This video gave us a good look at your wood working shop & a good run down on the equipment (I wish it was mine). A good explanation of the 'moulding machine' too. I think your idea of another shed next door for your kiln dried lumber is a great idea as well. Cheers, Don from South Australia.
I am always in awe of the wood coming off your sawmill. I also really like your multiple shots very much. I hope that the camera hit by the wood was an old one on its way out…
Hello again from Nashville! Love this in-depth look at your operations! I want thank you for your Guild offer. I now have my first year subscription locked in. I know it’s going to be very enjoyable and informative. I love learning new things. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Nathan, pay no mind to the ignorant trolls, to me, for what its worth, you are a good man and a role model. I appreciate you sharing your life, its inspirational 👍🏻
Nathan, put a wye connection and blast gate just after it comes from the multi ports and run the second hose along the ceiling and hook that to the planers? That way no tripping?
I learned early on, that a clean workshop is no place to finish anything. Tiny dust particles will be floating around for days. However, in a dirty shop they do not. Having dust on the equipment, floor etc keeps the air clean and all I can chalk it up to is static. Pay attention to this for it's true.
Now that was some mighty fine lumber making, you have a great lumber making operation Nathan. Thanks for sharing with us today, going back through the different steps was awesome. Stay safe and keep up the great work around there. I like your idea of a milled lumber storage building. Fred.
Nathan, thank you friend for sharing your experience in woodworking love to see your videos. I know there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes activity it takes to make these videos love to see more. Looking forward to seeing the next videos. Thanks again for sharing. 🪵😎👍
Thank you for proudly displaying the flags..I was about to comment on the flag hanging my friend but I see someone else brought it up.. also any other flags such as the tn flag should be to the flags left which would be the observers right. Love your videos and wood working.
Nathan; check out Shop Nation for their new miter saw collection boot kit. I put one on mine and it directs almost all the dust to a shop vac or dust collector. I used their hose to a 2” x 4 “ blast gate and then into a 4” dust collection port at my jet dust collector.
Nathan. What is the purpose if the white fingers hanging down at the back of the saw head? Love your channel and wish I had done the same here in Western Australia years ago when I was younger.
Hi, sorry. I received your note. Am haven't been able to reply as my capabilities on this rig are not good. So thanks, i will keep trying to complete this. Maybe later.
🙏inspired to write🙏 ....thank you for the tour. You are living my fathers dream, when I was too young to understand. (rural Estacada, OR..mid60s) 🙏...should be a good market for small pieces,..a lot of us are small shops that could turn your scrap into art. 🙏the end....@26:10 ..stop, *thunk*, guitar!🙏
great setup,,yep you can always use the room,,,long as you stay warm,,i dont like a cold shop...when its zero out side..i got 2 very heavy duty Table Saws,,but there 220 volts,,and im off grid,,,maybe someday ill get it again....stay warm
for your shared dust collector hose hook-ups, why not attach some straps with hooks, then install hangers from the beams, and you will have your planer connection from above and not snaking across the floor
For those wondering why Nathan hasn't finished the doors for the woodshop, I am certain that it is because he has spent so much time working on the siding for the chicken house. The chickens keep them in eggs and he wants nice siding on their house to thank them for all the hard work making the eggs Thanks for the video
Great video Nathan, i do so appreciate your work and the fantastic life you’ve created for yourself and your family. Keep up the amazing work you’re doing. 👍🏼👍🏼
Just a bit of knowledge. Your United States flag is backwards. When hung vertically the blue field is on the left. Just to let you know. Love your videos. From a US Army veteran!
Where are your ear protection ? I learned my lesson after 30 years of damage and partial deafness. Think of that high pitched sound as a needle in a recording studio cutting wax. Thats exactly what happens to your hearing. My 5 minute rant is over. Love your shows all the time. You have no idea how much you have inspired me.
Thanks for the tour. I signed up with your sponsor using your link. I would love to see how the dust collector is set up to vent outside. I want to do that in my shop.
Nathan, you must have a very tolerant wife in order for you to have so many tools. Even though I’m an old retired carpenter my wife would kill me if I tried to acquire so many tools and equipment. Love watching, keep up the good work.
Great looking and organized shops and tools. Only thing is the American Flag hung in the Vertical should have the stars up and to the left of the observer. Sometimes video shows the opposite side of reality but it didn’t seem that case.
