Nice 👍 .. old school .. thanks for sharing. In South Africa, 'Grits' is also one of our favourites. Maize Meal .. known there as 'Mielie Pap' (Maize Porridge) or 'Putu Pap'. Cooked in three different ways .. 'slap pap' (sloppy), 'stywe pap' (stiff) and 'krummel pap' (crumbly). Beside breakfast, a 'must have' as a side dish with an Onion and Tomato-based Gravy, especially with the latter two forms, at a 'Braai' (Barbeque). 'Kom, laat ons Braai' (come, let's Barbeque) being only 2nd to one of our other National Sports, Rugby. Take care ..
Love that stove, my dad had the same one in the 60s. Thanks for the nostalgia. Have you tried Jimmy Red grits? They take 30 minutes to cook, but they are delicious! Try adding a bay leaf to the grits while they cook.
