Oh man. I'm shook. Is this the first time we've actually seen a major release saber like force FX use features we've been seeing in custom sabers?? That's amazing! All that's left is really smooth swing and then we have some actual competition going on with saber smiths.

Hasbro is finally doing things with the sabers that Indy makers have been doing for years. Like the sound effects and different clashing sounds and visuals. Good updates.
I'm definitely purchasing this one as soon as it releases, in large part because it's in the Empire Strikes Back configuration, my favorite config for Vader's lightsaber

I believe the battle sequence sound is the sound of the Vader and Obi-Wan fight from 'A New Hope'. So maybe learn how to do a choreograph that fight. Much simpler anyway and easier movements. Would be fun to do.
I think this is a good option for those who can't afford those advanced high tech lightsabers. It may not have smooth swing and fonts, but at least it has the options for duel and lightsaber lock up. I'm sure it's bright in person. Very cool!
Maybe RGB Sabers, but then you don't get the proper on/off blade effect, its like a flashlight with a white tube at the end of it. Plus these are pretty screen accurate. I have never seen a non-RGB saber for under $280, much less a screen accurate/hero saber. Maybe a NON screen accurate/custom with xeno or neopixel effects could be under $280, but even that is a stretch.
Hey james lovely reveiw! I have recently brought one but after putting the crystal in i cant seem to get it back out again,its a real struggle. any advice?
So you can't have the crystal and the blade installed at the same time. And now you need to remove set screws to access blade and battery removal. Not like it's a lot of work, but just seems like excess steps have been added that don't really need to be.

James, is this the same blade/configuration as the Legacy sabers from the parks? The mechanism and notches look the same. Furthermore, how does the swing/motion electronics, sound and light output/color stack up vs legacy? My biggest complaint with the legacy series is the electronics and blade LEDs

Have seen a few things about that one havaing some issues with hilt build quality and blaster effects. That said, my Force FX sabers are more for display, and the Leia one does look really nice
Hey can anybody answer why the kyber crystal and the blade cant be in the lightsaber at the same time, it's one or the other, isnt that not realistic? Unless I'm missing something I was very upset that i couldnt leave my crystal in w the blade, can anyone please explain this to me?
I think you should have put the lightsaber close-up to the camera and then slowly rotated it so we could see it all around. I don't think that D ring is where you hang it from your belt. It usually hangs from the black handle.

Back when Master Replica had the license 20-years ago they were just display pieces. Now they are trying to be both that and a usable light saber. I will display these on the stands and will get custom plaques made. If I want a proper saber then I will spend £££ and get a top neopixel with all the sounds and fonts.

Darth Vader is my most faveorite star wars character of all time. I have tons Vader related stuff in my room. My current Vader's lightsaber broke becuase of my old cat run around and accidentally broke it and I also need a new one and THIS is what I have been looking for. Actually Hasbro has released many different FX Elite sabers with the same functions. So, it’s not the first time we’ve seen something like this.

@@dl11 You can't buy a Vader saber with a xeno or neopixil core for that price. Even the cheap ones an Aliexpress start at $360.

I don’t think these Black Series sabers are strong enough for duelling. I still foresee one or some of the LEDs breaking in the blade.

I wonder why Hasbro's way of inserting and removing the blade seems more complicated than the ones in the Disney Parks.
This is such a big improvement on the FX elite line of sabers, only thing left to improve on is the swing effects. Good job James

I just got the legacy vader and are there to letter engravings on it in the movies or is some dumb serial code thing

I’m pretty sure this is the first ever Force FX Elite saber to some with a belt clip. That’s one nice feature about it. Great review James!!

I got a dooku legacy lightsaber a couple weeks ago and the ignition button’s coat of metal is peeling do you know how I could fix it?

Why are the wires on your force fx elite Darth Vader lightsaber the wrong colors? Everyone else's goes: red, brown, white, blue, white.

While I do like the older hilt, I've always preferred the RoTJ Vader hilt, sucks they never do that version outside of the old telescopic Toys.
