I had my mind up to buy the Blackstone 3 burner at Walmart. The day I went to make my purchase they had the 3 burner Pitt Boss Sierra ceramic. Both under $400. After some back and forth comparison I decided on the Pitt Boss. I liked the location of the grease cup better. The build quality seemed more solid especially the lid. The lid on the Blackstone was a poor sloppy fit and seemed tinny. Seeing the clean up chore friends have with their Blackstone and problem with rust, the ceramic was the final decider.
Been a few months and couldn't be happier. Probably use it 3 or 4 times a week. Breakfast, burgers, shrimp and fajitas. I can do a meal in half the time as with kitchen cooktop and heat and smells are outside. Clean up with water on a hot surface is quick. Surface still looks new. I only use silicone spatulas, wooden scrapers and paper towels to wipe down.
Warranty on the griddle is 2 years. Those that have replaced theirs under warranty that I've seen in reviews have had no problem doing so but everyone admitted to using metal tools on the surface. I guess PB didn't require silicone originally. They do now

The Pit Boss featured here is currently $673.92 in comparison to the Blackstone at $297.00 at Walmart. That's a huge price difference unfortunately. The question is basically do people want to buy a giant non-stick pan or a giant cast iron pan? They seem very different.

We've used this griddler for a variety of items including steak, fish, vegetables ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMcXT6_MuT0hB3ejyGQQHaeof9bwoWPUf and mushrooms and it's been great! Gets that great smokey flavor when using high heat or sear. The grill works amazingly simple and very low smoke for what it is. Heat gets up fairly quick, especially on closed position. The griddler side is fairly simple, better for eggs and pancakes rather than any cooking. Use the flat plates with the grill side if needed.Cleanup is easy and having heat on both sides is great for cooking a large amount or panini press. This definitely gets hot though so be careful with the sides.

Just picked up my Pitboss sierra today at Walmart!! Be sure to check it out. I paid 387 dollars for the 3 burner with the non stick griddle. The only difference is the name and the paint job oh and the fact it’s 300 dollars cheaper!

I have used both and ultimately bought the Blackstone. The temperatures across the Blackstone is just more consistent and holds heat better - also the surface will last a lifetime without the need to worry about using certain tools. It may just be me but the food tasted better on the Blackstone. Maybe because of a seasoned surface?

I own a Pit Boss Vertical Smoker and love it but I prefer the "cast iron" seasoned griddle top of the Blackstone. Once it's seasoned correctly, it's essentially a non-stick surface as well. I've love cast iron skillets and have never had an issue with anything sticking to them if seasoned properly and maintained. But as they say, to each his/her own. 🍔

Thanks for the video, Pink Walrus! (People probably think I'm being mean). I've been watching videos all week because Fleet Farm has the Ultimate Griddle 3-burner on sale for $379 over here in Minnesota!!! Crazy. It's been the griddle that I've been wanting and couldn't believe the ad when I saw that sale price. So now I've been watching all the comparison vids between PB and Blackstone, and I'm so happy to see the majority going with Pit Boss. Biggest thing for me is, the wife and I have been talking about getting one. I'd say yeah, but where do we keep it, here or the lake? Now we don't have to decide. The base stays home and the top goes with us on the weekends. I also have the PB Pro Series pellet smoker. It's a great brand.

I've never owned an outdoor griddle. The Porcelain pans I use in the house don't last too long. I'm interested to know how often you re-season the Blackstone. Would more frequent re-seasoning make clean up easier. I do like the idea of using a metal spatula to chop/cut/work the food that's on the grill, but you made a compelling pitch for the porcelain covered grill, with portability.

Pink walrus, and a very informative video. I love to cook and have everything from ceramic coated to cast iron and love it all. The downside to ceramic coated is once that starts to chip there is no saving it, but with the Blackstone depending on how bad the rust is you can clean it and save the Grill. I'm not a big fan of where the PB has the grease trap, yeah I'm sure it makes getting the grease in there easier but the amount of cook space that you lose because of that big hole even though it's not extremely large it's still crucial in my opinion. So I think the black stone has the better grease trap, both have their pros and cons as with anything. But in my opinion the size of the cooktop and the price are just two reasons alone on why I would go with the Blackstone

I have the 2 burner blackstone griddle got to ask why would you season a ceramic top? As the ceramic has sealed the steel.

Just curious how the ceramic/nonstick has held up on the Pit boss? Still performing well for you?

Pink Walrus, thanks for the comparison video. Judging from your video, I would have to go with the Blackstone. If I was buying one, I would be looking at the cooking surface, the constancy of the temperature. To be fair if you were cooking 2 smash burgers and no more, that little hot corner would suffice.
Now the cleaning part of it ... but you have to clean both, bit the Pit Boss looks easier, but less on the cooking performance in MY opinion.

I just purchased a Blackstone E-Series with essentially the same ceramic top as the pit Boss, I have not cooked on it yet, but I'm still a little apprehensive about how long it's going to last, as far as are we talkin months or years? I hope it will last many many years, but my ceramic pans don't seem to last as well.

Pink walrus well a better comparison would have been the 17-in or 22 in Blackstone cuz they are both portable pit boss does make a nice unit I can see that but also I have the 22-in Blackstone and I just ordered a pizza oven attachment for it which makes it more modular but either way you go you're going to have a good time grilling IMHO.
