Crank shaft just went out on my lmm I’m no mechanic, if you can give me any suggestions on what to buy I would greatly appreciate it should I go with a long block or short block and from what website or should I just pay for a rebuild ? I don’t want nothing to pricey Nothing to pricey as for I wasn’t expecting my crank shaft to brake especially around the holidays but I also want quality :/ thanks brother
The main thing they missed is that the lmm have a much better head gadget, they have the rivet style. The lbz have a crimp style head gadget and isn’t as good. There are a few lbz that got the rivet style gaskets but very rare, late 07 just before the switch to new body style.

That would most likely need a manual regen which can be done by a dealer or technician with the proper scanner.

i have a 2008 chevy 3500 lbz duramax and the computer went out so i bought a new one and the key and the computer are not connecting at all i tried to program them together but it’s not linking , anyone know the problem ?
They did not make a LBZ in 08. Look at your VIN, if the 8 digit isn't a D it's not LBZ. You have a LMM if it's a 08. That's probably why you can't get it to work.
ive got an 06 lbz. I got on it a little hard then it puffed some oil smoke . went to restart it 10 minutes later and it started then stalled. Is there an O ring that tends to go bad that could cause me to have no oil pressure?

Sounds like it could of been your stock race plug. Replace it with a ppe one
Will LMM nozzles fit and work on a LBZ injector? I found a great deal on some 100% LMM nozzles if they will work on LBZ.

Yes, you can switch while driving.
What's better for making a daily driver but weekend drag truck a lbz or lml
Zack Fink personally would say lbz for performance and lml for body style of truck but the lml is still a damn good motor
But remember that the LBZ has week pistons and a crappy piston pin.I would not go more then 600 hp with it.

No, definitely not on a stock strans. May be able to get 420 wheel HP out of a stock trans for a short period of time but not long depending on your right foot! A transgo jr can help extend the life a little
so can getting the tranny built with a new 6th gear stronger one that is, the weakness in the 6 speed tranny is the five overdrive in witch is the 6 speed in the end. I own the 06 and have checked into all of it i'll leave it stock for now.
Justin Dowell I put a ppe hot in my lbz I did get a lot of fun outta it for about 4 sets of tires killing mustang gts, but then 5th gear started slipping, I am not bullshitting I ran high 12s with just the tune and no air filter. After 5th gear started slipping I took the tranny pan off, cleaned it out real good, put it back together, drove another 5000 km done the same thing truck was back to new driving, I know I took life off the tranny, I sold her about a year ago and disclosed everything to the new owner.
I dynoed at 480/940 with an old edge race tuner on a stock clutches and a transgo jr. slipped the stock converter, replaced it with a triple disk precision converter and kept on then kept on going. I recently added water/meth setup and shes still holding. haven't dynoed with it but I'm sure I'm over 500hp on stock clutches.
Justin Dowell Ran my lbz for 3 year at 530hp on stock trans and it’s still holding up. Keep it out of overdrive and it will last a long time
I have an 08 lmm duramax, dually long flat bed, gooseneck, pulling 5th wheel camper 15k pounds, I bought the truck with 200k miles, put about 20k on it in 2 years, having all sorts of problems now, but I have narrowed it down to needing to pull the injectors and have them serviced , and pull the cpm pump possibley and put in a rebuilt cpm pump, on this video you talk about the dpf system and how it might could wash out the piston rings with blowby, jeez, and dilute the motor oil in the crank case,.....jeez, how do I check that, do I have the oil in the crank case checked like viscosity or something like that ., ....jeez, I like this truck because it is a western hauler bed, and perfect for us to go camping, but it has stranded us several times, when i have tried to maintain like 60mph on up hill grades over time, then it has powered down, like I said i have found the problem with that, I had a shop guy get in with his computer while I towed the fifth wheel , and after about the usual 30 minutes of heaving towing, his codes found the problem, I have an air dog, etc, everything else is good, just how do i find out if my oil is getting contaminated, thanks

Are duramax lly cylinder heads the same?
No the heads are a but different. And lbz has slightly weaker pistons as well. But at least lbz domt have headgasket problems normally
I have a 2008 . 3500series . LMM. There’s no DEF on it. Never was. Why is that? Anyone?
Emissions have rolled out in tiers over the years. The 2004.5 model Duramax (LLY) started off with just an EGR. Then in 2007.5 - 2010 the LMM came out with a DPF and EGR. In 2011 the final Tier 4 was released with the LML, which includes DEF, DPF, & EGR. It actually includes even more acronyms but this sums it up pretty well.

I just paid 13,500 for an 05 GMC 2500. Has 180k on it. Books for over 20k. I'd say you got a good deal if the truck isn't beat.

2003 GMC 3500 dually with 250k, one owner just him and his old lady pretty much new. Turned 86 years old and let it go for 3grand 👍

No
Austyn Arias yes it would same ECM same pin layout and what not. It would need a flash to run when interchanging.

Jairo radilla I've got an lmm and it's got 170k miles. origional everything. duel oil filtration is only aftermarket piece. don't run fuel low. use additives and listen to the fuel filter. when it wants a new one change it. shitty fuel is your worst enemy next to air in fuel nut that goes for all diesel engines. your lmm just fine

Wasn't the LBZ rated at 360hp 650lb/ft and the LMM 365hp and 660b/ft?
You said the power is the same between the two. Is that GM just playing the numbers game with ratings or am I wrong?
+Asamccp We're not sure what GM was thinking or doing with the numbers. From our perspective, a 5 hp and 10b/ft difference may be easily corrected in the calibration and generally speaking, it really is the same power level between the two years. Generally speaking.
In the video they said the LMM had a pretty solid upgrade of 5hp haha
