    Nice! I just bought a 2008 Z520 dual console with a 2016 Suzuki 250SS with just under 250 hours. It has a 4 blade Suzuki 14.5" x 27 pitch prop on it that could use some repairs. 2 people and full gas and livewell it is slow to get on plane, but runs 65 mph and 6000 RPMs. Then I added my 12' Minn Kota Talons and I expected I would have to reprop it. 3 people in the boat and 80 degree water made it a struggle to get on plane. Going up river and it won't get on plane unless someone went up on the bow. Saw that Tom Monsoon is running a 26P Scorpion with Power Poles on his Ranger 520. I just ordered a Scorpion 25P so waiting to get that. I have a 25P Trophy Plus that I hope to try this week. But loving the Suzuki 250SS so far too!

    In 2021 Put one on my 2007 201XL Stratos...replaced the Evinrude 225 HO etec...Suzuki has been a great motor ....has improved the boats performance...took a year to get it from the factory

    Repowered my 95 Skeeter 300ZX with a Suzuki 250SS, 100 hrs, on it now and with a Solas 27P Scorpion it's 70+. Twice the mileage and no oil. No regrets.

    I don't know about other brands and other hp ranges, but specifically my Suzuki DF40 from 2007 absolutely HATED the Solas prop I bought for it. It was the exact same spec - blade count, diameter and pitch as the Suzuki stock prop I got with the outboard. However, with the stock prop I could get 8 passengers up on plane with all their belongings while Solas struggled with half of that and it had horrible fuel economy. The engine was happy with a solas prop only when I was alone in that boat, and since I ran a boat rental and touring business- that was almost never the case.
    I have my suspicions as to why Solas prop was so bad, but either way- I never used a Solas prop again, I ate the cost and just stuck with the stock prop, the Solas prop was kept as the absolute worst case scenario backup. These engines are designed with in-house props in mind, not third party. If I were you, I'd give Suzuki props a chance

    • @billy_kohlsfishing
      @billy_kohlsfishing  2 года назад +1

      Hey! I'll keep that in mind. I grabbed the Solas based on every pro running it on tour and two boat shops saying that was the way to go. I'm always down for tinkering with it. Thanks for watching.

      Let me tell you a secret, but promise me,that you wont tell anybody 😂😂 Your factory prop is made by Solas. 😂😂

    I run the Solas Scorpion with my Suzuki. While it is the fastest prop, I find it make my boat ride no so great. To much bow lift. I highly recommend the Solas Lexor 4 blade. (L4 Pro) So much smoother and still pretty fast.

    • @billy_kohlsfishing
      @billy_kohlsfishing  Год назад

      Thanks Waylon, any idea how much speed you lost?

      @@billy_kohlsfishing I’m running the DF150A (not SS). 18’8 Nitro. The I get 57-58 (6000rpm)moderately loaded with a 26p Scorpion, 52-53(5850rpm) heavily loaded down. However, running a 24p Lexor 4 I get 55-56(6100rpm) 53-54(5900rpm) heavy. So it actually performs better than the Scorp with a heavy load. But my gosh, the ride is so so much better. It’s is much smoother in rough chop. Turns better. Better hole shot. The L4 is a Bravo type prop, but with a longer barrel. Everyone who has rode in my boat immediately notices the difference. It’s my main prop now, scorpion is my backup.

    I got a 2009 ranger z522 and a 2009 mercury 250 and it runs decent.. But I've been thinking about getting the new suzuki 250ss in that matte color. I've done a lil research and seems Suzuki would fit my needs. Almost makes me wanna pop mine to get a suzuki quicker lol

    Nice buy! Gonna prob put one on my 520C. Waiting on the new 2023 model to hit. Solas or Bravo 1 4 blade is the only other prop I'd try. Are you getting 6000rpm at WOT with the 27p?

      @billy_kohlsfishing  2 года назад

      Hey Scott, would have loved to have waited for the new one but needed a motor to get on the guide stuff asap. I am going to try the bravo 4 for sure. I’m getting 5900-6100 on the 27. I hit 68.2 so thinking in the winter I’ll be 70 no problem. I run a 8” jack plate as well.

      @@billy_kohlsfishing Excellent! I mean the Z20 or 520C for that matter are not known to be speed demons. I'd be most happy to have a solid 70nph boat. I'm pretty sure the Watergrip props are rebranded Solas Scorpions.
      Please report back on the Bravo 1 !

    Excellent choice. It's depressing seeing all these Evinrude and Mercury 2 strokes being the most common options of used boats from the 00s and 10's decades. Those owners made a terrible choice, had they put a Yamaha on them the resale value would have been way more. It's great to see Suzuki being another awesome choice. Check out Team Marine Service youtube channel, the guy that runs it knows exactly how to dial in these Suzuki's on bass boats.
