    About Ven. Ajahn Amaro:
Born in England in 1956, Ven. Amaro Bhikkhu received a BSc. in Psychology and Physiology from the University of London. Spiritual searching led him to Thailand, where he went to Wat Pah Nanachat, a Forest Tradition monastery established for Western disciples of Thai meditation master Ajahn Chah, who ordained him as a bhikkhu in 1979. Soon afterwards he returned to England and joined Ajahn Sumedho at the newly established Chithurst Monastery. He resided for many years at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery, making trips to California every year during the 1990s.
In June 1996 he established Abhayagiri Monastery in Redwood Valley, California, where he was co-Abbot with Ajahn Pasanno until 2010. He then returned to Amaravati to become Abbot of this large monastic community.
Ajahn Amaro has written a number of books, including an account of an 830-mile trek from Chithurst to Harnham Vihara called 'Tudong: The Long Road North,' republished in the expanded book 'Silent Rain.' His other publications include 'Small Boat, Great Mountain' (2003), 'Rain on the Nile' (2009) and 'The Island: An Anthology of the Buddha's Teachings on Nibbana' (2009) co-written with Ajahn Pasanno, a guide to meditation called 'Finding the Missing Peace' and other works dealing with various aspects of Buddhism.

I had not seen this talk before though I’ve heard some of the stories in other talks. I never grow tired of hearing Ajahn Amaro’s personal stories which I like best. One thing remains true for every story and all his talks, I learn or recall something new each time I listen. Then for a few days I’m a little bit better a person. So I try to listen to Dhamma talks by AJAHNS Amaro, Sumedho, Passano, Sucitto and others.
I also enjoy the readings of Ajahn Chah’s talks by Ajahn Amaro and others.
May they all live long and continue to point us on our way to Nibbana for as long as they decide. May we all listen closely so long as they do.
With Lovingkindness to the Arya Sangha and the Lay Sangha all,
    JTI

18:40 secs, its the feeling of comradery, agreeable humor, and rally around the flag, the disconnection between seemingly disparate strangers, in this world is prevalent...people never get to feel the group love that some monks feel when pratciing as a true team, or the team that comes along with military people in truly having the willingness to give ones life for another... that level of connectivity is something that the people as a whole crave regardless of the race...

reminds me of the Smiths song
    Cause there's always someone, somewhere
With a big nose, who knows
And who trips you up and laughs
    When you fall

Ive seen it too many times, the indentification with the world as defined by the current socio - economic situation, places such a coming together in its own ergo cognito sum, and often involves high levels of ignorance, as the people go unconscious during said rallying around the flag with each other, it will change in the future, just time is all.

Amaro is egotistic and enjoys the ease of the lecture circuit, the adulation. Not about dhamma but power.
