Mister Cee produced Notorious B.I.G.'s first album. Mister Cee, of Hot 97, is currently hot in New York City. (April 2011)
di man a bun fire pan sponge bob lol Buju a icon still... Top 5 entertainer fi Jamaica not just dancehall genre ... Buju, Marley,Beenie U can add the other but those 3 are locks
I think its funny how people speaking out about their gayness or advocating homosexuality in any way, shape, or form are ridiculing someone for being against it. how is it one person has more relevance or strength with their words as opposed to the other view? Buju is as much anti gay as gay advocates are pro gay. this is a battle that will never end, as long as there are two ends of the spectrum you will have disagreement. just freakin live with it.
Really no need to be negative. Reggae music is not about hate. Buju is where Jah wants him to be in his career. you just want to spread hate. He did a song. but he doesnt advocate death and violence please listen to his words instead of speaking out of your butt. we know the lifestyle is wrong but you have no heaven or hell to put anyone in so just keep the hate to yourself!
". . . and also give a quick speech to his fans that will be talked about for some time!" The routine that Mark Myrie, known as "Buju Banton," performs here is an anti LGBT routine that he started performing at least as early as 2006. It is actually a modified version of his song "How Massa God World A Run." Though he claimed that he stopped performing "Boom Bye Bye," he never stopped preaching and ranting and raving about LGBT people. He never "moved on," as he claimed he did.
jtubebx1 he actually did. Like you he has a preferred sexual orientation that he is obviously not ashamed of and is proud to declare. He has said in retrospect he wishes no violence or death to any one affiliated with that community he states god is the judge of all men and he does not have the right as rastafari to preach violence. What he continues to do however is declare “straight pride”. Not every man take pleasure in another man’s derrière come on now ...where is that love ❤️ and we “just want to co-exist with straight people “Anthem that gays initially came out 🎤 singing ???? I would ask you to give the man a break but I know you can’t ....so what I’ll say to you is to move past that and understand we don’t all agree or see eye to eye on our beliefs and or ideologies. He is one man who expresses the view of millions as you are one man or woman? Who expresses the views of many. Shalom
@jtubebx1 umm i guess i should have also noted that not only am i a born and grown jamaican, but i also started my sound career (makka tree sound bx/bk) right around when this song was prevalent in the music scene. i have also come to know and work with quite a few gay men and women during my life since then. to date i have never killed a battybwoy or turned gay. what i am trying to say is whether buju says kill batty man or the gays say embrace gayness i am responsible for my choice not buju
Mark Myrie, aka "Buju Banton," is still controversial and the song "Boom Bye Bye" is still controversial, because he has never been able to distance himself from the song, which calls for gays to be killed. Over all these 22+ years since he wrote "Boom Bye Bye," he has either sung the song, or after he stopped singing "Boom Bye Bye," in 2004, he started doing the anti gay routine shown in this video. All the evidence shows that he is still as homophobic now as he was in 1988.
jtubebx1 why you feel that buju should move on, is it because you are waiting on an apology from Buju. Well that will never come. We don't bent nor bow.
@jtubebx1 he says "even if i never sing another song like boom boom bye, that one hurt them so much (referring to homosexuals) that i could never redo it. Its going to last a million years

@DA1UNV37 "That man is 36 and he was around 17 when he made the song!" He's 37 now (2010). He wrote and first performed "Boom Bye Bye" in 1988, 22+ years ago. The song was released in the U.S. in 1992. It was immediately controversial. After being dropped from the WOMAD tour in 1992, Buju apologized. Then he immediately retracted his apology. He continued singing "Boom Bye Bye" until 2004. This video shows a new anti gay routine Buju started performing after signing an RCA form.
Gay people hurt or killed by buju : 0 Children hurt or killed by wasting time doing things like fighting for gay rights : upto an average of 20,000 per day.
@i3ant0n ". . . you state Buju was ARRESTED and not Buju was CONFIRMED TO HAVE COMMITED THE AASSAULT . . . " Buju was arrested for the crime, but he was not convicted. On the other hand, he was not acquitted either. Did you read "The Most Homophobic Place on Earth?" Read the remarks of "Brian,"one the victims. What do you think? These men were very courageous to have reported the crime to very homophobic Jamaican police and to have given them Mark Myrie's name as one of the assailants.
Why do all Dancehall productions after the 90s sound like trash? Idk but I produced some wicked golden era Dancehall riddims lately. Come listen dem in my chan.
@gtsound12 The important thing is that Buju wants to claim that he has "moved on." This performance, but also many other actions and statements, show that he has not. Even though he stopped performing "Boom Bye Bye" in 2004, under pressure from Amnesty International and other groups, he sings a line from the song, hums the song, or has the audience sing it, so he can say he doesn't perform it anymore. Buju has not "moved on" and is as homophobic as he ever was.
Three things : I am quite sure you state Buju was ARRESTED and not Buju was CONFIRMED TO HAVE COMMITED THE AASSAULT. Thousands of people are arrested every day, innocently. Secondly, you completely ignored my other remark. Thirdly, BOOM BYE BYE was a SONG with WORDS, POWER and SOUND. Bet there is absoflippinlutely ZERO focus on the second point.
@RedLoveLife "Being gay is not wrong, and speaking out against gay is not wrong." But what about promoting hatred against LGBT people, advocating violence against LGBT people and calling for the murder and lynching of LGBT people?
“I recognize that the song has caused much pain to listeners, as well as to my fans, my family and myself. Hey DJNessNYC, do you have some more footage of this show?
The lyrics in Boom Bye Bye speak clearly of shooting homosexuals in the head. If thats not condoning or advocating violence I dont know what is.
what does Buju chant after he talks about SS Marriage??

He came out and said his music all about love right now.
I think that counts and might be the only thing that counts
neither did LGBT people since they are fighting him for a song he recording when he was 19...
i love most of buju's music, but he's gotta cool it down some with the homophobia.
no matter your opinion you cant argue with that bass line
