the 80's won't die because there is more to goth music than the 80s. goth culture WILL die however if people don't branch out and listen to modern goth music.
@kennethbartlett4302 Yep. That's why it's called Darkwave. Basically the antithesis to New wave. Both arose out of the post-punk movement started by Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Joy Division, etc...
@@chalkdeamon6070 Yeah, as a support act of a headliner - I'm not even quite sure who. Probably Machine Head. I still enjoy more Machine Head studio albums than Type O Negative's but, awww, in live, they were so mesmerizing from the FIRST note of Peter's voice. All the audience literally rushed to the stage like metal to magnet when he started to sing! In Paris around Y2K. Never saw that before or after again, although I attended 100s of gigs, but not these 2 bands again tbh.
The 80s synth/new wave/post punk sound will always be the best. Hence why it made a comeback in the early 2000s with bands like the killers, Franz Ferdinand, interpol, bloc party, arcade fire, wolf parade and even currently with many current bands and pop acts. It's ear candy.
Think I'm on watch 13 😅 she did fantastic. There's confusion, fear, and terror displayed in her facial expressions and body language. The cherry on top were the dream images where everything seemed pleasant and beautiful. I can interpret that two different ways: either the Monolith was manufacturing these images in order to lure and weaken it's prey, or her mind broke in such a way that it was scrambling to create these false images in a failing effort to keep her psyche from falling into the abyss. All that to the back drop of a badass (retro 80's, goth, dark synth wave, whatever you wanna call it) track
This is where music should be heading, and it should have never left! The 80s UK style, with bands like Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division, and Echo & the Bunnymen, represents a golden era of sound that was both innovative and timeless. These bands knew how to blend electronic beats with real emotion, creating tracks that were more than just songs; they were experiences. There was something special about that mix of dark, moody synths with catchy, danceable rhythms. It defined a generation and set the bar for what music could be. The raw emotion, the layered soundscapes, and those introspective lyrics hit hard, offering something far beyond the superficial hits that often dominate today's charts. The Cure's melancholic anthems, The Smiths' poetic angst, and Joy Division's haunting melodies really captured the essence of a complex and often turbulent time. Echo & the Bunnymen brought a psychedelic edge, while Depeche Mode and New Order pushed the boundaries of electronic music, creating sounds that still feel fresh today. It is time for a revival. An era where music does not just fill the silence but speaks to the soul, challenges the mind, and moves the body. Let us bring back the spirit of the 80s, where every track had a story, every beat had a purpose, and music was more than just background noise; it was a journey.
2023 must of been shitty, antidepressent-addled year for you then. have you heard of The Cure? Or Sister of Mercy? Both bands are probably twice this one's age and still sound 4x better today!

Now that that's been addressed, did either band release any new material in 2023? No, they did not. And given that they both peaked in the late 80's it'd be a good bet that it wouldn't have been as good as this song anyway. The imagery of spreading darkness, horror at loss of the pure and clean self, contrasted with imagined peace and splendor in the (literally rose tinted) hallucinations. It feels very focused on what image and story do to people who don't fit into them. When taken with the repeated lyrics of "the light will cast me aside" and the refrain of "me envenena, te envenena" (spanish for 'it poisons me, it poisons you'), the song and video makes me think about growing up queer in the conservative south. I don't like to speculate about other real people, but I have to imagine this feeling is pretty familiar as well for two latino goths from south Texas. Sometimes it really does feel like the light has cast you aside, that you're doomed to carry a darkness that's no fault of your own, but that you must trust in yourself despite ancient lies and the poison of dogma.
Just my opinion, but I see this as being poisoned by the elite/society/modern day culture. Our hearts tell us that this isn’t right, but we’re constantly exposed to it and then infected. In reality, our spirit and body rejects this invasion of lies (this is why we’re truly unhappy), but it’s already caused you to be addicted to easy dopamine sources, like social media, junk food, and other ways they keep you enslaved.

As far as music videos go, this is really art. You guys had a whole storyline and everything, all the clean shots juxtaposed against the black paint of the monolith, really great job. That was enjoyable, what a great way to start the weekend.
I honestly see this video as a parralel as well of a bad manic episode, almost being split between 2 different worlds/conciousness. The video (and song) is so rad even without thinking of that.
I thought I put this away with Echo and the Bunnymen, and Bauhaus... Glad you kids are getting it back out and dusting my old LP's off! LP's are the best way to hear this stuff! Front 242, next in the chute!!!!

🕺🕺🦇🦇🐦⬛🐦⬛🐦⬛
Okay that was gold
Love it
Chortle..
I started listening to this song in november and i cant believe im into this kind of music. This song is too good. I love twin tribes so much !
They are one of the best bands of the genre today! I love you and thank you very much for existing! without music life has no meaning 💜
As far as music videos go, this is really art. You guys had a whole storyline and everything, all the clean shots juxtaposed against the black paint of the monolith, really great job. That was enjoyable, what a great way to start the weekend.
Holy shit... Instant classic.
Surreal o nível que esses caras chegaram. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Brasileiro aqui

This song blew me away! The visuals and the beautiful dancing too! Lovely!!! Shout out from JA 🇯🇲

3:00😍
It’s the worst part for me 😢
Nobody talks about this part and it’s easily the best bit of the song
I cried in a playback, it’s like being in a mental warfare episode.🖤🖤🖤

Wow, what a beautiful and haunting track.
Also this video elicited a profound emotional response in me. The performer did an absolutely sublime interpretation.
And she’s sexy as hell

Day 1 of thinking goth was dead. Then being glad it wasn't. This is a banger.
Thats a mock goth in a pop format
love the inspiration "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Possession" & "Colour out of space" had on this videoclip!
i just saw this live and it was the best experience ever man
That guitar work is so hypnotic
C'était génial 😍 merci Luis and Joel We love you
A true gem, from Texas!
Together with the mysterious video, the new song comes into its own.

#LYRICS
Trust in me
I will rise
Through the fire, in the sky
Set me free
Ancient lies
Is this peace divine?
The light will cast me aside
Me envenena
Te envenena
Trust in me
As I am
Shattering inside
The vision upon us
The memory remains
Nothing to defy
The light will cast me aside
Bring me to silence
A rite for the heart
Bring me to silence
Through the light
Me envenena
Te envenena
I can't get over how amazing this is. One of the best new tracks i've heard in a long time.
Goodness.. I can't believe such music exists nowadays
Is it really 2024 now and not 1984?
This band should be really popular
Te envenenaa!!!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤
😮😮😮😮 this was amazing all the way around. The girl was amazing in this video and very pretty in darkness and light. This is my new favorite song!!!
