Hey there! I know this was a couple years ago, but I hope you get to see it
I am so proud of the eyes you took
I know you know the benefits but they are going to be even more far reaching than you can imagine
I have had MS for 25 years, since 16 and if I wouldn’t have spent half my life eating crap, and even now a little to much probably, I would not have felt like I did and it there isn’t anything you can do to reduce inflammation more (maybe Ice baths, 😜. Which by the way wad the absolute life changer I discovered a couple years ago. Research it. I recommend starting cold water therapy. There isn’t anything that will give you the energy alone that it will.)
But with food, I have been through enough to know it 100% correlates to the quality of life, and our mobility as MS progresses. Congrats and I pray you are sticking to it.!

@@OnceAnEerAlwaysAnEer I can't tell you how grateful I am for you
Thank you for sharing and taking the time
      To give advice
And I will definitely look up ice cold baths and it's benefits
It has been two years and I am learning even more
I found that the fight is more linked to maintaining than anything else especially when things are going good for so long
      Even though I'm maintaining overall
May I ask what stage are you in your journey?

I have had ms for over 34 years. I work out two hours a day (weights) have 2 herniated discs in my lumbar spine and my right hip was broken requiring surgery,( It is now full of arthritis). I was a d1 football player as a youth and have done more things than I can even believe. I still work at a physical job and am very active. This is only possible because I did cut out most of the crap ( I do sometimes have a donut) and eat a lot of protein and fruits and vegetables. The Dr is right about this I am now 64!!

Not only is shopping the perimeter of my supermarket great for fresh/whole produce buys, it is also a great energy saver. That is, I'm not dragging my feet up the isles. Also, carrying my own bag or basket ensures I only pick up what I can carry and need -essentials-. No room for soda and cartons of juice if buying fresh fruit and veg!!🍎🍎

I wish you were closer to us. I'm a caregiver to my partner that UofM has given up on and we're both a wreck. She's worse every day. Primary Progressive MS was the diagnosis Last Year. She could still do everything and just a year later, she can barely walk, is going blind, and can't remember much of anything at all. Not even the current year. I've been looking for information about her current state and what she's going through Right Now, because she can't explain it to me. It's very heartbreaking. These videos have helped so much, but I'm still so confused. She did the Ocrevus medication and was almost Immediately worse. Thank you for taking the time to create these. They're informative and awesome. My question about the sugars is, Why should I try making her stop drinking pop at this point if it's one of her only pleasures? She enjoys her Mountain Dew, and while I dislike pop altogether and don't understand the attraction, she likes it a whole lot and I'd feel awful, given how much her disease progresses Daily, if I tried taking that away.

I appreciate you creating awareness around this. I've made major changes in my diet over the last 6 years and have lost over 100 lbs. It has made significant changes in my energy levels and has put me in a better position to fight this illness. Nutrition is no cure for illness but when we think in terms of "food is fuel" we begin to see things more clearly and better understand. It's a shame how little some people know about nutrition, thanks for giving them a helpful resource. You rock Dr. B

Appreciate this straight forward approach and helpful information! I have loss of taste as of my recent ms flare up with numbness in my face. I'm finding limited information on managing what I eat that doesn't just taste like cardboard. I found references that taste/smell loss occurs in some ms patients, but not much info on how to maintain eating a nutritional diet. Sweet is the only taste I have a little bit left. I'd greatly appreciate more videos on nutrition with MS. THANK YOU for ALL your videos and being YOU! You have helped me so much!

Dr. Boster, I totally agree with you, I've never in my life eaten fast food junk, only eaten as you call it, REAL FOOD, growing salads & veg too, I only drink still mineral water, nothing with fizz. I thought I was odd, people passed judgement because I've always eaten real food. When I was younger I caught my own fish from the sea, gave loads to the villagers for their supper. I'd have the mackerel & Pollock caught on the day & would fillet, clean them out (throwing inners to the seagulls) before directing the curragh home, those were the good oul' days, so young such. Great memories.
    Thank you Dr.
    Very best wishes,

Changing my diet was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done! But now if I ever do eat junk i see how it makes me feel so terrible!! I’m thankful that we have a space to have a large garden, a husband who hunts to provide us the healthiest meat possible and land to forage for nature’s goodies! If you can’t do that yourself (not everyone can do these things) go to your local farmers markets! That’s where the best of the best is! Thanks for addressing this Dr Boster! Diet is so so important 🙌

I like your bloopers. I just recently subscribed to your channel. I have not been diagnosed yet. I am in the process of having multiple appointments for different MRIs done to see if I have MS. I've had ON symptoms for just over 3 weeks now along with several other things I have experienced during this time. I know i need to eat better. Over the past couple of years I have gotten into a major fast food cycle with my family and I know we would all benefit from me trying harder to stay away from that crap. I also need to drink more water and less tea with lots lots of sugar in it. I am going to work towards a goal of no fast food or prepackaged food.

