I do want to make it clear, since I didn't really cover the game in-depth in this video, that I still think The Last of Us is a great game. Overrated? Yes. But at the time it pushed boundaries for what storytelling in video games was capable of. I'll flesh out a few of my points in this comment if you're interested in reading my extended thoughts: 1) Combat is intense, guns feel powerful, and it's very easy to make a mistake and die. These are all good things. But the enemy variety is severely lacking. Most human enemies are functionally the same, and unlike F.E.A.R., the AI doesn't perfectly mesh with the level design to create the illusion of real intelligence. The AI is more complex than most games but that's not saying much. Zombie encounters feel far too similar to one another, heavily relying on the level design to feel unique, and lack the complexity of human enemies. Why are there only 3 types of zombies? Left 4 Dead 2 came out years before this. 2) The story itself is basic and full of tropes, but is carried by the superb voice acting, animation, and dialogue. Without a doubt, this is the selling point of the game and why it's considered one of the greatest of all time. The problem is when it cuts into the gameplay. I forgot to cover this in the video, but you are railroaded in gameplay because certain scenes have to happen (like the sniper clip). There's also many immersion-breaking moments like the .50 cal turret on the armored car not being able to penetrate wood or sheet metal. Or, more famously, Ellie and other followers wandering into line-of-sight of enemies and not getting discovered. Also, where are the semi-auto rifles/carbines? The apocalypse happened in 2013, the AR-15 had been publicly sold for decades. The story causes conflicts with gameplay that you're more likely to notice on a 2nd playthrough. 3) "Realism" seems to be an increasing problem in modern games. Especially if we're talking about graphically. There's not a single doubt in my mind that it's the leading cause of development cycles going from 1-2 years in the PS2 era to now 4+ years for most AAA games. Has it been worth the sacrifice? F*** no. Not to mention the woke angle of making characters uglier and more diverse. Another problem is realism in the literal sense. We're seeing less truly creative sci-fi/fantasy games in the AAA space unless they're a long-established IP. All to appeal to the largest demographic possible. tl;dr Gameplay is fine, but not remarkable. Story has extremely good execution but it conflicts with the gameplay. I hate realism in modern games.
good take, tbh your doom eternal review isnt that great but not everyone can like everything and thats fine and tbh i appreciate that you dont shill and if you dont like something your willing to admit to it even if its unpopular
I'm okay with realism in survival games but when it comes to adventure/linear games I agree it doesn't make a lot of sense. I think the real issue with 'modern gaming' is that all the independent companies we loved in the past that made experimental games have been swallowed by the EA/Microsoft conglomerate monster. BioWare was one of my favorite companies of all time and now look at them, cursed to have Anthem hanging over their head for the rest of their existence. I think for me, gaming started it's downtrend when BioWare was acquired and then died after Microsoft acquired Blizzard. Not to say those events are the sole reason these trends happened, but rather 'markers' that designate the slow and painful downfall of any experimentation or joy of games being made to just have fun and not wring every cent from your wallet possible.
your game reccomendation is absolute shit btw. Imma go play last of us part 1, a game made with actual soul and passion instead of a game made in Unity and sold on steam store for 2 dollars.
In all honesty, people who're buying this deserve to be fleeced, it's the only way they'll understand they kneecapped over $70 in their bank account (even if it were $40, you can buy the remasterd for (realistically) $10-$15)
There isn't going to be a TLOU2 Multiplayer. If you don't follow the news regarding these things, I wouldn't speak on them. The standalone multiplayer will 100% use Part 1 as the foundation of everything, not TLOU2. They never said TLOU2 will have multiplayer.
@@tibbayr699 You need to understand: finding worth in something is 100% subjective. I'd have paid 80 for the definitive way to play my favourite game of all time, and I'd buy it on PC and so on. nothing controversial about that ending for me. I murdered every single person in that hospital and did so without mercy or guilt for what they tried to do to Ellie.
