Seemed the right speed to me - but I know nothing - found it interesting.
Great vid Tim! Don't change the recipe! Lol. You're doing great.
Looks like your buddy boat is a Catalina 36 I had one of those I really love that vessel but now I'm looking forward to all I can afford leopard 38 catamaran
i live at lock 11 amsterdam. lmk if you need anything
Man, your camera work all but triggered my vertigo. Please slow down and pick your shots sans the wild camera swings. The subject is really interesting. Ease up on the camera and let the sites do the work..
Thank for sharing. We are heading the opposite way down this year. Would love to have a drink with you if you are around before we leave. We are in port colborne for the next week ish before we take our mast down and join in the cruising fun.
Thanks Tim for all your info. I plan on doing this trip in 2 yrs. Thank You!!
That was cool! About how long did it take you to go through all the locks, once you finally got going? Thanks.
great stuff!!!! are you and Candice getting back together ?
Take your time going up through there. Dont need no accidents. Plus im thinking about doing it to in the near future. But just be safe . Beautiful scenery. Glad y'all are doing ok
Video seemed to be a good length. Good job. I’ just had my second cataract surgery, so I’ noticing colors, and your eyes are really blue!
Pace of video was just fine.
Your doing Great! Will you need to change anything when going back to freshwater?
Great video man. Thanks for sharing
How long did it take to do the flight of locks?
Those five didn;t take too long. Maybe two hours. It depends a lot on how quick the locks open and sometimes you have to wait here and there.
Ok, I thought maybe all day..
We found that the most stressful thing in the Erie Canal was worrying about hitting the tip of either end of our mast on the lock wall. We hung over 8-10 feet on either end.
I love watching your videos but you may consider lowering your Patreon fee to $2 and putting the pretty lady in more of the videos. I bet that you could double the revenue. Good luck.
Hey thanks. Patreon allows any custom number someone would want to use. It doesn't have to be one of the premade options. Also I don;t do click bait. I find it distasteful.
I was impressed with this video Tim, I see everyone is ok with the timing which was good, I would like to at least experience/see the full thing one time!!! Thanks, waiting on the next one bro.
hello.
is there a way to track your progress? it would be cool to have lunch with you somewhere between guard gate 9 and gg11.
Enjoy 👍😎
The Tug and Barge that I worked on FILLED that lock totally all by itself.
Great video keep them coming, would you what the Hight clearance is along the way
Thanks will do. I think it is 12-14 feet
Keep doing it the way you are. Another awesome video 👌👌
You can adjust playback speed by clicking on settings.
Hey Tim, I have watched you since the beginning, the ups and downs, the good and bad. Your doing incredible. Wishing you smooth waters.
I would love to build a flat bottem house boat about 14 wide and 34 long to make this trip.
You should’ve included where and how you had the mast unstepped.
Use to live in that neck of the woods. But never saw from the canal
Hurry up and wait.
Good to see Pride flags aren't littering the monuments.
Really enjoyed that you included a bit of an overview and canal history. Speed of video was fine for me. I would be interested to learn more about the towns along the way. Thanks for making the video. Lady K is the best!
I'll second Jim's comment and add that locks are locks, Once your inside on the bottom they are pretty much the same. I'd like to see more wide angle shots or pans of the areas between the locks and a pan of the scenery at the top.
👍👍
where's part two? everything okay?
Well put together. The pace was just fine by us.
Hi Tim, If you could slow down even just one lock so people can see the turbulence that going up in the lock causes. I found going up or rising waters in the lock , was much more difficult in holding the boat away from the wall, more turbulence than going down or the water in the lock lowering.
Can do, I agree completely. It can get very turbulent. Some of the later locks I filmed that so I will find that footage soon
Nice video. If I’d had known when you were in Waterford I would have brought you guys dinner. There is a free wall to tie up to right above the Amsterdam lock. Has power and a nice Bar and restaurant across the street. Stay there many times.
