Just wanted to say we love Farewell My Concubine and we agree it's not really a "gay movie" so much as a movie about old China and new China that has some gay elements in the plot. Thanks for watching!

Maybe that’s why it ends on a flashback of them at the island...maybe I need to read that essay myself to get more context haha. Also I think he was always the more dominant one except when he was with luo haitou or whatever his name was (I rewatched it today lol)
