Cool Fact - the piano melody that we hear in the anime from the North Nr.2 arc came from none other than Naoki Urusawa himself! He already had a melody in his mind when he was drawing the manga panels back then. When it came time to make the anime, he was approached about the song that plays in the arc. Right there he pitched his melody and it was later developed into a full song for the anime. Love to see this level of collaboration. God this anime is so special :’)

Pluto was given a truly excellent adaptation. Everything was top notch: the animation, the voice acting, presentation, score, pacing, EVERYTHING. I had the pleasure of reading Pluto earlier this year, and it quickly became one of my favorite series because of the conflicts, character dynamics, themes, and mystery, and now being able to see it animated was an absolute joy.

@@arnavpandey5386 going off my memory, I’m more than sure Pluto was one to one as well. The only real difference that was obvious to me was the ending, which was kinda abrupt in the manga, and for as much as I adore this manga, it was my one and only flaw against the series. In the anime however, they do add one extra little, what I like to call, a Shakespearean ending, in which some of the main cast gathers at the end and reflect on the events of the story, and what it all meant. Tbh, I preferred the anime’s ending.
Never seen the Monster anime tho, only read the manga 3 times, I should watch it at some point 💀

What the series does really well is never showing Pluto in it's entirety. Pluto is always hidden in a typhoon and we only see shadows, silhouettes and sometimes bits of its body and the only time we do see him was at the very end of the series when it's finally revealed who and what Pluto really is. It's very similar to movies like Jaws (1975), Predator (1987), Alien (1979) and The Thing (1982) where they never flat out show the actual creature in order to create suspense and tension throughout the movie.
Some may be disappointed that we don't see the fights itself but it doesn't need to and that's exactly what makes Pluto such a compelling thriller. This is basic writing advice that most monster movies fail to understand. It's the ticking clock that makes people nervous and keeps them at the edge not the actual bomb.

10K for this video in twelve hours, why are more Pluto videos not getting more views like this?? I absolutely loved this series. I think it’s absolutely phenomenal. Urasawa gave new life to one of Tezuka’s best stories and expanded on it without losing some of the themes that Tezuka had in Astro Boy. I ended up really liking Epsilon in this series and he’s third favourite after Atom and Gesicht. In episode 7 or 8, it was so shocking to me to hear Atom say “Don’t piss me off.” A couple of scenes were quite scary, like the anger in Gesicht’s face as he kills Adolf’s brother and Atom’s thousand yard stare after waking up from his coma. I don’t think the anime did a very good job at explaining who and what the fuck the teddy bear is, which is called Roosevelt.

I went in blind with this one. I’ve been desperately trying to find a deeply thought-provoking and more thematically weighted anime to watch since that’s what i was introduced to by my cousin. I’m just starting out my anime journey at this point. I found some animes that just felt dull, but I gave this one a watch since Netflix said it’s based on Astro boy, and I absolutely loved the 2007 movie as a kid. So I thought ok, just one episode. Ended up watching the whole thing in one sitting. I couldn’t get enough of all the emotionally charged stories that were being introduced then developed in the first few episodes. This made my day and I’m so excited to let the series marinate then rewatch it when the time is right to pick up on the many things I probably missed. This is definitely the type of content I love watching above all else, and I would love any recommendations from anyone who reads this, especially if you are into this style of story telling and thematic exploration.

Watched Monster for the first time directly after finishing Pluto and loved it just as much if not more than Pluto. Going to read 20th Century boys next and i know it won't disappoint.

Went into this blind and not knowing the manga as well. I love something that is unique to it is that background unnamed characters are pretty much a character as well. That bodyguard with Epsilon isn't just any grunts that are incompetent if they're not the main characters. And everyone in every scene feels like they have a place in the story and feels really human.

It's such an amazing series, I was constantly on the edge of my seat and watching all the pieces fall into place was mesmerising. I do wish that it had garnered more attention, it would have made it more likely for more of Urasawa's works to be adapted in the same way. But one can hope

Yo, just finished episode six Jesus Christ the feels man, but yeah, so far this has got to be one of my favorite animes of the year hands-down, the fact that people aren’t talking about it more is frankly startling and when I say one of the best animes of the year like easily top three this is coming from a guy who just finished the second part of thousand year blood war, and is currently watching jujutsu Kaisen so that should tell you all you need to know, but yeah, the characters the story, the development, the music, the atmosphere like I had a feeling this is going to be a special when the North number two episode had me in tears, like this is an excellent adaptation in the true sense of the word, can’t wait to finish it and just shout out to the voice acting though subway is fantastic but the dub hit different not gonna lie

But they did an amazing job with this anime, it’s a near perfect adaptation, you can follow along page for page, panel per panel with the manga, which I actually did for the first 2 episodes. Amazing work.

