Loved your take on Ghirri....I was lucky enough to meet him for a short lunch back in 1990...I was in Italy for my brother' s wedding....and just called Ghirri out of the blue.....we met in a cafe , and I showed him a few images....and we talked about Photography....and then he gifted me with 2 of his books!!!!In return I promised to show the books to a couple of galleries in San Francisco CA.......alas, no one was open to representing him back then( in S.F.)....I remember he told me his artistic hero was Bob Dylan, and when I heard of Ghirri's death 2 years later, I couldn' t believe what the World had lost.
Embarrassingly being a photographer of many years I am very new to Ghirri and his work so I am absorbing information about him daily and this video has helped a great deal, thank you
As someone who has followed you more for your video quality rather than for MTG content, this new project is really exciting to me! The quality of your videos inspires me to push my own editing to a new level of polish.
Thanks for teaching us about Luigi Ghirri. Your videos and the way you help me learn about art and artists always make me feel enriched and more in love with the world and with art.
...this is what my professor was trying to teach me in art appreciation, wasn’t it? Damn, why’d I have to overthink his lectures to the point where they’d become distorted? Thanks Sam, you should make more of these. I’d like to understand art better and you’ve managed to teach me. Please, teach me more.
Absolutely lovely video, Sam. I have a degree in Math and art has never been a focal point in life for me but your videos are such a beautiful way to bring it into view to someone like me. I learn so much from your videos, thank you so much.
I loved the video, it was really rich in details and descriptive of his work. If I have to nag, though, I thought the lack of background music drove me off, especially around the middle of the video.
Hey man great video, very informative and nice Italian pronunciations, you even quoted Pirandello and Fellini! Are you from Italy or just studied some of our culture? Anyway I know it's a cliché quoting him at this point but these pictures reminded me very much of the atmosphere in some of Miyazaki's movies, I guess Italy really did have an impact on him. Thanks for introducing me to such a great photographer!
All very nice. But the image at the minute 1:20 is not of the master Luigi Ghirri. It is a still image taken from a short film by Adrian Paci Look here: www.nocsensei.com/letture/admin4914/storia-di-una-didascalia-sfortunata/
@@smartkaboose3806 Yeah I was mostly joking anyway but this should get more attention. To answer your question I think the subsciber count has been hidden by the creator in the youtube channel settings.
He is my favorite photographer of all time. A great source of inspiration in many ways. Your video summarizes his work in a great way ! I hope you do other videos ❤👍
