a useful tip for newer players: picking up your tech scraps (the thing you leave behind when you die) will heal you to full. this is very useful when fighting bosses if you keep dying there since it acts like a backup heal.
This game is fucking amazing. Easily one of, if not the best souls-like game I’ve ever played. Can’t believe this gem is just chilling on gamespass. Love the difficulty, love the crunchy and satisfying combat, love the boss fights, I really can’t get enough!
Another useful thing to know: If you screw up something, you do have a second chance. In the save slot screen, there is a revert option when hovering over a save. This resets you back to the last time you rested at a medbay, I have tested if respawning at one counts as your rest save, and it seems to only count if you actually go into the medbay. I tested this by leaving with 1000 scrap, dying, and then dying again to lose it permanently. When I reverted, I was at the medbay with 1000 scrap in my inventory. This means that if you die during the one off ambushes that occur after the event that sets them after you, if you quit to menu and revert, it'll reset them, allowing you to retry them, at the cost of any materials you gained between your last visit and the ambush. I wish I knew this, as I only beat 1 ambush. Remember, if you die or fuck up a choice, or accidentally aggro an ally, dont rest at medbay. Quit and revert to reset that loss. If you miss the hardcore kill for a boss, you can reset to before you beat them so long as you don't rest afterwards, you can retry them. Also kinda acts as a way to replay your favorite boss. I feel that they added this due to a few significant quests (one that has one of the few v5 health implants)in the original, which can be screwed up if an enemy misses you and hits an npc or vice versa, which causes permanent aggro and ruins it. 2 of the biggest quests with the best rewards can be ruined due to npc proximity to enemies at a point where you've already gone through almost half the game, so this may be a workaround (have yet to see if they added the feature to the original). Another way you could use this is if you die while carrying alot of scrap. Rest. Then try to reach it. If you die, revert, and you can try again and save yourself a serious loss of time. Also your background that you choose does have a small effect on your game. Some NPCs will sell you certain implants based on your character's background. The one I got with field technician is deflection auto defender, from dr sorrenson later in the game(also available as search and rescue specialist). It is a strange one. It has the bonus of both the deflection auto healer (+20 health on defelct) and the deflection hardener (+250 defense, +350 elemental defense), but doesn't stack with the hardener, mwaning you can't get +500 defense. It does stack with the healer however, giving you a total of 40 health on deflect. So, if you want the best deflect returns, go field technician, or one of the others that may get it. Searh and rescue has 2. This one from sorenson and molly can also give you an implant. best to experiment or look up which backgrounds give you what implants.
Directional block analyzer is much tougher to use if you play inverted. This is mostly due to the input action not matching the display direction. It was breaking my brain
so im on mainly MK 5 stuff.. and i kill the hound enemy which is a level 7 but i cant seem to farm any useful parts from him ? do i have to wait till after killing ezra to find any enemies on level 6?
I can't get the directional block down from bosses. The multi hits mess me up and timing is bad I block too early. I'm at the 3 emp area. That boss been whooping my ass. That electrical ground stun and not timing the block. Plus before I get there I'm nearly dead from the outside enemies.
lol i just came back from killing enemy's with this parry mechanic, i love it it's way better than dark souls, i'm good with gameplay but so bad with RPG xD. so i'm trying to understand the upgrade menu lol.
the only thing i hate about this game's parry is that most enemies have the most unnatural movement. so when they wind up to attack its so awkward. mainly the 2nd boss guy with the hammer. animations in these game are poo.
Free on playstation now-brilliant game but I’m finding the inventory confusing.Takes time to learn I suppose, plus I’m a dumbass when it comes to that side of things🤪
Don't wanna be "that guy" but I completely disagree with the first point. I finished the entire game without ever using the parry system. I found it not worth the risk when battles are rather straight forward and easy as is. So saying never take off the directional block analyser is just crazy. Saying it might be the most valuable mod in the game, when to me it was literally useless, is kinda funny. I think you should of said something about it being personal preference, not borderline mandatory. Rest of the video is ok. I know you say it's for newbies and vets alike but it's really for newbies. I figured out everything on this list my self. I did play the original though. Dunno if that makes a difference.
@@patl-m479 I just massively kept my distance when they started swinging. But I watching the video, having to parry a boss 3 times, just for it to go down for a few seconds don't seem with it.
The directional parry system is good on paper. But ingame it's a mess. You die so much at bosses because the timing is too hard to learn. Everything is based more on luck than skill. And I got 1000hrs in both Niohs.
Every game should have loadouts ;___; Its just so fucking good kk' (for free of course ¬¬) And ty for the video, first time playing a The Surge game kk'
Trust me I know a lot who overlooks things in this game 1.) Still the same thing as I see in many dark souls players: BANK/USE YOUR SOULS or Tech Scrap, if you don't want to lose them. At least spend it on something useful if you're getting your shit kicked in and not good at asessing risks 2.) Use the battery. Yeah I know you're saving it up for awesome attacks but for the love of god, they're useless outside of combat, and can easily be gained during combat, so use them to charge your consumables instead, a battery used in a Med implant is something that you will thank for later 3.) EMP. what it's just a plot device for our drones to open doors? How many of our enemies are robotic? All of them! So all of them are vulnerable to this shit. And you know what's good about this? It doesn't cost ammo so spam it whenever you want as its very good at interrupting attacks 4.) One thing this missed, recovering you tech scrap heals you, regardless of amount, so suiciding with 1 tech scrap in your inventory is a valid tactic so yu can have a medkit you can use later
I got stuck on the first enemy I hate games like this combo timing all just bores me and I have no motivation to even want to get passed the bosses. Waste of money if you ask me

I constantly forget to use the drone in the middle of a tough fight, then I'll remember right after I get killed.
Starfish, laspistol, magnet, and molotovs are must haves.

That's such an awesome mechanic.
Also note that when you stand next to the scraps it' give a slow regen of hp overtime !

it was just added to gamepass and im loving this game
Me too. Its incredibly difficult though. More than Dark souls
I'm enjoying this. Each boss gave me a hard time but my second run it was a breeze.

Sekiro and Dark souls are waaaay beyond worse than surge 2.
@@PharaelMartins ive done some grinding and its got a lot easier. Sill loving it though.

I'm excited! Currently downloading, as always great heads up!! :)
Sup fex, thanks for maintaining the wiki for this!
Fewer likes but exponentially more helpful than other guides. Thumbs up!
I expected that video after the release, but now I don't have to wait for it :]

At 1:33 what weapon is that you are holding? I only have the axe like heavy duty. The one you holding look a sword heavy duty. How do you get it?
Thanky for your tipps fextralife, i love this game, my personal game of the year not so dissapointing like code vein. What great combat system
Code vein was super disappointing. I just found out abt surge 2, I wish I'd have picked it up instead of code vein

Am I missing something? How come I cant pick up weapons after I kill an enemy? How do you do it?
chop of the arm that holds the weapon
