so they can sell you their pointless little course on it. They pretend they're above the girls/barfining because they simply don't have the money and expect it for free.
@@Khaochow why would you as a young guy not try to pick up western girls and not paying money for s*x if you can? If you’re young and at least funny if not good looking, you have zero problems getting laid.
nothing stands still, and i agree the covid years have become a watershed for many people (including me).. i have noticed more younger people knocking around, but i just assumed it was because of the legalisation of dope..

If you're a healthy and technically minded boomer you may have had a good life and reaping the benefits of today's technology. But I'm sorry GenX are by far the luckiest when you think of averages. You were born after the war your childhood was marred with shortages, poverty and grief, you left school before computers came to school or even university. Many of you worked in dirty industry and mines. Gen X on the other hand got taught IT in the class room and all through uni as it became more wide spread and more capable, mines were closing as we were in our teens, only a few made it underground before they finally closed the hole, barely time to damage their lungs. Most genX are technically savvy having been introduced to it in their teens, allowing them to easily grow with it. Our childhoods were colourful, our boomer parents stayed together and built real families, sadly lost from genX onwards making childhood a bitter battleground in most homes thanks to social media and selfishness. No 100% genX are the luckiest generation
@@OsianLedger Duh. Xers had degenrate boomer 'parents' (50%+ DIVrrced) which is maybe the worst thing to happen to anygroup ever. This lead to 'helicopter parenting' as a reaction to parents who didn't parent. Also boomers could buy a 4 bed house on a shop assistant salary and now rent them out for a squillion £££s a month to fuel their viagra & --- habits in patts. Boomers had the easiest ride ever: cheap prices, no wars, govt handouts rNHS and final salary pension schemes. Western countries have gon to s*** on their watch. Other than all that, yeah they're great :/
You were still a Gen X when you arrived at 29 years old dude, lol. Your generation is based on your year of birth not your age. I find it hard to believe someone British born around that time didn't know what Gen X was before looking it up. Billy Idol literally had a group named after it!
Guilty as charged. When I played back the tape of what I’ve recorded I real realized my mistake, but left it in there and hope nobody would notice! Thanks for pointing it out and I appreciate your comment.
In the home countries like uk bars are dead now that culture has gone now the upcoming youth are in to fitness and heathy eating and making money fair play i was in Pattaya in late November the bars were dead
You are wrong abot the Marine Disco in the late 80s and 90s is was Fantastic a large dance floor with boxes on each side were girls use to dance on. And there where 3/1 girls to the guys and it did have a good light show it was 100% great place to go to find a girl with no bar find it was a great end to the night and if you where not to drunk you headed to Marine disco two. Now they have nightclubs that are more expensive with chairs and tables covering the floor so dancing at your table which is crap as you can not walk around as much. If I had the money I would have the club dance floor the same as the Old marine disco where you can stand around and watch the girls dancing and having fun not stuck to a table dancing on the spot. But the thing now is there is not 3/1 in favour of the ladies as there is to many guys now and younger guys at that. I holidayed to pattaya for over 20yrs in the 90s but it is not the same as it once was it has gone down hill and I Noticed that every year I visited that it was changing so made up my mind to not go back my last holiday was 2016/2017 so thats it. Now 65yrs and looking for a relaxing cheap holiday in Europe where you can get more for your money and have more to spend.
Thank you for your comment. I get your point about Marine disco. I was always surprised when I saw the tables on the dance floor, but that is just Thai style and I believe it is part of the licensing conditions now. Don’t really go to the disco that much so I can’t really say About being able to charm the local lovelies, but you have to admit they look a lot better now. I stand by my comment that it looks like a piece of trash, although it may have been better. Thank you once again for your comments.