Right!? I never understood how people thought killing Ellie would save the world. At ever step along the journey, there was examples after examples and journal entries of the Fireflies being incompetent, foolish, and downright idiotic. One dude got bit by an infected monkey because they are so dumb. Like they were going to go straight to brain surgery instead of running blood tests or anything. Maybe her plasma was the cure, who knows, they sure weren't going to figure it out.

Guys like skill up get a significant part of thier paychecks shilling for these corporations, he'd lose his insider access otherwise. That means say goodbye to those all inclusive trips to LA to test out a game for 2 hours while getting tons of free perks in the process 😉
10:50 Also lets mention how you can find notes on how terrible and dumb the Fireflies are. Like their doctors (or scientists who whoever they were) released infected monkeys that then bit them, turning them into zombies, and escaped. They killed others who were immune and despite that there was no progress on the cure. If Joel left Ellie to be killed by them, the cure wouldn't have been developed as they would have bungled it. And if they did, they would have used it as leverage to control everyone (I remember there's also a note that alludes to that or outright says it). Joel saving Ellie was the right choice. Also I'm still surprised no one made a stink about Abby's dad being whitewashed.
the stupid part is, as someone who is a med student, you wouldn't even need to kill the immune to get what you want. As an example, a biopsy, immune cell samples, spinal tap could all be used to get what you need, and you wouldn't need to kill any one for it.
Thank you for being the one to say that Joel was right in the ending. Holy shit! The Fireflies knocked Joel out while trying to save Ellie from drowning, they don’t allow him to at least say goodbye, they don’t allow Ellie to consent to the operation, and threatened to kill him so yeah I wouldn’t trust the fireflies either.
For the commies an individual only has utilitarian value to the group/state. So of course all the soyshillshits call Joel the badguy. He's fighting against killing a child incapable of giving consent.
they didnt even pay him. this was a job, and they didnt even do the decent thing of paying the man what he’s due. and people put them as saints? fck that, i would kill my way through to get her back vaccine or not if they didnt uphold their end of the bargain. if they cant be trusted to pay for a job, they sure as shit aint trust worthy enough to hold onto the vaccine to THE BIGGEST PROBLEM THE WORLD IS FACING. so fck em.
Yeah that's another reason why I thought Last of Us Part 2 was a complete turnaround: Why give a shit about the Fireflies reforming? Fuck 'em, they killed off potentially dozens of people who were immune to the pathogen/spore. Rather than study the actual effects/use what's left of the medical infrastructure to create cloned tissue to one day actually create a cure, they resort to killing off their only hope of human survival by well... hope. That's another reason why I find it so pathetic that a portion of the players would say 'sacrificing Ellie is the right thing to do, Joel is evil' while if given the choice in the real world they would immediately refuse. After all there's EVIDENCE (The audio logs) that clearly points out that the Fireflies doing that to Ellie is going to end up as a complete failure/resort to the same thing. No change at all. And Synth is spot on about the Woke Socialist (Communist?) bullshit that I haven't noticed about the actual first game in 2013. Really makes sense. I seriously hope Part 2 was just some 'what if?' vision or something to that degree because if it's going to be canon for the plot of the third game, Naughty Dogs as a developer are screwed.
Your explanation for Joel being right in what he did was an angle I didn't even think of. Those people are lunatics if they would even think of giving up their children. No. Way. In. Fuck.
It's funny because it's established in the game that the Fireflies have no clue what they're doing. Even at the point where they have Ellie, who might be humanities only hope, they decide on cutting the parasitic cordyceps out of Ellie's brain in the time it takes Joes to regain consciousness. I did okay at science in school, and I'm definitely not a qualified parasitologist or mycologist but it seems like a really stupid idea to me to kill the parasite you need to study by removing it from it's host: And that in this situation the hosts immunity to the parasites control is likely the most important aspect of figuring out how to make other hosts immune to the negative effects of the parasite, so killing the host seems really dumb as well.
I didn't play the second game, and i don't care enough to double check but I read in another comment that there is a note in game that confirms the surgeon has already failed multiple times to get anything useful from people with immunity. If true, that is hilarious but take it with a grain of salt.
