I don't like to say anything is impossible in writing --- I do think most things can work if executed effectively. But I do think one would struggle to write a mystery story without any clues, otherwise the detective would have very little to inform their conclusions. I don't have a problem with rules being bent or broken, but generally one should have good reason to do so. Knox's commandments seem quite sensible and are mostly about not 'cheating' the reader by withholding information, so I don't know what anyone would achieve by breaking them.
