In my childhood times mom made dumpings of mahul with rice flour.The taste had deeply enrooted in my memory.👌 And biri making leaves(tendu) is normally called Kend/Kendu patta in Rarh Bengal. The other natural habitat trees in Rarh region -Sal,Teak(segun),Peal,Bhurru,Kadam,Banyan(Bat),Peepal(Aswatha),.... Kend,Peal give Sweet fruit in Summer and Bhurru in autumn season.

I don't deny the fact that Mahua flower is an important part of the rural and tribal economy but iske collection ke har jaga maine dekha hai (may be area specific) log tree ke niche dry leaves ke layer ko jala dete hain jisse ki aag bade bade area me fail jata hai aur dusre chhote bade trees jala deta hai, kahin pe forest fire ka v bada reason hota hai isliye mujhe lagta hai ki environment pov se jitna iska nuksan hai wo bohot hi chinta janak hai. Logon environment ke importance ko samjhana usse v jyada jarurat hai. 🙏🏻
Ma'am you make me remember that of my college days.It was 2013,one of my friends was from Jhhargram and he was from Santal community.He gave me a bottle of liquor made of Mahua.I was really surprised by its flavour 🔥🔥
Last month I have collect 400 kg it is source of money but so many illiterate people are burning the forest it is very shame for us we should strictly stop 🔥
However it is tribals in majority who collect Mahua but there are considerable population of non tribals who collect Mahua and other non timber Forest products . 1) I'm from Hararibagh, Jharkhand. We have to sell Mahua just 15 Rs per kg . 2) It's collection and drying in labour intensive process . 3) After drying a big volume needed to make a kg of Mahua . So it must be regulated holistically , so that it can help NTFPs collectors .