@@tekrit3249I swear I remember this being a note somewhere in the first game as well in the finale level, but I only remember finding it on one play through.
The fact that they could've just ported the PS4 remaster (which can be played with backwards compatibility) to PC but instead makes an objectively inferior version of the original and you have to pay seventy fucking bucks tells you that the future of gaming is looking bleaker and bleaker. @@ab-gail Facts, the work that i have in mind for example is berserk, the whole world is uglier but has a beauty behind it, the characters and their development is amazing, so realistic and wholesome, even the most depressive moments has a meaning of struggling and keep going forwards to live, no matter what. A must read to be honest.
“ Joel was the good guy. Hands f*cking down! “ I’m not a TLOU fan, but I definitely agree with this statement and it’s about time somebody said it out loud.
Something I've always hated hearing from people are when they say "you probably thought this character was the good guy, he's not." As if moral ambiguity can't exist at all in writing and that every character is supposed to be clearly good or evil. That probably attributes to why the quality of writing has gone down in recent years.
Joel was acting out of selfishness though. He did what he did because he knew he couldn’t live without Ellie, caring about someone because of what they are to you is not love. He’s definitely not “the good guy”. He’s morally grey, completely neutral.
Yeah, he was as good as he could be in the world. A freakin Saint. He used to be on both sides, he definitely feels guilty about things he's done, even after losing his girlfriend (or best bud, whatever) but he avoids confrontation when he can (who wouldn't) you don't have any options to just, murder complete strangers for no reason, a lot of the fights in the game stem from him not being able to just leave people to die. Anyway, I'd consider Joel good, leaning on neutral. He's selfish, but he's also the only person he has left so I can't blame him, any time he opens himself up emotionally he loses that person, so he closes himself off to emotion as much as he can. It doesn't work. Yeah, he's a good guy, he's just a dick.
Your comment about the ending is also what makes TLOU2 so unbearable for me. Ellie is so childish to resent Joel for saving her and is like “I wanted my life to fucking matter” as if she didn’t matter to Joel.
I think she wanted her life to matter to much than just Joel. She wanted her death to at least be something that could potentially just change the entire work n not just die because some random shot her in the face or got eaten alive by a clicker.
I absolutely agree that style is much more valuable than achieving pure photorealism. Games like Persona 5 and Elden Ring have very low fidelity models, but have art styles that stand out and will be remembered for a long time. Games like The Last of Us Part 1 Remake will be outdated and will warrant yet another remake when the bar gets raised and the tech improves.
@@paulsantibanez525 Well, yeah. Last of Us on ps3 was aiming for photorealism. Point still stands. It became dated once the tech improved, which is why we're getting a photorealistic remake, and eventually when tech improves, that one will get remade. What I'm getting at is that the pursuit for photorealism never ends because it will just get dated by the next game aiming for the same thing. Games like Persona 5 aren't aiming for photorealism and they don't need constant remakes in order to stand out from the crowd.
@@FlareFoot57 no but games like persona are adding much more stylistic effects and rendering much bigger levels and visual fluidity that older consoles can not do , especially if you add ray tracing or higher frame rates . Here in Australia it’s 125 bucks. Yeah one hundred and twenty five dollary fuckin doos. You can get the ps3 version and in some cases the ps4 remaster for a TENTH of the price sometimes even less. Totally worth it thank you Jim. Arrogant Sony is back.
They seem to not have permanent price drops anymore. The Sackboy game is like 2 years old and still full price, but will often go on sale for half. Same with some other Sony 1st party games that have PS5 entries (they apply that rule to both PS4/PS5 versions).
I usually agree with wanting games to be good looking, but in apocalypse games (or movies), when the characters are supposed to be living hard lives they shouldn't be smoking hot with boob jobs and perfect skin. I think given the setting, the characters (original or remake) fit the game pretty well. But Horizon Forbidden West is the opposite. Why would there be so many fat people? They're ugly and don't fit the world.
Your rant on characters just getting uglier is so spot on and hilariously true. They just trying to please Twitter users and certain audiences. It's clearly visible in Netflix's shows as well. Also, some comparison video I saw had a comment that actually justified Tess looking uglier.
