RIP to the Original "Monster of the midway." A disappointing season so far but last night the team played with such grit that I'm sure Butkus is smiling from wherever he is.

LT was awesome fast like a Jaguar, but NO ONE hit like Butkus...PERIOD.
LT admits he was usually always Coked up for games. Definitely a form of speed and a painkiller, so, like Steroids...an unfair advantage. Butkus #1 Middle Linebacker and Defensive player of all time. LT #2. Matt

Dick Butkus has always been a football idol of mine, but id really like to know more about his dad. Why he left, when he got here, differences between America and his homeland, etc. Theres a killer story in there somewhere.

If you watch some of his tackles, he gets his legs as leverage to just slam his entire body weight into people. True story about him from Sport Illustrated. Interview with Calvin Hill of the Cowboys. Hill was asked if he was ever scared playing pro football and he said no….paused and said there was this one time when they were playing the Bears and Butkus was furious at a ball placement so he picked it up and moved it back a bit. The officials left it there. Hill decided if the refs were scared, maybe he should be, too.

It’s unbelievable how the Bears have managed to be so deficient on Offense for decades… Almost as if it’s expected… One-sided team, defensive Chicago Bears… Decision passing… But they had great running backs and Gale Sayers and Walter Payton… So bears fans need to be patient with Justin Fields and the rest of the regime… It took practically 10 years before Walter Payton started finally winning, in his 30s, and they won which was so memorable it still considered one of the greatest teams ever… So it takes sometimes five or more years to rebuild a team… And now with Justin Fields, in his second year as the starter, learning a new offense, playing with new players… I don’t understand why the Chicago and national media or so unfair to him… Calling him out constantly saying that he’s a bad traffic, trade him, draft another quarterback next draft… But then he shows how good you can really be… Exactly what I expected, because when we drafted him first of all, I didn’t think for a second he would be available, I thought Zack Wilson would be our traffic… But because, I believe, that the Bears decided to put out false information, his stock dropped… how? Don’t these other teams have the ability to fact check? Don’t they have the ability to call up the coaches and other guys who play with him to find out what’s true and what’s not? What did they really think his passing ability was overrated and of course his receivers wide-open and more talented… And that he couldn’t develop into anything but an OK quarterback who will probably just run the ball even though he rarely ran the ball in Georgia or Ohio… He was a pocket passer that’s what he wanted to be but he also has this incredible ability to run, scramble and his size and speed make him a difficult man to bring down. so bears media, national media need to settle down and shut the hell up… It takes a while, so be patient they are so unrealistic and wishful in automatically they start trashing a young kid who’s barely got his feet wet… Aaron Rodgers played for what about four years behind Brett Favre? Tom Brady, I mean so many quarterbacks in the hall of fame had to wait and learn but it also depends on the situation they are in… If Aaron Rodgers was put in Justin Fields position… Do you think he would be so successful with the amount of talent we lack? Hell no… There are a few outliers but remember Jalen hurts, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, Ptashkin mahomes, all were drafted by teams who had talent, experienced and winning head coaches… The Bears didn’t, the Bears coaches were rookies last year… What do you expect? They’re still trying to figure things out with new players and creating a new scheme… And yet especially the Chicago media has been so fucking obnoxious and rude and completely ridiculous… I wish Dick Butkus could’ve clotheslined every single media member or supposed Chicago Bears fan just so they could realize the truth, it’s difficult to win in the NFL no matter what you have, no matter how talented quarterback is, it’s just not easy… Yes I have high expectations because I know Justin can be a great quarterback, I never doubted it I wasn’t even thinking you would be available at number 11… But for Zach Wilson and four what’s his name Trey Lance? A guy who never threw the ball? Go ahead of Justin Fields? What the hell is going on? Well whatever… Thank you to all those teams that passed on Justin Fields we really appreciate it here and for you Bears fans and Bears media skeptics… Just shut the hell up for a little while and let things happen naturally… Don’t be in a hurry progress, greatness takes a while to build as they say Rome wasn’t built in a day… Same thing with a great football team. And thank you for the documentary totally appreciate it, and sorry for the long stories, it’s just so frustrating and I have so much to say about it. Bear down y’all!!!!!

Why were the Bears so bad during his era? Obviously it was the playcalling… And the coaching… Effort, execution… And lack of talent… How the hell do you screw that up with two of the greatest talents in NFL history? I guess the same thing happened with Walter Payton and Michael Jordan until they’ve built the rest of the team and chose the right coach… So you never know…

Poor coaching, offense 3 and out often so defense was on the field way much louder than the offense. Sayers was great but defenses keyed on him partially because passing game stunk. Many games ended 3/6 3/10 6/ 14, you get the point.Butkus and Sayers were great but…….to stop ( not possible let’s say slow down a bit) Everyone dove at the knees of Butkus and Sayers if they could get an angle. Both had short careers because of injuries.