Tim will be coming back that way at some point
Is it possible to do the locks solo . I am asking coz I am thinking about doing that . I cruise solo but do not have much experience with locks .Thanks
You could if the boat were small and manageable. I could not do it on Lady K no. The current in the lock as it fills is far too strong.
Would you get a catamaran through the canal?
What's the height limit of the canal?
'Classy Lady' and 'Lady K' 👍❤ I think you have the class, as a sail boat!
Oh thank you!
Mules, not donkeys!
Excellent video today. Very informative for those wanting to take this path. Are there any costs associated with traveling through the locks ? Best wishes.
Thomas Cole there is a pass that you must buy. 1 week, 10 days or a season pass. That’s what it was in 2018. It’s like $150 for the whole thing.
Hey it has been free since 2019 and what i hear is it will remain free until 2021.
Lady K Sailing wow, that’s awesome. When we went through in 2018, it was free, but the fees were supposed to come back. That’s great news if it stays free. 👍👍
What happened to bear foot 2
Where yall heading?
Very Interesting & infomative Vlog !
Thankyou for sharing your voyage along the Erie ! - Many thanks !
SB - British Isles
Some of the canal wAS filled in to make highway, hence the Erie boulevard in Syracuse and part of the thruway. I grieve the loss of the canal. I now watch the British canal narrowboaters as they seem more connected to the old canal culture. I was born in Syracuse as was fatherwho worked on canals in his youth. He was born in 1903. He remembered. The Erie canal runs through my blood, in my dreams it still exists intact.
Very interesting about the locks really enjoyed. My opinion you could show more about the locks. Some may agree some may not. Thank you for sharing. safe travels.
Hello!
Nice video Tim Hey when you ever go into town for dinner or whatever show a short clip of where you eat or have a few drinks and whether you like the place or not
Looking forward to your next video
As always thanks for the ride Kim
Tim
Can do! Thanks for watching!
curious why the boats waited until the last lock to stagger port-starboard on the lock walls to fit better. Thought for sure the guy behind you was going to lose his dinghy in the gates.
Hey. Everyone likes to tie starboard mostly because most sailboats walk to starboard when you put them in reverse to stop. It makes port tie ups more difficult. The locks got smaller as we went so eventually we had to stagger.
@@LadyKSailing Thanks Tim!
I really enjoyed the video. Regarding the next video, more video of the trip along the canal would be great. I’ve never been to that area and both the locks and the area around the canal would be really interesting to see. Keep up the good work!
Do you take normal video and speed it up for the locks, eg or do you take time lapse vid? Thanks.
I started my career in the Merchant Marine working on the NY Barge Canal System. I always said I would take a pay cut to go back and work up there, as long as it was back in the late 70's!
I wonder if I can do it single handed. Sailing (motoring) a S2 26 feet sailboat?
Interesting videos. I'm hoping to do the Eire Canal someday.
when you were in town....and showing the area....you need to slow down the movement of the camera it was to quick and jerky
Awesome job real cool to watch and learn. Your videos are so informative.
Tim you have great radio voice perfect for you videos .
Great video to get a sense of what it is like to traverse the lochs. Great Job Tim thanks!
Is there charge $ to use the locks
Not presently. I have heard free until 2021
Thought the speed was perfect. Nice history.
Hey Tim do speak about sailing solo vs not please.
What is the width of the narrowest lock or canal?
No video this week ? Hope you fine and well
How come you don't monetize your videos?
That video was good seeing the locks and that real good
Tim, where you been?
Right here. New episode this week. See the latest video for answers pls
Enjoyed the history lesson on the locks.
It was perfect and we learned. Thanks!
You don’t like being confined.
Chinese boat drill 😜😳
Nice job well done, speed is good
What does it cost to remove your mast and hen set it back up again?
Ben his last video covered that. Putting up is a little different.
Way to Go, Tim!!
Fun!!!