The younger people, especially Gen z have this truck load of information in their heads, but they certainly don’t know what they want to do with that. But they do have a ton of options than previous generations. Also, for most younger people, retirement isn’t an option and they’re already prepared at the back of their heads that they will have to work as long as they’re physically and mentally functional. The Gen z and to an extent the millennials born in the 90s are the least likely to own homes or to get married and have a family, there’s ton of research showing that, so saving or working in an old schooled way for the silver years is not an option for them.
small correction... the ladys dont love younger or older... they love money... you are in pattaya dont forgett
25 years ago you relied on the Lonely Planet guide to find out all about Thailand, so different now
Yes. What a great point. I used to borrow it from the library before I came. Didn’t have much about Pattaya.
I'm 43 and been in pattaya 6 months. I have enough of the place now, it is dirty and smelly and too seedy.
Youre so right. Pattaya is a mudpit for old white men needing other old white men. I never go near Pattaya.
This is such an interesting insight thank you
what generation ?
We are getting replaced, the next generation will not be English.
We both went to Pattaya in the same year. I’m pretty sure that youngsters these days learn how to start a fire don’t they?
@@LePubPattaya Yep, just go to your nearest abandoned building.
I was in Pattaya in 1994, it was so different back then, it looks horrendous now
When you said you weren’t GenX when you first went to Thailand, you’ve always been gen x it’s not a age it’s when you were born , it’s about the era you grew up
They come to Pattaya for the same reason as the rest of us...the lifestyle. Cheaper rents, cheaper food, good weather, friendly/party atmosphere, and yes, easy access to women. Back in the UK prices are ridiculous, housing, going out and according to my gen z friends the dating scene is terrible.
Very good points, but if we could’ve done that in our 20s or 30s, we wouldn’t. My point being, how can I afford to do it at such a young age.
Very good points thank you for posting.
And any man that had anything close to the idiotic Man-Bun was banished to a faraway land. or ER
I think we all remember our childhood fondly. But it wasn’t all good. Unemployment and strikes.
@@LePubPattaya Not sure how but that was Gen Z or the millennial's fault !😉 just kidding.
Yes, it was not perfect but it made us tougher,
@@PREPFORITyou’re right
Boomer parents were largely absent (latchkey gen) - making gen X pretty tough overall
This is such a great comment. I hearted it.
People try to put us down!
You get knocked down, but you get up again
Just because we get around.
As a millennial I found this incredibly offensive, specifically the stereotyping. I furiously threw off my man bag in the middle of lining up my beard purely to write this comment!!!!! How dare you!!!

Good vlog as always Phil. Just booked my Flights & Hotel for my return at the end of February. I will pop down to Le Pub for a catch-up.
Happy Christmas mate
@@LePubPattaya You too pal. really looking forward to getting back.
Perhaps Pattaya has killed the golden goose....in the long run it's cheaper to visit Las Vegas!
Life is as simple or complicated as you make it
Every thing changes , bar world is changing, Pattaya is changing, example… coffee shops were not big in west then one generation 20 years ago made that popular hence Starbucks etc was born , it was bars after war but they are slowly dieing off as next generation pumps through life , disposable income has shrunk, trips to Thailand to carve up soi6 and walking street those days of disposable income for lower class have gone , inflation and COVID changed world people don’t trust politicians or media on same level ….latest crypto pump will help because those guys in last 6 weeks have had a tremendous run , I’m a non crypto guy but good luck to them they got paid of late ,
I think it’s true what you say that bars are on the wain and places like coffee shops are on the increase.
I agree. It brings me to the point of how can I afford to be here!
Younger gens are probably banking on boomers not spaffing their inheritance on blue pills and so on. House prices out of reach so what to save for?
Bangkok? You must not like fresh air.
70 baht to £1 the first time I visited. 42 now if you are lucky. Maybe if you are a train driver, MP, judge but normal tax paying people can't afford the trip any more.
That’s because Thailand is a Third World country and most countries, including the UK have stood still with very low productivity and a lazy workforce
@@LePubPattaya Lazy workforce is only because successive uk govts make it so with free housing & bennys for all comers. Be careful not to blame the victims!
NW only owns a small percentage of the bars now. But most independent bars copy their format
I was a teenager working in London Piccadilly during the swinging 60's. Guess that makes me a pre GENX person. Looking around these days the world has alot more plastic people who don't know their arse from their elbow.
I enjoyed my time working in the big smoke, but it was in the early 2000s
Yep, boomers know everything 👍
I am here in Pattaya the young side of Gen X not 50 yet. I founded my company when I turned 18, never had a "real job" I work online and have lived in 20+ different countries. Now I am relaxing and have a Thai GF, I don't plan on moving any more just vacations around Asia.
You’re having a great life well done
Nice reflection on the recent generations! As a fellow (American) GenXer, I am frequently chagrined at how quickly I went from being a young person trying to fight my way up to an older person withstanding blows from new young people trying to fight their way up, although they often don’t appear to be having to fight so hard as I have to fight just trying to keep myself as young as possible!
When you briefly turned your head , did you think is was that dog

