The description of the NetDot magnetic charging cable on Amazon warns that the device must be rated for 1A or above. The G915 TKL is rated for 5V 500mA. Have you experienced any problems when charging/using the keyboard using this cable?
Hello, According to some comments, the keyboard tends to cut the brightness to preserve its battery! Is there a way to manage this? or to cancel it via the G HUB software? is there a way to set it up? so that the light doesn't get cut?
In fact, you don't control anything on the G Hub. For MX series, you use Options+. I don't think you can disable the dimming. But as long as you are using it, it won't dim.
Good to know I'm not the only one who keeps hitting the G5 key when I try to hit the left Control Key. I have the wired G815 with the brown switches. I don't hit G1 mistakenly when reaching for the Escape key though. My G815 is so much better than the Redragon K618 Horus. The K618 feels so cheap--very little support structurally (pretty much a plastic keyboard). My G815 feels more sturdy (even with just the aluminum top).
I'm very interested in the MX Keys mechanical, but they don't make them with my preferred layout (azerty-be). But they do make the G915 with this layout. The question I have, are the keycaps on both similar/the same or am I out of luck?
I don't think they are swappable with others. I suppose other people may start making third party ones in the future though. Not sure how that solves your different layout need?

This is a great review. I just bought this same keyboard and I'm happy with it except for one thing so far. How do I get a screen shot so I can paste it in MS Word? Everything I've seen on line talks about a camera button, located above the / key, but this keyboard, just like yours, does not have that camera. I get a calendar instead.
so if I have - just got one last month - a logitech bluetooth mouse. It has the dongle but how do I get it to use the keyboard one? I think the dongles work on several devices
Between the G915 TKL anf MX Mechanical Full Layout (both with brown switches), what would you choose for productivity and casual gaming? I spent most of the day coding, then at night I play some shooters games, so I'm stuck trying to make a decision hahaha
Im in the market between the MX mechanical mini and the G915 TKL. I like how the TKL is less crammed, and the option of having the backlight on at all times. But i've also heard the G915 keys are wobbly compared to the MX. I cant imagine it being that wobbly that it makes the G915 feel cheap, correct? Currently that is the only thing stopping me from purchasing the G915 TKL. I also think the the G915 TKL looks like it would feel premium with the aluminum compared to the MX mini.
I've been using a Keychron k2 for over 3 years and after spending a day typing on it, I feel my fingers exhausted. I'd like to try the MX Mechanical but I'm concerned about how tall it is. Is the mechanical version much taller than the traditional version? I don't know which one to choose.
I believe the K2 is full size keycaps. And I too find it a bit harder to type of those. What 'height' are you referring to? Height of the keys? The bottom panel thickness? Or distance from spacebar to top F keys?
@@JosephKim I mean, the height when you measure the distance from the bottom to the keycaps. I think it's kinda uncomfortable, the height is too much. I couldn't find on the internet a review showing both of them side by side
K5 is "low profile" meaning the keycaps are a lot thinner. That's why I prefer these kinds instead of full keycaps. MX and K5 are about the same for the key travel and the keycaps.
@@JosephKim After thinking for a while yesterday, I decided to buy the regular MX Keys, but I've chosen the mini version. Maybe it's what I'm looking for. Thanks for your help 😁
Nice job mate, I work in pitch black environment and I use mx keys the older one. The backlight doesn't stay on and want to change to another one with constant white light. Is there any solution to that? I think the g915 has constant white light? Thank you.
@@JosephKim Fair, I had that thought myself after posting, and not going to lie, what you describe happens to me fairly frequently on my G910 Keyboard. I like the look of the 915 thought and considering getting it. What worries me a bit is reports of the keys being fairly fragile (the two legs keying them in) and being slightly wobbly.
#PleaseReply: Hey Joseph, accidentally landed on your video while searching keyboard mouse combo. Video was very informative , nicely compare stuff . Post watching your video I've now decided to go with MX Keys Mechanical one instead of normal Mx Keys. It is like that if I don't install that Logi+ software (customizable) then i cant use these products ? Bcz my office laptop won't allow me install any software. Pls confirm this most important bcz then its of no use if software is dependency for product connectivity. Just confused in brown or red switch (which one would be best , also share my space with my family). Please suggest. I used keyboard for at least 9 hrs on each day. Also want know that would be its a good idea to buy this with MX Master 3 mouse. Please let me know about about that cleaning part and sticky ness from previous comment and reply (i click and scroll a lot in a day). Thanks , Subscribed. Will be waiting for your reply.
