    Required Materials:
    • Plastic or metal sheet for stretching the aluminum folio: The acetates sold in stationery stores in 0.45 micron are the most ideal sheet to stretch the aluminum folio. It is easy to cut acetates, and they are not heavy.
    • Aluminum folio in the form of roll that will be used as mould and on which the work will be drawn. These types of folios are easily available in many markets, and the ones that are thicker are stronger and endurable. For this reason, the mould-type aluminum folio should be preferred.
    • There are many alternatives for drawing. The oil pen, acetate pen or the eyeliner used in Lithography are the ideal drawing tools. Aside from these, wax, pieces of soap and oil pastel may also be used for drawing.
    • Instead of nitric acid, coke is used as corrosive. The cokes that include phosphoric acid should be preferred.
    • Vegetable oil.
    • A rolling pin with medium-hardness to apply the paint onto the drawing.
    • Printing ink or oil paint.
    • Two pieces of natural sponge to moisten the surface of the sheet.
    • A wooden spoon that will be used to transfer the work to paper.
    • A paper towel that will be used to increase the pressure when transferring the work onto paper.
    • A spatula that will be used to mix the paint.
    • Powder that will be used to decrease the stickiness of the paint.
    • Adhesive tape to fix the aluminum folio to the surface.

    French Émilie Aizier started to try and develop this technique in 2009. In 2011, Émilie was accepted as the inventor of this technique, and named this technique as “Kitchen Lithography”.
    "Kitchen lithography" is one of the new (alternative) printmaking techniques. Kitchen lithography is alternative to traditional lithography. It is seen that unlike the traditional lithography, kitchen lithography can be applied without harmful chemicals (acid, thinner types, etc.). Compared to traditional lithography in this technique results are received faster and students or artists doesn't have to work in a specifically arranged studio.

    Hi! I have just tried this technique today but ran into an issue after the etching stage. Although I could see the etched area under light after cleaning with oil, I could not get the ink to stick anywhere on the plate. I am using a thick and sticky etching ink and also tried losing it with a could drop of oil. I have tried a few different oil pencils and also tried etching in coke for longer. Neither wiping or rolling seems to work.
    Any insights would be a big help. Thanks for the excellently presented video

    İyi çalışmalar. Çok merak ettiğim bir konuydu. Ben bu çalışmayı okulda öğrencilerle yapmak istiyorum boya olarak litografi/linol boyası aldım ama su bazlı olanından aldım temizlemesi ve çalışması daha kolay olur diye acaba matbaa boyası olmadığı için bir sorun yaşarmıyım yoksa illaki yağlı matbaa boyası mı olmalı.

    • @ArtBahar
      @ArtBahar  Год назад +1

      Merhaba, kitchen litografi klasik anlamadaki litografiye alternatif bir tekniktir. Litografide işlem fiziksel değil kimyasal olarak gerçekleştirilmektedir. Bu tekniğin temel özelliği yağ ve suyun birbirini itmesidir. Bu nedenle teknikte kullanılan boyanın yağ bazlı olması gerekmektedir. Kısaca bu tekniği uygulayabilmeniz için yağ bazlı bir boyaya ihtiyacınız var. Su bazlı linol boyası ile sonuç alamazsınız. Matbaa mürekkebi kullanmanız gerekiyor. Yağlı boya ile de sonuç almıştım fakat boyanın kıvamını arttırmanız gerekiyor yoksa merdanede tutunmuyor. Yağlı boyaya biraz pudra ekleyebilirsiniz. İyi çalışmalar

    Why does the ink not stick to the rest of the foil? Does the reaction of the crayon and cola cause the foil to bulge out or in? Im so confused how this works.

    • @ArtBahar
      @ArtBahar  4 месяца назад +3

      Because those parts are moist. That's why those parts don't take the ink. The main principle of the technique is that oil and water do not mix. Since cola does not affect the areas we draw, these parts will take paint. It is similar to a classical printmaking technique such as lithography. You can read my article for more information: dergipark.org.tr/en/download/article-file/777005 Thanks :)