You went very serious 😮 again just before switching off the camera 📸. +1
God bless America!
Easy road gets harder the hard road ( mortgage) gets easier…… I’ve had times were I did not eat for 2 days to pay water bill around 30 /35 ……now I’m painting that house for a lazy 2 million……
When I paid 500 k in 2000 they all said mad …… today I get paid ……..
Most in Pattaya have taken easy road…. Hence today after covid spike in inflation they hit 55 gen x and those are scrambling to survive, 70 percent or Pattaya is that crown maybe 80 percent… the misery head down broke poor hygiene poor body language… then bend the elbow… drink drink drink … then you got those who fly in and going to survive on RUclips doing video’s of soi6/ 7 and walking street next 25 years
Yer that plan will work as good as all the plans that got them to RUclips in first place
Every generation has to suffer at some point to rise … just less people want the hard work or can’t do effort
So they are now broke …….its called life or reality…. You xxxx up you pay … 90 percent of Pattaya xxxx up …

Before I moved to Thailand, but on my first visit, (99) I read an article in the BKK Post about the yaba "problem." Being from the US, I said to myself, "You don't have a problem yet!"
I moved to another country in 2010, and I watch the Pattaya news on utube, and there isn't a day that goes by that violence isn't being committed against foreigners.
If only!
Went to Pattaya when I was 19 now 29 definitely a younger crowd social media is putting Pattaya out there
As part of Gen Z, I can tell you that most people in my generation still don't have the disposable income to come to Pattaya.

Thank you once again for your comments.