Yeah. Everything has been made uglier and I think literally nobody likes it at this point, even the leftists who asked for it in the first place. I think they're realising more and more that the world they have created is boring, ugly and sh!tty.
Why do video game characters need to be attractive to you lmao imagine crying about something that doesn’t even matter. These characters aren’t here so they can be attractive or fuckable in your eyes weirdo
No one's trying to 'please twitter users.' They used Tess's real life actress as the model in the new game (they've used real people as models for every game they've made since the PS4 era). The dude who made this video has little exposure to women outside of anime, so he thinks she's ugly...even though he's a pudgy manlet.

Damn near everyone he's come into contact with has tried to kill him. David... enough said. Exactly, I am single childless male too, but I still have strong protective feelings towards children. It is in our blood, hardwired in our DNA. One of the things proper males are designed to do.
Yes, the graphics do look amazing, but are they $70 amazing??? Fuck no. This is NAUGHTY DOG we're talking about, not Rockstar Games. Besides, no game out there is worth $70 as the *BASE PRICE* in the modern day industry. You want us to pay $70? Then develop $70 worth of game and have it be playable at launch and I'll consider it. Until then, YO HO YO HO IT'S A PIRATES LIFE FOR ME!
I totally agree. The gaming industry used to care about putting their best foot forward and taking a chance. There is very little art and inspiration in AAA games today. I also think it is crazy that an entire generation that grew up with Silent Hill, metal gear solid, syphon filter, twisted metal, etc… wont get more content with those games. Why not keep the games people love alive and also take a chance on something new? There has to be enough talent and money in the industry to keep things interesting, but it all seems to go to dumb remakes and cash grabs.
I genuinely believe that the sales figures from Part 2 have been doctored making them panic and do a rough 'remake' of the first game to make up for lost sales.
Last of us part 2 didn't even make it into the top 20 best selling ps4 store games while "the forest" a decade old indie game did. I'm very suspicious about their actual sales.
@@acehood9953 Up until this June the official number was 6 million but in June they updated it to 10 million, for reference the PS4 spiderman game sold 13 million copies. I just can't see that being true because there's tons of images of lou2 being discounted while spiderman was full price until very recently. To this day spiderman sells for 28$ on Amazon while lou2 sells for 21$. Something isn't adding up.
@@1810jeff It defo doesn't add up. This remaster, is low cost, easy, and isn't even on the same level in terms of animations as lou2. The 70£ price tag is ridiculous enough to arouse the suspicions of low sales for lou2 even without the questionable figures.
11:50 Not to mention that they cut an sudio collectible that indicates Fireflies are not 100% sure they can make a cure. I hope I didn't remember it wrongly.
Dude the level of honesty and just attention to detail in this channel is such a great time. I have no problem watching these videos to the end because I can't predict where you're going to go and there's always something new to learn. Even when you have to retread old territory I can relate to how tired you are of having to go over the same problems again and again. So much better than all the overproduced Here's My Sponsor Happy Slick Energetic content on RUclips. I actually feel like I'm getting something I haven't seen hundreds of times before.
"MARLENE: The doctors tell me the growth inside has somehow mutated. It's why she's immune. Once they remove it, they'll be able to reverse engineer a vaccine." That's literally the only thing that is explained to the player about ELLlE's immunity. It's just a bare-bones explanation, which doesn't even explain what medical procedure they performed to reach that conclusion. I mean, how the hell do they know it was the FUNGUS inside ELLlE that mutated if they haven't even taken a single sample of it? Well, they simply can't know, since they haven't yet extracted a sample from it, since SHE hasn't yet received any type of surgical intervention! MARLEN also tells you that the FUNGUS "is all over ELLlE's brain" which is hilarious, since that would mean the FUNGUS is basically a TUM0R that has spread all over ELLlE's brain. So, how the hell is SHE even alive then? Well, just because of more plot-armor & bad writing, l guess. XD
It's as if the Naughty Dog writers believed that viruses and bacteria are the same as fungi, which is not the case in the slightest, like the fact that fungi don't mutate.