Thanks for your kind words. They keyboard works fine as keyboard without logi options, but you can't customize function keys and some functions may not work. Brown is tactile, red is linear. There is a lot to research on that if you don't know what you prefer. Mechanical keyboard is a rabbit hole. I personally prefer tactile although linear can be more silent, but difficult for someone who's getting mechanical keyboard the first time. (a lot comes down to personal pref) if you are in very quiet area, you might need to stay away from mechanical. As to the mouse, MX Master 3 connects via Unifying which I mentioned that doesn't work with logi bolt. So, get the newest mouse, MX Master 3S which should work fine. The clicks are supposed to be more silent. (I will make a video about this in near future) as to sticky surface, it is due to its rubber-like surface. I sweat on my hands and it makes rubber surface sticky. May not be a big concern for you if you are more dry ;). MX Master series are loved by many enthusiasts including me. So, it may be pricy, but is something worth the investment if you spend lots of time with it.
@@JosephKim Thanks a lot Joseph for taking time for such detailed reply. Appreciated. As it's bit costlier as per Indian market I think I'd like to opt for MX Keys which you have shown in this video. Very informative and relaxing video. But still one question: which switches of the MX Keys Mechanical are more comfortable to type on? the red switches or the brown ones ?
Not productivity, but Razer's DeathStalker V2 Pro is a good contender in this arena. Check it out! Fyi i do the same to remove functions from the macro keys haha
Do you know whether the device switch buttons work with the logibolt dongle or are the device switch buttons only meant for bluetooth? Say you have 3 logibolt dongles inserted in 3 different PCs for example, can you just use the buttons to switch is what I mean.
Why the hell would they go for non standard stabilizers. Like it was not necessary at all and using custom ones surely was more expensive than standard.
MX Keys Mechanical looks nice, but the lack of Print Screen button (have to press Fn + F7) is a crime. g915's layout is the best, with media keys and all, but those macro keys on the left are annoying and the secondary legends on the keys don't light up so I can't see them... Logitech is so close, it's frustrating.
I've same problem with G-key next to ctrl, so I set that G-key as ctrl as well. 😅 Also from previous Logitech keyboard ctrl key broke, so even the I used that G-key as ctrl.
I've always used the garbage membrane keyboards since forever. I graduated with a computer science degree in 2000 and keyboards were all shit or super expensive back then so I just go used to living with membrane keyboards. I recently upgraded my PC and it came with an LED keyboard which I never had before so I tired it out (it was still a membrane though). The Keypad included with the system was also an ISO configuration and I always used ANSI so I immediately had an issue with the layout and this particular keyboard was worse than any I've ever used before (for various other reasons) so I decided, for the first time ever, to get a keyboard that didn't come with my system. I didn't realize how useful LEDs are as I always thought they were a gimmick but having "f" and "g" as well as other keys commonly used highlighted seems simple but is a game changer and even the shit LED's on the cheap keyboard were very helpful in ways I didn't realize. To conclude my blog: I just got a Corsair K70 MAX and I'll probably never buy another keyboard. I've never had an issue gaming on a full sized keyboard... the people I see game with 60% look like console gamers that refuse to accept that the control "stick" doesn't have to be right next to the movement keys.
The characters on the number line illuminate! That was such an annoyance on the 915 for me when I was typing in the dark. Mine is coming in tomorrow. My 915 also had serious key slop, which I hope they alleviated on this new keyboard. I have high hopes that they've got this dialed in by now.
I'm in the same 10+ hours daily at the keyboard place as you. I'm currently on a g915 100% with clicky keys, using the MX Master 3+ as my mouse and am considering the MX Mechanical 100% clicky keyboard. As you've used both which do you recommend?
I have not used clicky switches for MX mechanical. And can't say for certain as I don't really like clicky keys. As to the overall functionality, I have mentioned most on my video. I am currently using MX Keys tactile.
