Dude, this is a better project progress report than what they have at the project page. The kind of views and news I'd like to see. Hope to get more updates from you soon!
As always, thank you for the time and effort to document the construction. It's amazing to see all the progress they are making, and all the cool details in high resolution drone and on-foot footage.
Thanks for the video! I found it very informative. This is the first video I've come across of yours. It gave me a pleasant "Not Just Bikes" vibe. I just subscribed. 😊
The content I never knew I needed, this is really great stuff. Will be especially good to watch in 10-20 years, when we'll look back and wonder how we suffered through all those years on packed B-lines snaking through traffic for hours.
I remember when the bridge and Scott Rd station were completed/opened, it was such a big deal back then. It definitely started my love of taking trips downtown, buying shirts at the Rock Shop and eating ice cream while getting terribly sunburnt at 3rd beach. Probably way I currently live in Gastown, still absolutely love it down here.
With the boring machines already here in Vancouver ................. the line should continue up to UBC and get the line done!!! It takes forever to build a line in Vancouver or any other city in Canada, when in China ............... lines are build so much faster. Come on Vancouver........... the city should already have 8 or 9 lines!!!!!!!
i get a birds eye view on cambie and broadway working across from it on 2nd floor, ... question where do the truck take the dirt to? and this is any young kids dream to watch all day, remembering my nephews when they were toddlers
It will remain a massive headache until early 2026. That aside, there will be a day when we look back at this time in Vancouver history and ride this new line taking for granted all the slow moving work it takes
Wow! Thanks for documenting this. When you're just walking past all the time, it feels like nothing is happening forever and ever and construction is just in the way. This gives me a lot of perspective! Do you know if they're planning on opening all the stations at once? Or will it be a gradual opening of each one down the line?
Im just curious dis you get any licenses to fly a drone in these areas. My drone is been sitting in the storage for 6 years now. Since i can't fly anywhere.
@@theorganguy oh I know, but there wasn't the political will or funding to make it happen in 1 phase. When it does finally get out to UBC, everyone will be asking why didn't we do it 20 years sooner.
Thanks for the warning about the several boring operations. I'll say. Elsie is such a snooze fest. And Phyllis. Phyllis is almost ready. But she's pure tedium. Like watching paint dry. Boring. Thank God you mentioned the existing strike to liven things up. Nothing like a strike to break up the monotony.
Subway skytrain? Isn't that an oxymoron? The whole point of a "subway" is that it goes underground. That's the "sub" part. So a skytrain is not a subway. If part of it is underground and part of it is elevated then it's just confusing. I just call it a metro in that case. I know, I'm being pedantic.
It is a light metro, correct. However, even at opening in 1985, the Expo Line was mostly elevated with a short underground tunneled section (Waterfront to Stadium, in the old Dunsmuir Tunnel). And there are plenty of other subway systems with elevated sections such as Toronto and NYC, so the mix of above and below-ground sections is not unique to Vancouver.
It's an extension of an existing SkyTrain line, which is mostly elevated. They're not going to rename the entire branding just because few stop extension is going underground
Need to show all the inconvinces to present bus riders on Broadway, bad decision on locations of temporary bus stops, bad decisions on proper safety and fencing etc.

very impressive, thank you for taking the time to document the construction process
Amazing video - this guy is so thorough... He should be our new mayor! 🎉
I like the tighter editing this time around, it was good.
Thanks man! The goal is to get better :)
I hope you will document the Surrey to Langley Skytrain progress too once that starts!!!!😊
You bet! I Will be out there when they start in 2024
The *WHAT* 👁👄👁
Streetcars down the green line and back on False Creek should be a no brainer, ESPECIALLY in the summer!
Broadway Subway chad educating us on one of NA biggest metro projects.
Thanks for this! I haven't lived in Vancouver for 23 years and this brought me back to the original skytrain project in the 80s.

Excellent journalism. I'm so excited to follow this series.
I'm so glad that you took the time to make this video I do appreciate it very much and look forward to more videos.
Ride past this site on the expo line to and from work every day, nice to see a closer look
Awesome overview. Thank you for the update and great visuals!
I didn't know I wanted to watch this video, but it was very entertaining and informative. Great work.
Such great coverage! You’ve definitely earned my sub!
This is awesome thank you
Great update!
Has Elsie left great Northern way yet? I haven't seen any footage of it besides the breakthrough. Would be cool to see it inside the station dugout
Got to see the launch of the TBM up close at site. Fascinating stuff!
I bet! Super jealous!

This is how Eglinton Crosstown should have been built east of Leslie
Great videos, love the drone footage.

Once again you have put together a detailed and informative video. Thank you for the update and I'll be looking forward to the next one.
thanks for this videos!!

They're all supposed to open at once in 2026 (delayed from 2025)
So that's what that giant pit under the street is going to be for...
Thanks for not adding a music track.
Skytrain Subway, Subway Skytrain.
2026! Broadway businesses sure got the shaft!
will there be any shopping, grocery stores in any of the underground stations like we see in Europe?
Unfortunately, no. The buildings that may eventually be built around the stations might.
Are the underground stations supposed to be side loading or island loading or a mix of both?
All 6 stations will be center platform configuration.

The rules for flying drones under 249g are pretty reasonable. tc.canada.ca/sites/default/files/2020-06/2019-2020-AA-33_INFOGRAPHIC_EN_V8.pdf
When can I turn left at Broadway and Cambie?
This line is set to finish when I graduate 😭😭
Can you do another one of these for Spring 2023?
Almost done, should be up by Monday morning!
@@StainerTheFirst I shall look forward to it more than anything else on Monday morning!
How far are each columns far one another?
From what I can see, it's roughly 30 meters
I thought this goes right thru to UBC? a bus loop instead??
It's going to be built in 2 phases. Hopefully it will be out to UBC around 2030 if all goes well.
@@StainerTheFirst makes no sense to take the TBMs out

is this connected to intercity rail?
Sadly not, we don't have intercity rail in the region yet :(

I know, it feels wrong.

You're right, but it still feels weird calling it subway skytrain.