The storytelling in these titles was pointless garbage. Everything happens... like just because, and they just expect you to roll with it like an idiot, dude.
About sacrifice, I completely agree. I remember watching the end, and nodding my head in agreement. I felt that's exactly what Joel should have done. Only later did I find out what he did made him a "bad guy".
This isn’t even a remake it’s legit just a remaster because it’s graphical. A remake is supposed to remake or reimagine the gameplay mechanics or story elements.
Not true, there are things that are labelled as 1 to 1 remakes which remake the game from the ground up to be exactly how it was but made for current gen since its impossible to do that with a remaster. People get confused because companies like Activision kept using Remasters as buzz words because the word remake came with negative connotations. So Crash, Spyro, Tony Hawk, Demons Souls, shadow of the collosus, nier replicant are all remakes. Remasters are just touched up ports of older games, which is why a lot of them get flak from people expecting remakes.
Nothing against you, but so many people don't understand what a remake/remaster is. Remaster: touched up, increased framerate/resolution, basically a polished up version Remake: completely redone from the ground up at least graphically. Doesn't necessarily need gameplay changes So TLOU is in fact a Remake since they remade it from the ground up. Demons Souls Remake is also a Remake even tho they didn't change the gameplay at all. It's still a very uneccesary one.
Absolutely insane that they charged the amount for a game that doesn't even need it.Great video and thanks for doing it because it let's people know what is going on with some games, and its not always good, peace ✌️
Gotta love how this is a re-remaster, like they remastered this one year after it came out; this tells you everything you need to know about naughty dog, and so many others
The original The Last Of Us was the final blow of a great studio in a way! The saddest thing about this game though is that instead of being a positive turning point, its release basically coincided with the downfall of the industry!
They obliterated my interest in the franchise with the events and characters of 2, so I have no interest in playing any version of the 1st game ever again. Not only that I'm going to be highly suspect of the next game Naughty Dog releases regardless of IP.
Gorilla arms Abby genuinely was such a fucking miserable character that I question why they even made her in the first place and why would they try to sympathize with the fireflies even though they had a huge underlying narrative of being evil bastards
@@fatcatscanroar Joel used to be a hunter, which is arguably worse. I don't think Joel's a bad guy, but using "they used to be evil bastards" as an excuse when pretty much nobody in the game is innocent whatsoever is a bit of an L.
Man, they altered the character so badly and then try to claim that it's an NexGen realism that makes them stand out when it looks like they put effort in them to either emphasize the oldness with Joel and Ellie doesn't even look like herself. She just looks older. it's like they went out of their way to deliberately alter the character modeled so that it stands out as something brand new but the environment and everything looks way similar as old games. That graphic lighting doesn't really stand out that much either. Tess lost her good looks. It's like they're deliberately doing that to females to make them either very normal, looking or not attractive for the male gaze because Tess was always known of the gaming community is being a hottie. The new one she lost a lot of her facial definition.
Honestly haven't even considered playing through this game again after finding out what happens in the sequel. TLOU 2 completely invalidates everything in the first game, spits on the fanbase and the fact that they charge this kind of price for a triple dip is flat out laughable.

You're right that most developers these days, don't incorporate alot of variety when it comes to enemies. Unlike today's games, Diablo 2 had a virtual library of distinct creatures/enemies that all had their own strengths and weaknesses.