I did the 30 day challenge and I did not feel any better or worse at the end of 30 days and I went back to my candy snacks but now I eat them much more sparingly. I was thinking when I would go to Columbus Ohio, white castles bagels lox Cracker Barrel Olive Garden. I think all of that is just heat and serve food. We do have a local farm dairy that does make ice cream that is hormone free. But I’m sure it does have sugar in it. Love your podcast, thank you so much!

Great video! We recently went to Jamaica and had nothing but "real food" for a week, and I felt much better! (Of course, the weather helped too!) I rarely drink soda, but I am a sucker for Cranberry juice - the no added sugar kind (there's still quite a bit of sugar in it.) So, I have been mixing a little Cranberry juice with an essential oil/wolf berry drink (Ningxia Red) and lots of water - no added sugars, nice and sweet, I feel better on days I drink it, and has helped me cut back on drinking straight-up juice!
Loved the outtakes at the end!

I was eating pretty clean for quite a long time, and then Covid hit. We took off in our camper van during the furlough from work and I was less careful about my food. Still eating good buy American standards, but not as good as I was. I was diagnosed last June, the symptoms started the end of March/early April. As soon as I was diagnosed I went completely clean. No processed sugars, no gluten, no dairy, and I read labels like crazy to make sure there’s nothing bad added. I try not to eat things that have a label, but that doesn’t always work. I have also greatly reduced alcoholic drinks, I don’t think I’ve had one in a month.
I have added supplements as well. I am basically following the Wahls protocol and intermittent fasting.
My symptoms started improving before I started Ocrevus, but it’s hard to say how much diet has to do with everything. I had, what my neurologist called, a miraculous lessening of the lesion on my C-spine. I am not sure when my next MRI will be. I do attribute some of it to prayers.
I feel very certain that following a clean diet and taking care of your gut can make all the difference in the world. Sometimes I struggle because I want some thing and I can’t figure out what it is, however I see no reason to fall off the wagon.
I think the next step is to eliminate the chemicals and crap that I put on or in my body other than food. Meaning, most toothpaste have stuff in them that are just as bad as some of the food you speak of. Lotions, shampoos, and other things that we put on our body are also bad and get absorbed.
It should not be this hard to be healthy, but unfortunately the conveniences of this world have led to this.
I really appreciate your channel, I am seriously considering making an appointment to consult with you. I will admit that you are a bit more pro-drug than I am, however I like a lot of what you say and do. I think we are both about the whole body approach.

Yes, that's the kind of diet that I've practiced for years. I generally avoid snacks like snickers (and I'm allergic to peanuts), I find them too sweet, I usually eat traditionally cooked food, I don't drink bubble tea for years, rarely drink soda, not even Starbucks (I have my own coffee maker) and I try to eat a lot of greens like broccoli or spinach. Fruits are a must, at least once a week! Whole foods do keep me satiated (though I eat small portions, many times a day). Thanks for sharing this! My students would benefit for this month's theme of health.

Thank you. My question is why aren’t other MS neurologists talking about nutrition to their MS patients? I’m learning so much through your videos but I’m also feeling angry toward my MS specialist who only see me 1-2x year for 20 mins, wherein he reviews the annual MRI to make sure the DMD is working, and then pushing pills to counteract current symptoms. Not once in 13 years was nutrition discussed. Pathetic.

Thankfully I follow a very healthy and balanced diet. It would like to see a video from you about all the controversial thematic of ms, gluten, lactose and the leaky gut. Since my diagnosis I have seen a lot of websites and even some documentaries on how eating gluten and dairy are one of the triggers of a leaky gut and then auto-immune diseases. Not scientifically proven and I don't follow this idea but I just see that this topic is very trendy within people with autoimmune diseases.

