@@pascalchristenI think those are short snowboards on each foot, if I remember correctly. The clip I referenced was when he put ski bindings on water skis and put them sideways down the mountain to show what water skis could do and why he wanted to bring those theories into powder skis.
I was one of the lucky ones that spent a few days on the mountain with Shane when they came to film in the Tetons. I had sent an audition tape to Steve Winters and got the nod to come film in the Jackson side country. First run, I watch Shane send a huge backie (with backpack) in marginal conditions off a cliff he'd never seen before. When asked what I was planning, all I could say was save the film for him... We watched Something About Shane (I think he sent a copy to the friend we stayed with in Wilson) not too long after that and realized how big of an honor is was to chase him around on that adventure. RIP and Aloha Shane ❣❣❣
Great tribute guys...been a fan of Matchstick for over 20 years, and Shane's segments were always some of my favorites. Can't say I ever got anywhere near his ability or confidence, but watching his videos when we'd come in after a day on the mountain was a big part of why we kept going out the next day. Thanks for putting this out there :)
Such an inspiration, I never met him in person but he inspired me so much in my twenties and thirties to go have adventures and enjoy life to it’s fullest!
Legend of legends.... un pionero del freeski, sin duda alguna un referente en este mundo... una gran pérdida su muerte. Gran trabajo... a ver si hacéis lo mismo con Cadide Thovex o Seth Morrison... sería genial. Enhorabuena
Old guy skied with him when he was 10 down GOATS Gully,He was teaching me cool tricks...did a photo shoot with him and his Dad Jim at the Whistler Heli Pad the Year before he died..he gave me a BIG HUG......said thanks Finnster I never got to spend a lot of time ith my Dad SHANE WE LOVE YOUR STYLE,,Namaste good Friend.......Finnster
I miss that son of a bitch (sorry Shane's mom, you are probably very very awesome). Today's skier's might say Candide is the greatest skier, but he doesn't have the personality and charisma Shane had nor did he reinvent the sport with rocker technology the entire industry adapted. To Shane, he wasn't just the greatest skier of all-time, he is one of the greatest people of all-time. Today, despite several injuries (life threatening and others that just sucked) I still live my life like the way you taught us all. Thank you Shane!
Dude you can be your authentic self this day and age nobody will give you a hard time about how much you love cock . You are fooling anyone anyway nobody else saw a dude naked and needed to pretend that they arent about it. Enjoy dudes butthole my friend .
The GOAT. Shane is one of the reasons I moved to a ski town 23 years ago. I will be skiing on my pon2oons tomorrow. RIP
Biggest catalyst of our time! Absolute BALLER. We miss him ❤
Love and Miss Shane...
Never met him.. But he inspires me every breathing day
So stoked to have been an SV passholder through the McConkey Days. Thanks Shane!
Happy birthday Shane. Thank you for everything
People should know that McConkey is responsible for changing the ski shape for skiing powder! McConka Donk lives on on!
It wasn't "German engineering" 😂

Love you Shane!!!
The G.O.A.T.
I remember i was in a bump contest with him. He throw a back flip and got kicked out. So he decided to poach the competition and ran the course
Naked and throw 2 Hugh spread eagles. Got himself kicked off the mountain. We got hammered that night. Respect bro. Still missed 😢
Ha! Awesome…

"It don't mean shit if you don't make it stick" - Jim McConkey, when asked what he thought of skiers going for big air
" Konk " was sick.. But, I am the best skier ever. Prove me wrong.