Love the 'ShillUp' moniker, haven't heard that before. All the reviewers in his relative circle of influence are immensely insufferable. He has absolutely zero personality and only seems to 'follow the herd' in forming his opinion. If a reviewer/journalist never has a controversial take, what is the point in following/listening to them? I find reviewers important when a piece of media that's released is controversial or has a mixed reception, yet ShillUp never deviates from his terrible vanilla takes that never go against the grain or challenge status quo. As pointed out in this video his analogies make no sense, he's unbelievably shallow in any opinion shared, and he serves to do nothing but praise whatever is the 'hot topic' of the month. I've found your channel very refreshing as it's apparent you don't hold your legitimate feelings/opinions back and often challenge the shitty zeitgeist that has become modern gaming. Imagine thinking 70$ for this game is reasonable in any universe, it's appalling, revealing and disturbing that anyone would defend these business practices as an independent journalism source. It's reassuring to know that not every video game reviewer on YT is a mindless zombie who prioritizes views/likes over the integrity of their content. Great video and opinions, thanks for sharing 😁
I never finished TLOU on PS3, but one of the things I noticed is that it's the same realtime inventory management that is in ZombiU, better too in ZombiU because you have to take your eyes off the TV and look down at the gamepad, awesome survival horror mechanic. ZombiU released 7 months prior to TLOU.
part of what made the ending so good in this game is it's moral ambiguity. Joel was never depicted as the angel saint father of the world, he was a depressed middle aged man who found a surrogate daughter in ellie, as such and you could interpret joel's actions in a few ways, you could say he was doing for himself or really was doing it to just give ellie a chance at living a full life? were the fireflies truly altruistic in their motivations but perhaps too enthusiastic to see who they were hurting along the way or was it a desperate attempt to reach for what little power they could gain from having a cure from a faction just as corrupt as the government they oppose? if joel didn't kill mallorie would she come after Joel and Ellie, or let them go? it's a lot to think about. well it was until the sequel decided we needed to be told exactly how to think about that event
The ending to the first one wasn't morally ambiguous whatsoever. The only argument for moral ambiguity can be attributed to the scene where he lies to her and Joel as an actual character. The Fireflies unapologetically slighted Joel from the minute they got out of the sewer to the minute they tried to kick him out, they chose to take a girls life without her informed consent after robbing them of their goodbye and alleviating any potential discourse that may have ended up with him walking away amicably anyway. They mocked, assaulted and spat in his face as they proceeded to take a little girls life so I repeat.. there's nothing morally ambiguous about the steps Joel took to ensure her safety. He was one hundred percent in the right despite being a morally ambiguous character. Not that what I'm saying is gospel or anything, that's just how I see it. God Bless Bro & F Naughty Dog!
@@hihihi1q23 You may have played the sequel but you're too dumb to understand that it retcons the entire first game to implicitly state that Joel was in the wrong. The game literally hammers you over the head with it, and everyone but you picked that up apparently. That's why Joel never once tries to defend his position when he's being accosted by Ellie or anyone else. Even in the opening monologue the writers refuse to let him articulate the actual facts of the the first games narrative and that's persistent throughout the entire thing.
As someone who thinks graphics in a game are important, I'm sick and tired of the realism in games, like yeah I'm not going to lie, it does look nice at times, but doing it over and over again it's just so boring to me now, I just mostly prefer games with stylized graphics like anime now.
Realistic graphics are uninspired. It’s different if you mix a bunch of other genres (sci-fi, fantasy, etc) so there’s _something else_ to it but carte blanche just remaking Earth is boring. There’s some zombies but it’s not enough to make it interesting. It’s still 99% the real world, and I can already look/go outside if I want that. That’s not even to say you can’t mix some realism into it. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a cartoony game but has realistic details that blends nicely together. But there’s still some art style/art direction rather than just “make it look like real-life”. If you’re looking for gritty, there’s multiple ways of doing that then just photo-realistic visuals.
For me gameplay reigns supreme above all else. For instance, Rimworld is one of my favorite games ever, and it has incredibly simplistic 2D cartoon graphics. And yet they're easy on the eyes and I can play for 12 hours straight, as I have done many times already. And yes, it has A LOT of anime mods in case you're wondering.
I liked god of war, sure Kratos might've lost a lot of the "chad energy" he had but he's trying his hardest to not turn his son into the monster he was
@@nigeltheoutlaw Huh. Well i guess it depends who you're tuned into but I followed the discourse of that game since it's inception and the opinions about the ending were all over the place. Like hell if you watch EFAP, Rags has a video years before the 2nd game vame out,, not about about the Last of Us, but the person he's responding to for a second brings it up and Rags quickly says he thinks Joel is a selfish asshole for what he did at the end of the 1st game. And as a fan of Rags I thought that was a really crazy take for him to have but...ehh oh well. Lot of people I know have felt negitavely abou the ending for the last decade.
