    Listen to the OR (ca 68-69) or even 2005 remaster - the warm tones starting ~32-34 seconds in are amazing. And even more fascinating is Jorma's work on the JA version.

    I’ve been in love w/ falcons since I first saw them...the bow wow wow video with Matt Ashton playing his white falcon to “I want candy “ ...he could play too it wasn’t for show...the instrument is deserving of its legendary status IMO

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  3 года назад +4

      Agreed. That Bow Wow Wow video turned me onto Falcons. It looked absolutely massive on Matt Ashton, which was so cool, like he tamed this huge beast. And then there was Annabella...

    • @john84896
      @john84896 3 года назад +1

      Anabella ❤️❤️🔥
      The band was built around this beauty...the bass player was a very good flat picking bass player with a real percussive feel and the drummer slammed away with the “baramundi “ drum style...so described by Malcolm McClaren lol
      ...there is a similarity with Adam Ants sound and legend has it that bow wow wow were Adam Ants band before Malcom snatched them n started Bow wow....interestingly enuff...Marco Pironi of the Ants plays a beautiful falcon in Ant videos...and he bought it off Brian Setzer (who uses that falcon in the stray cat strut video) ...Brian tried to buy it back from Marco but allegedly Marco did not want to part with it for sentimental reasons...hey it was Adam n the Ants n they shook up the scene just like the Stray Cats...great story n legacy for the Gretch lovers out there-
      ....and James don’t forget to look at Duo Jets...Billy Zoom cmon now!

    • @cass2771
      @cass2771 7 месяцев назад

      The Falcons are lovely. I’m keen on a lot Gretsch has to offer - that Great G sound (so much ‘air’in the notes!), the control layout (I’m keen on the master volume, and the tone switch), the thumbnail markers give the fretboard a classy look, they’re well put together, and I just feel great holding one!

    As I heard it, Crosby wrote the music. Paul Kantner and Stephen Stills wrote the lyrics.
    The Jefferson Airplane do a good version

      It's on Stephen's "Just Roll Tape" in '68, I'm sure David helped with arrangement for it with CSN, but I thought it was Stephen's song?

      The sci-fi / apocalyptic vision seems to me so much more like Kantner than Crosby, no disrespect at all to Crosby. In fact, he gave Kantner his Have You Seen the Stars Tonight for Kantners masterpiece Blow Against the Empire. Agree, Airplane version is better with 3 great vocalists IMHO
