Her control is beyond amazing and when coupled with the vocal gymnastic changes she applies within lyrical lines are something Billie Holiday invented. No one emulated Billie properly before Angelina for the simple reason that it is a very difficult, complex endeavor to attempt and Angelina is truly the only singer I have ever heard who could do it on Billie's level of extreme excellence.
Oh man, this it for me. I love all versions of this song, some more than others, but this is a Masterpiece on a different level. She commonly makes me tear up, but this one made me cry like a baby. Haven't done that since she sang My Funny Valentine, over 2 years ago. I knew from a couple of recent "teasers," that this was going to be my favorite version of this song, but hearing the whole thing was overwhelming. There is no doubt in my mind that she is the best vocal artist of my lifetime. No one else is even close!!! Thanks Pontus, this was great.

With measured musical accompaniment...That shows her at her best....that allows her genius to shine...this is a remarkable version of the song...so much more emotional...so much deeper than the earlier versions. This is Angelina's lane, singing jazz. She can sing any genre better than anyone, we've heard it. But this, good heavens it is from a different era. Angelina's understanding of this style come from deep inside her soul. As far as I'm concerned this is the direction Angelina should go, a jazz singer like Diana Krall or Gretchen Parlato. Angelina is absolutely amazing and way to good for the pop genre.

Angelina has known her sound since she was a child but to make it modern and current, I think Toby is helping a great deal here as they work together.

Hej. Jag hörde Angelina på SVT när hon var gäst 8 år gammal. Kunde inte glömma flickan. Många år sedan började leta efter olika jazz versioner olika låtar och hittade henne igen. Jag öppnade kannal bara att kan prenumerera på henne. Lyssnar henne varje dag och allt som är kopplat med henne. Hon lugnar mig, fyller mig med speciell känsla.....kan inte beskriva det. Jag bor 20 år I Sverige och känner stolthet att hon har koppling med Sverige genom pappa.....Jag vet hur ni mår när ni lyssnar på henne. Hoppas att hon kommer en dag i Malmö eller Köpenhamn att jag kan se henne live.
Wow Pontus, you have a reaction! I was able to hear this earlier and boy is it different! It's a little more slower, but really jazzy. Angelina is back in her element and her vocals are so on point it this type of music. I really like this version! Makes me wonder what the video will be like. These vocals are out of this world. Feels like each new song she does get better and better! I've been playing this on a loop since I got it. Love it!

Hi Pontus.....really enjoyed your discussion....this tine Angelina is covering her own song in a similar way she covered Suspicious Minds, Wake Me Up, and so many of other songs.... like you said making it another song.... with a different meaning and significance. Toby Gad is clearly supporting her unique genius and talent. This pure jazz version of Bad Valentine is outstanding and exceptional.
Slowed down and in a key 2 full steps lower. Stunning, melancholic, beautiful all wrapped together. And the arrangement is superb. This is a new Angelina. Perhaps record labels push their artists to establish themselves on TikTok and other social media, as Toby Gad has suggested. Toby is demonstrating the untapped hidden gems Angelina has possessed. I hope Toby and Angelina have a long association. Id anything is Grammy worthy this is it!

Angelina has known her sound since she was a child but to make it modern and current, I think Toby is helping a great deal here as they work together.

This is astonishing, even more so when you consider she’s still a teenager.
I know she’s trying lots of things at the moment in conjunction with great support from the likes of Toby, Republic Records and others, but if she had to pick one genre this is it… Jazz is her absolute wheelhouse without a doubt, she has the potential to be the greatest female jazz artist of all time!
When she sings jazz, accompanied by a single instrument, the piano typically, something magical happens like time stops for a moment…… there is nobody who can touch her!
Love the full jazz version of her latest release, I can’t help but get the feeling this version might have been created first as everything about it is intuitively brilliant, and the more mainstream pop ballad version came second, but was released first for commercial reasons!

This is truly a wonderful song performed by a fantastic singer-songwriter who manages to change and improve every time, even in a short time, continually surprising us. The variations in her interpretations of this beautiful song, in these few months, are absolutely incredible and truly brilliant. I love this melancholic jazz version of hers, it is simply out of this world what she can do with her voice, it is totally unreal!