@@blairalexander3009 Well I guess I must have not heard about it. Rags is a buffoon like the rest of EFAP so that's not actually that surprising. Still, I never heard about it until 2 so I maintain that it was in response to Cukman retconning the first to pretend Joel was the bad guy rather than the obvious hero.
The remake just looks ugly. All the colors are washed out, everyone is almost uncomfortably more detailed. Everything is darker for no reason. Whats even the point of the remake? Millions pf dollars and time in development wasted on superficial changes to a game that’s already good and playable.
To be fair it's pretty subtle about how the Fireflies can't be trusted throughout the entirety of the now only good game in the series. I mean, about as subtle as the "Racism is bad" subtlety of To Kill a Mockingbird.

Most important aspect to VideoGAMES should always be GAMEplay. Graphics are nice, good story is appreciated but if your GAME is boring or repetitive than what's the point?
Cool but this is the same game from 2013 with better everything but not different. It’s going to play like a 2013 game because it’s designed to be one.
17:53 More people need to talk about stuff like this. Butchering deliberate art-styles that tell a story and serve a purpose to repaint it as the most milquetoast demographic-pleasing set-piece... In addition to COMPLETELY changing the music of the game. They literally just copied the format for Bloodborne and the later Dark Souls games, with booming orchestras and epic action... When Demon Souls music consisted of somber tones, loneliness, and exhibited feelings other than "omg big boss so epic fight!!" Dark Souls is more popular, so they made it Dark Demon Souls, because they wanted to capitalize off the Dark Souls fans, not Demon Souls fans, they wanted to sell something new, yet painfully familiar. Something novel, yet the same. Similar remastering story happened with Shadow of Colossus. Thanks for having a playlist of your recorded streams by the way. I am interested in the other critiques you have of it, I'm glad those are saved. I would recommend pointing to it either in your video descriptions or somewhere though, it's a bit out of the way and those not entirely familiar with how RUclips works might not know the practice of keeping unlisted videos within your playlists.
Glad to hear God of War 2018 slander. That game was such a letdown as a fan of the games all throughout their ps2, psp and ps3 lifespan. Kratos isn't even the same character anymore, the game doesn't even play the same anymore, the tone and storytelling isn't the same anymore. It's a completely different ip riding the coattails of that sweet brand recognition and people eat it up because fake deep story. They should have let Kratos die up on Olympus with the respect he earned and had the balls to start a new series completely.
Make no mistake; Neil Druckmann is fully on-board with the 'woke' cult. I haven't given his company a dime since the initial release of The Last of Us.
I do want to make it clear, since I didn't really cover the game in-depth in this video, that I still think The Last of Us is a great game. Overrated? Yes. But at the time it pushed boundaries for what storytelling in video games was capable of. I'll flesh out a few of my points in this comment if you're interested in reading my extended thoughts:
1) Combat is intense, guns feel powerful, and it's very easy to make a mistake and die.
Great channel, I like you.
good take, tbh your doom eternal review isnt that great but not everyone can like everything and thats fine and tbh i appreciate that you dont shill and if you dont like something your willing to admit to it even if its unpopular
I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of graphics idiots buy the game up, that's the reason why we got 3 versions of gta 5 and 0 versions of gta 6

For the commies an individual only has utilitarian value to the group/state. So of course all the soyshillshits call Joel the badguy. He's fighting against killing a child incapable of giving consent.
they didnt even pay him. this was a job, and they didnt even do the decent thing of paying the man what he’s due. and people put them as saints? fck that, i would kill my way through to get her back vaccine or not if they didnt uphold their end of the bargain. if they cant be trusted to pay for a job, they sure as shit aint trust worthy enough to hold onto the vaccine to THE BIGGEST PROBLEM THE WORLD IS FACING. so fck em.
Just like the real governments of the entire world.
Worst of all: Joel never even got his guns that he was promised from the very beginning which was the whole point 🤦

Thank you for saying my thoughts out loud.
The concept of 'realism' has been corrupted into gaslighting people to accept stuff being made ugly on purpose for subversive ideological reasons.
I think its fine, but I think it depends on the story told, I reckon ugly works for certain things to evoke a certain emotion.
@@jomarmandingiado9244 I think even the “uglier” works should have some beauty to it as not to be a hinderance to enjoyment of the game (or movie, or show, etc.). After a while, something made bad on purpose can just get just as annoying as a game that’s just bad. After while you’ll want to stop playing (or watching) it whether it fits the theme or not.
@@ab-gail it depends. Enemies being ugly can do well to invoke dread, fear, anxiety. Things a good game wants. Here? The ugliness is everywhere, what am I supposed to dread Tess?
@@ab-gail Facts, the work that i have in mind for example is berserk, the whole world is uglier but has a beauty behind it, the characters and their development is amazing, so realistic and wholesome, even the most depressive moments has a meaning of struggling and keep going forwards to live, no matter what.
A must read to be honest.
Honestly, I like the remaster better than the remake because it looked a little stylised and almost hand-painted and I loved it.
He was better than all the people you faced in game, that's why that logic makes no damn since.
Joel was acting out of selfishness though. He did what he did because he knew he couldn’t live without Ellie, caring about someone because of what they are to you is not love. He’s definitely not “the good guy”. He’s morally grey, completely neutral.
TLOU is all about "there's no good guys"
Ellie is a commie darling.
I think she wanted her life to matter to much than just Joel. She wanted her death to at least be something that could potentially just change the entire work n not just die because some random shot her in the face or got eaten alive by a clicker.
I think what she mean't, is that she didn't want to die by something "dumb" like clickers or looters but her death meaning something
Undertale looks like it was made in the 80s, and it looks better than this remaster that was made a month ago.

@@FlareFoot57 no but games like persona are adding much more stylistic effects and rendering much bigger levels and visual fluidity that older consoles can not do , especially if you add ray tracing or higher frame rates . In gaming its been going since 2010 and in comics since 2000, but the sad truth is that many who are today "anti woke" back in those days suported it. With Lara Croft the first character and fandom to be attacked and changed (the reboots), shortly followd by the ladies of Mortal Kombat & Jill Valentine. At that time they also tried to get to Tifa, but since FF isnt western they couldnt get to ot, although they did manage to tweaker more and more.
Those changes all were blue prints for what would come down the line later. In the early days it was all about their "cup sizes", and since gaming & comics werent mainstream back than; they were easy targets. The devs (who made all these franchises great) who tried to fight this have been pushed out/bullied out between 2010 & 2015. I know quite a lot of people who regret it now they went along with it, but many back than were like "as long as it doesnt happen to my beloved franchise its ok" or "its just a one time small change". And of course when their franchise got hit, they were to late.

Which obviously means that different strains of the same fungi do not exist or could ever exist.

Remaster: touched up, increased framerate/resolution, basically a polished up version
Remake: completely redone from the ground up at least graphically. Doesn't necessarily need gameplay changes
So TLOU is in fact a Remake since they remade it from the ground up. Demons Souls Remake is also a Remake even tho they didn't change the gameplay at all.
It's still a very uneccesary one.

She just looks older. it's like they went out of their way to deliberately alter the character modeled so that it stands out as something brand new but the environment and everything looks way similar as old games. That graphic lighting doesn't really stand out that much either. Tess lost her good looks.
Love hearing your take on this! One of the few I turn to for reviews and info in the entertainment space.
I can tell you never played the sequel. Because the sequel pretty explicitly doesn't take sides when it comes to Joel's actions.
And yes, it has A LOT of anime mods in case you're wondering.
thats why we need to give our love to indie developers they are the ones that still have a soul and passion
I liked god of war, sure Kratos might've lost a lot of the "chad energy" he had but he's trying his hardest to not turn his son into the monster he was
