    What are your favourite lenses for the gh5? Native and non native glass.
    I find it a jungle... To go 12mm 25mm 42.5mm and 75mm or to go 12-35 + 35-100
    Not a lot of good tests covering the lenses and their updated counter parts

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  4 года назад +1

      I can't answer that generally, it totally depends what you are doing and what you would like to achieve. The best allrounder is surely a sigma 18-35 with a speedbooster. You can almost live just with that if you don't need Tele. Then, I love vintage for narrative… gives more sould to the image. Canon FD are nice and affordable. Watch our latest episode. This is sooooooooo old.

      I'm a big sandwich I never use the 400 all I neither on the GH5 nor on EVA11... it doesn’t give you better IQ then the long GOPs

      @@MediaDivision Well isn't the full v log super flat? so I'm afraid that there is going nasty compression artifacts in the shadows when using 150mbps, and plus 400mbps all i is a lot better for fast motion imo, because I shoot a lot of things with fast motion, and my 100mbps codec is breaking apart pretty easily, so the 400mbps codec sounds perfect. BTW I love your content can't believe you only have 18000 subscriber, your crazy rolling sensor experiements are the best.

      @@imabigsandwich1292 No nasty artifacs anywhere.... 400 all I is nor better in IQ the 150 long GOP (even according to Panasonic). Just watching professional videographers vlog with GH5 and not being in focus 90% of the time makes me angry as hell. AF is shit.

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  7 лет назад

      ???? I am in focus... I'n not using Auto Focus. The softness comes from the anamorphic adapter and the fact that I don't use sharpener (cause I don't like eyebleeding fake sharpness)

    • @muamermujevic
      @muamermujevic 7 лет назад +1

      Media Division Didn’t know that. You’re eyes are blurry and some parts of the face. Sorry didn’t mean to insult you, just personally frustrated with GH5 AF in general.

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  7 лет назад +1

      No offence taken.... if you didn't know I used an anamorphic adapter to test the new anamorphic mode you haven't actually watched the video ;-)
      GH5 AF is next to useless in Vlog with frame rates less then 50... yes. But beside Vlogging, I see very little use for AF. If I use it, I use it as "push to focus" funcion when I don't have a large screen/EVF to work with. GH5 is a great cam with a great image. I'm very happy with it. EVA1 will be even better… I will post a review end of the week.

    Ofcourse it's indistinguishable. The whole point of ALL-i 400mb 10bit422 is the flexibility to re-contrast and re-color in-post production, without breaking the codec. Straight out the camera, and b4 regrading, it would look identical to 8bit420 compressed footage. If you don't grade, you don't need it.

  • @LucasPfaff
    @LucasPfaff 7 лет назад

    1:46 it depends greatly on the taking lens - if you use lenses meant for fullframe, you can easily use 24mm with a 1.33x in "open gate". Obviously not with native MFT lenses :)

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  7 лет назад

      ??? Should be exactly the same… and worse with a speedbooster. A 25mm MFT lens has exactly the same FOV as a 25 FF lens on a MFT sensor. FF lens is only wider when a larger sensor is in use. On MFT without a speedbooster the FOV stays the same.

    • @LucasPfaff
      @LucasPfaff 7 лет назад

      FOV yes, but not the same projected image circle that you simply can't see. Fullframe has for more reserves, and obviously it's "worse" with a speedbooster (with the known benefits). In combination with an anamorphic, you simply can use wider lenses. I just tested this, with a speedbooster you can even use a 55mm - with a 2x :)

  • @JoshuaFortuna
    @JoshuaFortuna 7 лет назад +9

    Anamorphic Desqueeze is in the camera. In the top Movie Menu (same as the open gate settings), the first one on the second page. I will say, I don’t know if you can change the squeeze. It looks like it defaults to 2x.

  • @charbax
    @charbax 7 лет назад

    Just my guess, maybe the 400mbit/s codec is VBR in variable bitrate with an approximate 400mbit/s average bitrate "in normal conditions" but if you're not moving the camera at all it might not peak high so it may work ok on the Lexar 1000x but perhaps if you move the camera a lot and if you film something action packed like those waves then perhaps the peak bitrate might go higher and may not work on any slower card than a V90.

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  7 лет назад +1

      No, it is not. VBR codecs have to know "whats happening next" and need a second pass. GH5 would need a huge buffer and loss of power etc would destroy the file. I know of no camera/recorder that implements a VBR. If the mbps are always the same, you can tell that it is a CBR codec (HVEC is CBR on GH5). The image contend does NOT affect file size/data rate and I did test it... but as it is hard to film the monitor while doing that and it doesn't matter I opted for this setup in this.

      Hey Vale… i can't reall ydiagnose tfrom here, if your machine can take the load… the cards in iMac are usually not the fastest. I edit with Premiere CC/Mac Pro Dual Fire700 … that is still quite a beast. I can edit at half res mode no problem but the 400mbps is not quite as fluent as ProRes HQ on the timeline. Just use auto proxies (ProRes 1080) and your iMac will chew through it like nothing!

    when you shoot 25p, your shutter must be at 50, never at 60. Ideally, you'd always use the shutter/ISO option that you have in the camera & have your shutter angle always at 180d ;)

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  7 лет назад +1

      Thank you but this is not accurate at all… you look professional enough to know exactly when to go astray from 180° shutter rule. I made a 3 part compendium about the subject… see it, if you feel like it. In one, I show what happens in my particular situation, when I go to 1/50th shutter instead of 1/60th:
