അശോകൻ ഒക്കെ ഏതു റേഞ്ചിലെത്തണ്ട ആക്ടർ ആയിരുന്നു...
One of the earlier malayalam movies which I had seen in theater with my parents. . And a coincidence was that, almost after 15 years, we bought a house at Vattiyoorkavu (Kuruvikkadu), which was exactly the place where the house Tabalist Ayyappan brings Rohini. According to the local people, it was an old house, which was demolished after 2 or 3 years from the release of the movie.
What a coincidence? I also watched it last week. Each character is sketched so carefully and each and every actor has done justice to their respective characters. I couldn't help but guess that the culprit was Venu Nagavally in the first scene when he comes late for the trip. Another underappreciated acting would be Jagathy. The scene where he tells Thilakan to register a complain is classic. That's a very important scene.

@Janani Iyer- Yes but for me, Jagathy's ultimate performance in this film was during the interrogation session when Mammotty sarcastically asks whether he regards himself as a great comedian and the reply he gives is really sad. Then all of a sudden he goes into his energetic self when the Mammotty continues with his main interrogation. Also the scenes where Jagathy is like so carefree behind the stage, smoking his cigarette and fooling around but on stage he is this serious and sweet personality chanting scriptures. That's the beauty of this whole film- how it captures behind the scenes life, on stage life and the overall situation that is going on outside. It is a perfect example of on-screen and off-screen drama.... and the film that showcases that at the end of the day, we are all actors in our masks in real life too!

😳 Yavanika !!! Didn’t get a chance to watch it in theatre but I watched many times..Such a fantastic movie, in all sense. So great acting by everyone, Nedumudi Venu, Jagathi, but some reasons I like Venu Nagavalli’s performance the most. Beautiful time, probably the golden time of malayalam cinema.

It's been a long 39 years since this movie was released. You would have a great knowledge about cinema after watching many movies from different languages around the world including malayalam but still as a mystery thriller Yavanika still shines even after so many years.
