Phil, love these "room tour" chats. Simple sensible advice👍
Since sleep and performance go hand in hand - should we brace for advice in the form of a "bedroom chat"😉
Incidentally, I've always had issues with hydration. Found it to be a chore since my body wasn't craving. Yet after 50 miles, I'd always fade. To this day, I find it difficult, but your right in that you need to plan, prep & act on it.
Moto : If you fail to prepare, then prepare to fail.💪

That sounds expensive, unless you're sponsored and get your bars and recovery drinks for free.
    Just bars alone:
36hr week (way too intense for me, but some guys probably do that), 1 bar per hour, equals 2x18 bar mixed pack from pickybar, $90....
Personally I'd probably manage about 10hrs/week max. That's still $27,50... A recovery drink would set me back $3,50, so all in all 4 rides, 10 hrs/week $41,50.
So would be good to have some recipes which would be much cheaper than buying bars and drinks etc. and could make in bulk for the week. Call me basic, but I take bananas with me. They're cheap, full or energy, easy to swallow and eat on the go. For drinks I mix 50% cloudy apple juice and water in one bottle for some sugars, and 100% water in the other.
Post ride I try to eat something soon after or make a smoothie or something.
Perhaps if I did 6hr rides I would need to expand my budget or something though.

Lets see more videos about food!! I really enjoyed your nonsense approach. If you do cook Id like to hear what you cook and also how you shop and stock your fridge and pantry to make sure you are prepared to cook for your training needs. Thanks and a really good video.

Phil - how much does nutrient timing matter in real life? Are you timing protein and carb intake based on activity or is it just calories in and calories out?

About purposing things to what I'm doing. So mostly with all the races cancelled, my weekend rides are just riding to a big hill endurance pace then trying to PR it which is threshold. Think Mt.Diablo. 1 hour to get there and 1 hour to climb it. Does it then make sense to break the 3 hours before rule a little? So instead of waiting 3 hours to ride, just wait 1.5hrs or so and by the time you hit your PR destination and riding it, your oatmeals are well in your bloodstream.
Thanks for these Phil! They are helpful.

That would risk being depleted and behind before you hit the climb. Stick to 3 hrs and eat a bar when you’re 30 min from the base, then another at the top to get you home

Elliot Fleming no mate, I don’t think that, I said it was damaging to the sport not to people. And if the medical research was enough to deter people, well, they wouldn’t do it. It’s more about people’s opinions of the sport in general. Look, it doesn’t matter.