I do exactly as you suggested. Clean food no processed foods or sugar. I drink just water, herbal teas or perrier. I eat raw or roasted unsalted nuts and fruit when I need a snack type food. My heart rate dropped by 30 + beats a min, my BP dropped and no longer need pills. Eating processed foods like bread, donuts, candy etc for example is like an addictive drug in my body...when eating them all I can do is think about eating them day and night. I wake up thinking about them, getting up multiple times after I go to bed to eat cereal etc.. When eating clean this is eliminated. Every so often I'm at a family function or something and I allow myself to eat some processed foods and boom I'm back to the horrible cravings. It takes a few days but as long as I stay away from them the cravings go away. I haven't noticed any changes in my MS symptoms over the years but it is sooooo much easier to cope with them. And over all my body feels so much better. The last thing I need is to be taking more medication for conditions I could avoid by eating right. For those like me that have a family to feed and more bad days then good you can get fast food from your grocery store like fresh cut up veg and fruit and fresh made salads. My store even cuts up veggies ready to roast or put on the bbq etc Thank you much for this video and reaffirming this way of eating. And thank you for all the amazing videos you do.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

And it has a Nice sideeffect : weightloss and better sleep, and less pain🤩

Thanks Dr Boster. I really need to incorporate more vegetables and also water into my daily diet. I just ran out of my favorite coffee creamer so maybe I'll try and go without it for a while. Hope I'll last lol. I loved the bloopers at the end!

When you switch to drinking black coffee, splurge on the best brands or your personal favorite. That makes it a lot easier to "taste beyond the bitter". Also, if you have a bean grinder, fresh ground is terrific, and maintains richness and better flavor for when it's brewed. I have one mug every morning of the best whole-bean we can afford. That makes it a treat, not a chore, to drink it black. (Trader Joe's "Joe" -- literally, that's the name -- "Joe" -- is surprisingly delicious and at ONLY 5 bucks for a can.)

A BIGGGG thank you for this!!! I feel convicted about the soda issue. Ugh. I've been trying to give it up for ten years. I swear, they must put crack in that stuff. I'm on vacation now, and had planned to start eating better when I return home. This helps me have an idea of where to start. My mom has cut out high fructose corn syrup and its been eye opening ....its in everything!

I gain 40lbs once yrs ago in 2 mths then lost it. Then it happened again with 80 lbs longer and lost it again. Now since MS is much worse and I so fatigue I've gained more weight again but can't loose it. My eating habits are not bad according to dietitian/nutritionists I was sent to. I dislike taste of sugar, don't drink pop or juice. I drink water or tea w/1% milk. And I chew ice chips from dry mouth. I have bad water retention and take lasix. But diet and intake is good. Any ideas would be helpful. Love all your videos from Halifax

As far as drinking water, I have a trick my nutritionist told me. Put a few teabags (I use peppermint tea or berry or peach tea) in a pitcher with very hot water, you don’t even have to boil it. In a few hours you have a pitcher of flavored water and it’s so cheap! I don’t use a lot of tea, usually two teabags are enough for a big pitcher, but you could use as many as you like. It’s a big improvement to plain water. I also like zero calorie fruit flavored sparkling water. Thanks for all the into, doc! Keep up the good work. You’re an inspiration.

I began the transition to clean eating in January 2018. It's been a slow process but it's been great! No processed food, no refined sugar. I'm not perfect at it but I'm much better than I when I started!!

Hello Dr. B, I am newly diagnosed with MS (this January) with Optic Neuritis in My Right Eye and not other symptoms but doctor found few (3-5) Non enhancing lesions in my MRI and also 10 Oligoclonal Bands in CSF, so I changed my life style because after doing a lot of research on Internet the most important fact I found that how early you start treatment of MS and do your life changes the better you can keep this disease under control (no food can cure this disease completely) so I am now not drinking any kind of soft drink and not eating Possessed food, fast food and Red Meat, Now I do 1 hour of Yoga and Pranayama in morning (empty stomach) after that I drink one cup of green tea and take some fruit and nuts in lunch and dinner I usually eat everything as before but reduce amount of Sugar, Salt and Spices (in India we eat very spicy food) and in Night I drink one glass of Turmeric Milk and as for now I am feeling great any advise for me or how is my food plans now in last thanks for these great videos.
