    This guy is trustworthy. Doesn't blow smoke and probably understates the effectiveness and productivity from his products. A good rep is worth his weight in gold.

      +Jared Moorman Do you know what it is the most valuable treasure nowadays? Information and its management so you can take a decision with a minimum risk to make a mistake.
      If he gets a benefit it's because he is spending his time to give us his opinion so we can take a decision if we consider it.

    We put those on. Pain in the ass. Rolls work good though. We have them on a 693. Plan a whole day to change them.

    So I saw online that the rollers are $950 a pair so a 6 row machine would be $5,700. Yikes. At $3.75/bushel that would be 1520 bushels. On a 200 bu/acre field that's 7.6 acres to cover the cost of the rollers alone. That's assuming you take home $3.75/bu after transportation etc. Farmers do go through money rather quickly...

      Wow that is pretty steep... regular rolls from Worthington Ag parts are about $70 each or $140 a pair... for a six row head that'd be about $840 (plus shipping).
      They better do a darn good job for that kind of money. I could see spending say $300-400 a row but $900 a row is too salty for me... Better hope they work.
      I'm not sure what the "usual working life" of the regular Deere rolls are projected to be or *supposed* to be-- I know I've seen a LOT of corn heads with rolls that were pretty much shot still picking corn... they've got to be *REALLY* bad before they start plugging up more than they're picking, I know that, and optimally you'd want to replace them LONG before you get to that point...
      He said in the video that the company has seen 450 acres per row and not worn them out yet... so on a six row head that'd be 2700 acres... which if they're farming about 1100-1200 acres, that'd be about two years. IMHO they better last a LOT longer than that for that kind of money! I'm interested to see how these work out and how long they *actually* last in the field before I pass judgment...
      LOTS of stuff gets invented and marketed and sold as "the next big thing" and "the better mousetrap" but when the rubber meets the road it's too expensive, doesn't last long enough, or doesn't have enough advantage to pay for itself over the long haul. If these rolls last a LONG time (say 4-5 years) before they degrade their performance enough to need replacing, which should be pretty similar to regular stock Deere rolls at $70 each, and they're doing a great job of residue management, then they're probably a real good investment (though still awfully expensive for what they're doing). If they only last 2-3 years and they're shot, then I for one would be "no way"...
      Later! OL J R :)

    How many rolls are on the combine head? Just the two?

    • @jaredmoorman1300
      @jaredmoorman1300 6 лет назад

      Jim Estep 2 per row

    • @45Deere9500
      @45Deere9500 6 лет назад

      Jim Estep
      There are 2 rolls per row, so on their head there are 12 total. Of those 12 rolls, there are 6 right and 6 left rolls.
