Any tips on cv axle shield rounded out bolt???

yes, aligne a large punch with a flat base. Needs to be perfectly flat on the head of the bolt. It will shrink it back. Otherwise cut the bolt, the treads are never stuck.
You can also force a old torx inside of it, but you need a impact rated torx.
