This is a very informative video and it's a shame you're not doing more of these. Orbx Shoreham is looking pretty good too, think I'll pick it up on sale now and fly the brilliant Da42 out of here.
In fact, I’m in production on the next video, which will be Exeter Airport, I’ve just been horrendously busy these last few months, I’ve gone from being fulltime employed, to fulltime self employed which has been a big thing. I hope soon to get the next PPL Training video out there, then resume production on the Exeter video, thanks for your interest!
Great video! Your narration voice sounds very different, it's even nicer to listen to :P P.S. Since the vid is divided into parts, I'd suggest adding chapters, for ease of navigation.
Great and informative video, I would imagine a lot of hard work going into these productions, my local airfield is White Waltham just up the road from me, would appreciate a review on that airfield at some time, many thanks.
Great video, Peter. Very well made and well structured! A couple of questions to all: 1) How would ATC differentiate between the paved and grass runways with the same designations 02/20? Since they're not labelled L/R as would be normal at larger airports. Or is it purely down to the pilot's discretion which they land on, being otherwise treated as one runway for traffic/holding? 2) With the tower having two frequencies, are both available at all times or is one a backup? I often see Little Navmap listing multiple frequencies but all sims only seem to have one available (no surprise). 3) The train line mentioned at 4:34. What should aircraft do regarding 'being aware' of it? The prop/jet blast might rock a passing train, but is a pilot expected to look out for oncoming trains to avoid such a situation? Genuinely curious if any guidance is given! :) (One small tip for the next one: watch out for typos on "circuit" and "elevation"!)
Hi Martyn, thanks for the questions! They are excellent questions. During my research I couldn't find any info on your first question. I imagine the tower might call 'cleared landing on 02 grass' - perhaps as simple as that, please if any real world pilots have something to say please chip in here. Your second question, I always assumed one would be a backup frequency, or for very busy days, not sure. Question 3, I think the tower would hold you from takeoff as from the towers vantage point they can most likely see a passing train, where as you have your back to it. I put that in the script as i remember seeing on a chart that it was listed as something to take note of. And yes, the typos, will look out for those in future, thanks!
@@PeterMatthess Thanks Peter. They seem like simple questions but this is clearly where experience has to come into play! We're all on a learning journey so maybe some of these queries will be answered along the way :)
@@PeterMatthess I know from a rail signalling simulator that I am involved with that the tower at Shoreham has a direct telephone link to the signalbox at Lancing (which controls the railway line through Shoreham) for use if there are any aircraft emergencys. The tower also has to test this phone line on a daily basis Paul

I ran my flying school at Shoreham. That was where I met my wife. Subscribed.
The next Airport video in the series I've decided will be Alderney Airport EGJA along with an overview of the island itself
Excellent video!! 🎉
A very good and informative video. Staying in the south east, I would like to see you cover Headcorn Aerodrome EGKH
Very well put together. Look forward to the next one
Fantastic video, explaining airports in detail seems to me one of the best ideas I've seen.
What a great idea for a series. Thank you!

Yes I will do in the next hour or so, currently cleaning windows outside at the moment :P
done
cool, looking forward to more of this series

@@paulcurran2977 thanks so much for this detail Paul! Really interesting to have this confirmed from another source, thankyou
@@PeterMatthess No problem Peter
do you know when it stopped being an international airport? That's what it was when current terminal building was built in 1936
excellent 😀