off topic but bkk has changed,a lot, i was there for a coupla nights back in september n boy i was staggered to the amount of lima bravos now congregating round sukhimvit, gotta be 50-60% increase compared to 2012/14...shithole now imo n i used to prefer bkk over patts for the talent available
Pattaya has never been for the youngsters.
The death of the pub...is reality in hole of Europe. I'm in Pattaya now, passed your pub......to night in prime time....sorry to say but many famous streets are ....out of date...yes am born 65 and no longer handsome man, but the girls say welcome papa...😅. I got the money but hard to please.....I pass by the most.....
1. I like walking in that park. I didn't know about it my first few times in Pattaya. Hmmm, too many distractions.
2. As someone your age who had skin cancer, I worry about your “egg” without a hat in the sun.
3. I never understand how digital nomads make money. I would find an interview with a couple of them interesting, but most of your viewers might not.
A lot of common sense spoken here Phil. 😂🎉👍
Hua hin is the nearest thing to old pattaya lots of older gents and old school bars
Last time I went to Hua Hin it really was very disappointing. If you were somebody looking for some nighttime entertainment.
What do you mean by "old school bars"? The last time I went, in 2019, the bars didn't thrill me.
gen x's are loaded up....the term teenager wasnt round till the 50's..the bogan aussie in his mid - late 20's and the tattoed lout from the UK have been priced outta pattaya,
im 56 have lived in issan previously with about 22 trips over 28 years behind me n in my last 3 trips over these past 24 months the bogan n the lout are nowhere to be seen, soi 6 is a rip off and the best parts of thailand are miles away from patts
patts is ok now n then...anyway back on topic personally ive got more money n more comin to me than ever before,i pikd up the game early n have survived with my cahunas n wallet in tact, gen x'rs are the best
Thanks for the comment. I’m glad you’ve had a good life and I hope you’re enjoying it up north. Can you explain how Soi 6 is a rip off?
@@LePubPattaya i'll rephrase, soi 6 is not what it used to be,too much of a monopoly from a certain group
like say here in Australia in the hotel/gaming/hospitality industry as an example only, one particular group dominates that industry has too much of a % n everyone is worse off including the customer
I'm 44 & Been Coming To Pattaya Since I Was 29 Back in 2009. In The Early 2010's You Didn't Really See Any Guys Under The Age Of 30 & Not That Many Between 30-35. I Have Noticed In The Last 2 Years There Is A Much Larger Younger Crowd In Pattaya Aged 25-35, With Many Of Them Living In Pattaya. I'm 44 But I Still Look Good & Younger Then My Actual Age , But This Year I Had A Few Girls In The Clubs Call Me Old Man. That's When I Realized Pattaya Has A Much Larger Younger Crowd Compared To 10 Years Ago. Times Change But You Have To Change With It , Otherwise You Will End Up Being That Grumpy Old In The Bar Complaining About Your Electric Bill & How Things Were Better Back In Day.
I Honestly Have Enjoyed Pattaya More In The Last 2 Years Then Ever Before. As There Are Now So Many More Options & Places To Have Fun. Live The Moment.
Have you seen the size of my electric bill? 😂😂😂
I miss the days when they taught proper usage of capital letters. ;-)
If AI dont kill us, its a big chance every generation will have a heafty basic income/pension to spend in your Bar, your future is bright Phil🙂.
I’m still convinced that AI will kill me!
If they're allowed to leave their country - 'global warming' and all that (nonsense)
As a demographic Gen Xer, not seeing traces of it in Pattaya is one of its best features. If the bars eventually flip and play too much garbage Gen X music, I'll probably retire elsewhere haha
What music atre you into then? Hotel California & Highway to Hell or this 'new 'generic Percoset inspired Hip Hop / mindless EDM (erectile disfunction music)?
@toneloc-cz2xi Most Baby Boomer playlists work, along with higher-end stuff like jazz where it works. I'd take "Hotel California" 1000x over any disgusting Gen X-palooza band, at least Baby Boomers weren't trying to destroy culture.
@@stdio44.32 Hippies, punk etc.boomers spaffed white heritage into the abyss leaving future genrations with trillions in debt. They're the original degens so pattaya is their natural habitat.
PS wtf is an X-palooza band? Can you provide any X-palooza band names that I might have heard of?
@@stdio44.32 u look very boomerIsh tbh - what year were y born?
Do you have any examples of these X-palooza bands?
Boomers did have some decent music tbf but a lot of it was govt funded and there werent many alternatives for creatives back then.
Boomers are the OGs degens - free love huppies and punk etc. disgusting stains on white culture but u do u mate 👍
The video player was the size of a small car 🚗 😊
And the lady whose job it was to wheel it out was considered to be a technician and wore a lab coat
happy chrismasssss
Happy Christmas to you too.
My 2 Baht's worth.... Social Media is at the core of all things good and bad in the world....If it wasn't for a feck load of RUclipsrs peddling TnA from Pattaya on a daily basis I am guessing the amount of people visiting the city would be significantly less.... rightfully the only people who would have a right to complain in my eyes are the locals as foreigners are merely guests here..... There are plenty of other places in the world one can go if they don't like it in Pattaya. Noone is being forced to stay... Its all about respect at the end of the day. - From a Millennial
Thank you for your comment. It’s very appreciated. Personally speaking I’m not one that pedals TNA but I know what you mean. Thanks again.
@@LePubPattaya Correct Boss, I didn't mean you when I said RUclipsrs, My apologies. Should have been more specific lol. 🙂.....you bring quality, informative content to the table that has merit. Number 1 channel in Pattaya by far. Keep up the good work Have a good one.

Love you Stig. Happy Christmas
Gen x is now 70 my gen which is y borne in the late 80's early 90's is what you need to cater to now.
I have a lot of customers around that age
@@LePubPattaya not directed at you specifically. you tend to move with the times. lot of bars with no online presence and a boring drinks list to name 2 things tho
I am, Gen X and 56 yo
gen xers are not 70,born btwn 1962 - 1975
Gen X is generally considered those born from 1965-1980, as Mr. Egg said.
It's an option but they're prolly waiting for dad's 32nd vaxxxine to do it's thing so they can inherit that half million pound house 👍
