When I see him I always yearn for SRK being free to make choices like this because I think he too would nail this role. But superstardom is its own curse. Shaitaan, featuring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, and Jyotika in lead roles, presents a gripping narrative with unexpected twists and turns. Ajay Devgn portrays the protagonist, while R Madhavan delivers a compelling performance as the antagonist. The film captivates audiences from the beginning, with strong performances from the entire cast, particularly the daughter's role, which stands out.
What sets "Shaitaan" apart is its ability to keep viewers engaged without any dull moments. The storyline is intriguing, and the pacing ensures that the audience remains invested throughout. Surprisingly, the film delivers impressive horror sequences, a pleasant surprise from Bollywood, showcasing its versatility in genre exploration.
For those unfamiliar with Gujarati cinema, "Shaitaan" serves as a delightful introduction, showcasing the talent and creativity within the industry. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed "Shaitaan" and would rate it 7 out of 10. It's a film that successfully blends suspense, drama, and horror to deliver an entertaining cinematic experience.

The real star of this movie was Janki Bodhiwala for me. I can hardly see anyone replacing her and delivering a performance as brilliantly as she did. Her reactions, her expressions, her timing, all of it was the most trickiest part to pull off and she did it perfectly. Honestly i never expected a performance like that from someone i have never heard of before. Cause I already had my expectations high for R. Madhavan and Ajay Devgan but she was such a pleasant surprise in this movie.

Jammy i had a question to you, since you are a film critic do you think that your reviews impact the people on whether to watch a film or not and when you structure your reviews based on good and bad aspects, do you think it diminishes the movie magic for the general audience when they go to watch a movie, where they may too try to find good and bad of a movie before enjoying the experience. Would love to know what you think on this topic.. I love your content ❤❤❤ Dont take this as an insult. I am just curious as to what you think on this.

I haven't watched the film, although I did watch the trailer when it came out. It had an uncanny resemblance to Drishyam. A middle class family of four, Ajay Devgn being in both the films, and how the kids in both the films were around the same age. I almost thought this was a third part of the Drishyam franchise. Hopefully this film will do wonders at the box office. Fingers crossed

The Gujarati movie version was so dark: Mother and son died last by meeting with an accident and father stabs scissors in both the ears of his daughter so she can't hear the villain's order. Also in the end the girl still says in hypnotism and never gets cured. And the father tortures the villain by forcing him to drink mouse filled tea. So that's the difference between original and remake!

Instead of the penultimate set piece driven climax, if they had opted for a more story and character lead climax, I would liked it more I think. Haven’t seen the original so don’t have that context. Good fun nonetheless.

I loved Madhavan in this movie. He’s done a very good job at least didn’t make it a stereotypical presentation of his character. He was brilliant in some of the scenes of the movie. The only thing which found not convincing was Madhavan during some scenes from Climax. I mean, he wasn’t giving that much of a scary vibe or not able to scare enough in the beginning of the climax scenes. Like I got bit scared in the climax of KANTARA the moment Rishab Shetty character gets hit by the goddess spirit. That enactment just got me goosebumps & I was just drop dead astonished during that scene. I was expecting similar kind of vibe in initial scenes of Shaitan’s Climax. That would’ve been cherry on the cake. But somehow l felt something is missing in the climax until Ajay rises back again. I feel like Madhavan is too sweet n good looking to look like & present himself as a scary evil guy. The names like Mahesh Narayanan, Ashutosh Rana, Vijay Raaz, Rishab Shetty, Nawaz, KK Menon came to my mind while going through the climax of the movie.
