  • Please Subscribe ! This is a Hang Gliding Video of a flight I had at Torrey Pines in Southern California on Thanksgiving 2018. Torrey Pines is one of my favorite places to fly Hang Gliders when I am in So-Cal. Awesome flight park and some of the most beautiful scenery on earth to fly over.

It seems strange that you say "safe pilots clip in before take off" The safe way would be to clip the harness in and then include the clip in harness as a part of the preflight check. Thats how we do it in Australia. I remember years ago seeing US pilots turning up at the local sites and walking around with their harness before take off on in 40 celcius / 104 Fahrenheit. It did not look right, it looked dangerous.Sorry for the rant. But great video!

Thank You , Yes it would be best to clip the harness in first like you stated as long as your harness allows for you to get into it while its clipped to the glider. My harness doesn't allow for that as well as other harnesses like cocoon's, knee hangers, older pods, etc ….

you're absolutely correct, and it's the reason we still have people launch unhooked. By doing it the correct way (your way) you can properly pre-flight the harness ON the glider BEFORE climbing into the glider. I don't know why people walk around in their harness? one of the mysteries of life I guess. The harness should be thought of as part of the glider not part of the pilot. Essentially the cockpit..