Not always able to jugde the thickness of the lumber you are processing but the Red Oak you were cutting today looked more like 2 by instead of flooring thickness.
Nathen, I made kind of a snarky comment about why you didn'build a wood table down at your sawmill instead of using a purchased steel table. I apologize! You ARE a woodworker. Your shop is impressive and so are your talents. Thanks.
He’s just got so many irons in the fire I 100%certain he’d love to cut design and build everything from wood he has milled. The guy I think works 18-20 hours a day. He shoots and edits all of his videos himself.
Hello from Sweden! I also have this mp260 But what is that final cutter? Name of it? Is there any video where you show how to change to it? Thanks! /Tobias
So you took it down to 4/4 with your grizzly planer then 3/4 with the 4 sided molder? If you wanted to can you back the upper face and lower face cutters off and just work the edges?
Nathan, if I saw it correctly on the WM moulder, the second (far) moulder head appears to be setup to run counterclockwise. In essence creating a "climb" cut as the board passes through the machine left to right. Does Wood-Mizer explain the reason for this orientation? (This five plus decades woodworker is curious.) As always, I enjoy your videos immensely.
My name is Chauncey Funk and I am a wood shop teacher, bunkbed/furniture maker near St Joseph Mo & I have a portable saw mill that I make lumber for my self and customers. In the newest video i noticed that the log holder/stabilizer on your LT70 being close to your saw blade. My question is does the saw mill auto adjust so that the blade does not hit the holder or do you have to move it down from your control panel?
@ mercer, hung flag rules require constant illumination, should Nathan erect a dedicated spot lamp or leave the shop lights on perpetually❓ The mattress police are now joined by the nonpublic flag police.
Question it appears you don’t have constant heat I am lucky I do. What do you do to keep rust off all the beautiful tools. My heat is at 50 in winter in iowa and it keeps rust to a minimum. It’s a beautiful shop please from an old guy use those before you can’t I no longer can stand long to use my shop well unless I am sitting down peace my friend
Granted I'm not there with my eyes on things so based only on the camera views you provide. Methinks one could in a pinch go to say Lowe's and pick up a piece of unistrut to use as a fence on that molder. Obviously I could be wrong and it might be more work than it's worth.
@OutoftheWoods0623 I follow this guy on YT that has kits to convert 2 shipping containers into a shop/covered area. I'm in no way affiliated with him. I just enjoy the possibilities it presents for shop/coverage solution on the cheap. Hope this helps. @thecontainerguytv
Very impressive collection of shops and tools for woodworking. Wonder how many drool over your tools, shops, and machinery for multiple tasks. It is quite evident, Nathan, is allergic to manual labor.
Nathan not to be picky the star and stripes should always be displayed with stars always be in the upper left corner. Just saying. Love your show old veteran.
With so many underutilized power tools, there are many custom future directions that your business may pursue. A problem might expose that these specialized tools involve customized output which is very labor intensive. The question is whether the local market is willing to pay those labor $$ ❓ Just because you are able to do a task, should you❓An example is post/beam fabrication utilizing the plunge saw. Sadly, the only customer willing to consistently pay the labor $ to employ all of these specialized tools is, Nathan Elliott. The down & dirty fact is that the LT-70 coupled w/ your kiln, is the only genuine profit center on the farm. Yes the edger will contribute, but steady diet of the 4S planer, custom moldings, & other shapes requires speed & output beyond the capabilities of a one man operation. 👮🇺🇸🗽👉🏃🙏👌
Nathan, I'm 100% sure you mean no disrespect but as a 30 year vet of the military I feel compelled to point out that you've displayed the American flag incorrectly on the wall of your shop. Here's how it should be displayed in your setting. "When the flag is hung vertically on a wall, window, or door, the union (blue section) should be to the observer’s left. When the flag is hung either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be to the observer’s left."

I notice you still havent got around to fitting your aircon units yet Nathan lol🤣🤣🤣

Build a table on wheels to move lumber in your workshop for when you have back problems. It will save you time and effort not just your back.

I noticed your vertical hung US flag is backwards. The blue field should be top left same as when horizontal.
Please wear ear protection when using the moulded. The machine sounds pretty loud in the video and your headphones were hanging on the moulder!
I was. Small ear buds

I think your workshop is not a storage barn. Build a dedicated storage barn for your wood.
Your flag is hung the wrong way. The union (blue field and stars) should be to the flags upper right, that is to the upper left for the observer.
