  • God has made a way for us to mature, transitioning from being led by our emotions and feelings to being led by the Holy Spirit. As children of God, we are called to hear and obey His Word, allowing the Spirit to guide our thoughts and actions. The battle between our sinful nature and the Spirit is real, but when we choose to be led by the Spirit, we experience life and peace. Our minds must be constantly renewed by the Word of God, shaping our lives to reflect Christ. The Holy Spirit empowers us to overcome the desires of our old nature and to produce the fruit of the Spirit-love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. As we walk in faith, choosing to be led by the Spirit, we become more like Jesus, standing firm on the solid rock of His teachings and making a difference in the world around us.

And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day… (Genesis 3:8 NKJV)
For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son. (Colossians 1:13 NLT)
God’s made the way for us to mature- that we go from being led by emotions and feelings to being led by Holy Spirit.
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons and daughters of God. (Romans 8:14 NASB20)
Hearing and obeying God’s Word = being led by the Spirit.
    Being Led by Holy Spirit
Our lives must be shaped by the Word of God; therefore, we must constantly renew our minds.
Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. (Romans 8: 5-6 NLT)
So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses. When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:16-23 NLT)
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. (Philippians 2:13 NLT)
Our lives must be protected by the body of Christ.
Our goal is to be like Jesus.
“… because as He is, so are we in this world.” (1 John 4:17 NKJV)
    Being led requires faith.
We choose whether to be led by Holy Spirit or by our old nature.
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” (Matthew 7:24-27 NLT)