I just had one thought about this anime after I finished watching it.
My gripe is only the last episode which might be a problem with the original source material for me. It just feels like the last bit of the story ended it in a pretty meh way. I was expecting so much more considering every other episode and story point was soooo effective. If not for that this would have been for me the absolutely complete and the greatest series I had ever seen. The adaptation was just so impactful.

Happy doesn’t even begin to transcribe the feeling I have. I truly believe we have witnessed one of, if not, the best adaption of a manga series ever. They did such a tremendous job : it’s vibrant, always moving and shifting unless it needs to be still, the pacing is perfect, the music strikes a core (especially in that North No.2 episode) and the story drives you over to keep on watching. It’s been a while since I finished the manga so it all felt so fresh to rediscover it in this new fresh form. I’m so happy for Urasawa-sensei to get a product of love out of one of his work and as a fan I am beyond delighted. Made me cry, made me laugh, made me smile, made me satisfied. 10/10 nuff said !

I always thought Adapting Urasawa's mangas would be very risky as Not Every studio Can adapt his work, The Depth of thought given to his work Is Always surprisingly outwitting, Pluto was Amazingly Adapted The references from 20thcb, monsters Were very refreshing to watch. The complexity of the story was very well Driven to the ending I am Thankful They adapted it this way. I hope we get an adaptation of Billy bat, 20thcb and such in the near future. Thanks Naoki Urasawa and netflix for such a wonderful work.

Masao Maruyama has been behind most of Naoki Urasawa anime works and Satoshi Kon's work, I hope he lives long enough to produce 20th century boys, him and Miyazaki are I'm really scared for they are at their age where I just don't know how long they can go on making these masterpieces
I don't know any other producer who would be this passionate about Urasawa's work as it's not "mainstream" as he is, i think he was also producer on Master Keaton(it was made by Madhouse I think) and Yawara series correct me if I'm wrong but he is definitely the main reason we have such great accurate adaptations one after another of Naoki Urasawa's work
From what i have seen of his Imdb he is a producer who clearly would like to make Money but he won't compromise an artists vision for it, I just saw a French documentary on Satoshi Kon where he was featured and he said I wanna be blunt we lost money on some films and he clearly wasn't happy about it or tried to brush it off as money doesn't matter but he also always supported Satoshi Kon's and other artists works, in his Imdb I'm surprised how many of them were either produced by him or he was a executive producer that I loved yes obviously he had a long career but man that's a great list of films he has his name attached to

A great series. Just finished it. I'm very happy that there are people out there carrying the torch for Tezuka. Anyone who thinks that Tezuka only does chirpy, happy things will be surprised by this, but I've seen some of his darker stuff and this isn't even close to how dark he could get. Ultimately, the themes and style, those written by someone else, are still very Tezuka-esque.

So I never read the manga. I found out that this existed because I am a fan of things inspired by Tezuka's work like Mega Man and I grew up with the 2009 Astro Boy film. I'm a fan of sci-fi stories like both Blade Runner movies and man.... this series blew it out of the water for me. It's up there with FMAB, Trigun, and Vinland Saga. This and anime like Monster (which I started watching in anticipation of Pluto and I'm still watching it now) don't feel like a typical anime; it felt like I was watching a sci-fi classic.
This was definitely one of my animes of the year. I really need to get the manga. It's so damn good!
Edit: I already finished Monster. Holy Fuck!

Astro Boy was my first anime and I’ve been meaning to get to Pluto eventually, and decided to watch it first when I heard it was a good adaptation. It’s absolutely amazing and easily entered the exclusive club of anime that have earned a 10/10 from me. I still want to read it because I love manga. As my second Urasawa series (first being 20th Century) and it’s definitely my favorite (I liked a lot of the characters in 20th Century more but felt like the ending fell on its face, whereas Pluto was solid the whole way through).

Though i read the manga multiple times, i was pleasantly surprised by the anime. The music was immaculate especially during paul and norths arc. Animation was just stunning and so were the large scale shorts
    And The quality *Chefs Kiss*
    *SPOILERS*
The only complaint i have is formatting. Though i love how they reformatted the anime form manga like the "500 hundred Zeus for a body." being brilliant but there is room for improvement. I have seen a lot of people complaining about the ending as the last scenes felt dry.
And pls understand its not Sensei Urasawas fault as the ending to plutos arc was already decided ( due to the og astro boy author , sacrificed Pluto cuz its a children tv show) as its a reimagined reboot of astro 1980s 2 episode lmao. So he had to maintain the ending for the continuum.
I think they should have followed the manga, like they should not give Dr teddy so much exposure and left it to the viewers to figure out like a puzzle + they prob should have ended with brau scene.
Pretty solid adaptation (9.6 /10) , a huge breadth of fresh air. Best thing to come out this year arguably. Now let us get our hopes up for 20 century boys adaptation
