    Obi-Wan Kenobi made that bike famous! It is kick ass that you are giving such awesome video footage on such an iconic bike! Further videos will kick further ass!

      Brian, the force is strong with you. A very high midichlorian count you have...in all seriousness, thanks for the funny comment and for watching!

    Thanks so much! I live in Rabun county and recently returned to off road/dual sport bike in addition to my Goldwing. There’s too much great riding here to not be able to leave the pavement!

      Right on! Thanks for watching...you've got the best of both worlds with the Goldwing and now an ADV bike.

      Hey neighbor,
      I got the F6B and a 650 Vstrom.
      I need third bike for our N. Georgia trails.
      I'm in Hall county.
      The way its getting crowded down here I may head your way sooner than later.

    Thank you for this video. I am looking forward to getting on some of this on my 23 KLR650s once I get everything on the bike. Looks pretty manageable for a beginner ADV rider.

      You are welcome! Yes, I think you will enjoy this ride on your new KLR. Just stay on the main road, especially if it's muddy. Thanks for watching and have fun!

    Thanks for the tips and review. I’m about an hour south of Helen, Ga where I plan to enter the trail. I might try this on my Ural sidecar motorcycle with 2WD and winch.

    Great tips and excellent video! I live close to N. GA too and recently bought my first ADV motorcycle and can't wait to hit those trails. I hit FS 28 in the Blue Ridge Wildlife Management Area for the first time and can't wait to explore more and camp out. Thanks for the great video and tips, I happened to have the Gaia Map app and had downloaded the GA Traverse files into it months ago but didn't know how to really use it until now. This is the best GA Traverse video that I've seen on RUclips so far.

      Wow, thanks so much for the kind words my friend. We really are in motorcycle heaven living near North Georgia right? I haven't been to the Blue Ridge Wildlife Management area yet and just heard about another adv ride called "The Smokey Mountains 500' so I guess I have some riding to do. Thanks again and have fun out there

      @@lkandlbinder Agree, so much to explore in N. GA, I have only scratched the surface. We are lucky. I just looked up The Smokey Mountains 500 and adding that to my list too! Looks like part of it is Nf 28-1, the same forest road I explored. What a great starting point for this multi-state ADV ride. Thanks!

    Great info. The fact that you did this on a GS with basically street tires let's me KNOW I can do this on my heavily modded DR650 will 90% off road tires.

    • @lkandlbinder
      @lkandlbinder  Год назад +1

      Absolutely you can! Thanks for watching and I'm glad you got some good info out of it. Enjoy the ride!

      I ride it with an old Honda CB with street tires. I live in Cohutta/Chattahoochee national forest right on the transition.
      You'll be fine in the dry months.

  • @crawlersncustoms
    @crawlersncustoms Год назад

    Thanks for the overview, but dang I was surprised to see you on street tires, especially alone. A decent set of tires would make it a lot safer and more predictable.

    • @lkandlbinder
      @lkandlbinder  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching! Yep, I had no problem riding on those tires on the main road, but if you're getting off the beaten path, you're better off with more off road oriented tires.

    FYI: the USFS websites for each national forest - mainly Chattahoochee Oconee Nat Forest - lists road closures - be it seasonal or not. They will close roads with 24-72hrs notice for "prescribed burns". They also have maps indicating what roads are closed. You can also call the Ranger office and ask about road closures.
    There was ZERO road maint during 2020. We had a A LOT of heavy rains spring 2021 - major erosion - and negligible repair work done.

    👍Thanks for sharing, do you know is plates are needed can i do it on my dirt bike with only offroad permit?

    • @lkandlbinder
      @lkandlbinder  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! That's a great question. You can't do the whole thing without plates because you'll be going on pavement sometimes. But I'm sure some sections you could ride without them