I'm missing MX Keys test at the end of the video. So 915 is the rich one with Corsair like features e.g. volume knob, but it's aging, and has annoying G keys which will fight with the muscle memory. This keyboard is using a generic dongle. MX Keys is super quiet, but it can't press multiple keys as simple as W+A+G+Shift. Zero anti ghosting effort. It has shrinked top row, and no indentation. Forcing out of Fn keys happens by default. There are some ridiculous labels despite Apple model exists. This keyboard is using an Unify dongle. MX Mechanical is as noisy as 915 (pretty good for mechanical), has no multimedia features (for real), and has no indentation under the top row, and has these annoying labels, if not forcing out of Fn functions that are more important. Also ridiculous labels. This keyboard is using, ta da, yet another unique type of USB: Bolt. I'm tired seeing all these changes. Foremost, the keyboard layout keeps changing nonstop by this company and I can't stand it. It's been going on for a lot of years. And then, as a owner of Master 3 mouse, i can't add this Mechanical keyboard. What a joke. Will Logitech publish new dongles on monthly basis? What crazy key layout will come next?
@@JosephKim hours later, the only quiet mechanical keyboard i found is Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro (Optical Red switch), or Keychron 5 (Optical Brown switch). Since Keychron is wihout app in this case, the winner is Razer.
@@JosephKim get a low profile one, doesnt matter which one of the low profiles but it has to be gateron hot swap, then mod the switches with lube and with a lighter spring swap, and you'll get the best possible low profile experience on the market.
Thanks for the review! Tell me, please, is there keycap backlash on the Logitech MX Mechanical, like on the Logitech G915? I have a Logitech G915 TKL keyboard - it suits me completely, but what upsets me the most is how the keycaps are attached to the keyboard - they hang out and do not sit tightly. I recorded a video with the Logitech G915 TKL and other keyboards, and there you can see a significant swing of the keys when typing - this is a very unpleasant effect. ruclips.net/video/yrU7h-X716A/видео.html
I guess a lot of it has to do with personal preference. I am not 100% sure what 'keycap backlash' is, but it does feel springy and there is quite a lot of keycap wobbling on G915. However, there is almost no keycap wobbling or shaking on MX Keys Mechanical. (I just shook it, and doesn't make sound) It does require more force to press the keys though. I hope that answers your question.
Palm rests. Folks, let me tell you, if you use a keyboard a lot, or your whole life like me, eventually carpal tunnel will catch up with you. You need a palm rest. Probably one taller than the one here. In the end, if your hand lifts up to type at all, that will eventually become a problem. Cheers.
I've been considering all three of these Logitech formats, this is the most helpful comparison, thanks for sharing!

Yes, but whilst I am fine with the first keystroke, all of my following input will be thrown off.
Just FYI, my current daily is Keychron K5 Pro. I've been enjoying it :)
I find brown and red so similar in sound, some keys sound quieter - which would you say is the quietest overall?
Sound-wise, I'd say they are the same. Maybe Red is more silent? But I like Brown's feel a lot more.
@@JosephKim Ty!
i just got the mx keys, although, have you noticed that the edges of the keyboard chip easily?
That wasn't the case for me. Are you saying in regards to the keycaps? Or the body?
@@JosephKim the body, for some reason any light tap with any object on the edges makes it chip, which looks like a dent later on
@@Dayuzx mine has not been easily scratching or denting. I'm sorry.
@@JosephKim i see! well the good news is i contacted the wonderful logitech support team and they decided to send me a replacement even though it was not that big of a deal! starting to love them more already
What's the site where you did your typing test?
Monkeytype?
Point out the fact that the thing doesnt have the option to keep the backlight on all the time. I'd no idea how much this would annoy me.
Haha, I find it fine :)
You can assign different buttons to do it in options+. I made my scroll lock button to do screenshot.
@@JosephKim Why not use Print Screen key instead of Scroll Lock for taking screenshots?
@@devincurrie4145 you are 100% correct. Idk why I said that. Print screen key should be used for screenshot. (in fact, windows has that function)
so if I have - just got one last month - a logitech bluetooth mouse. It has the dongle but how do I get it to use the keyboard one? I think the dongles work on several devices
Yeah, just go through Logitech Options+ to add more devices through the dongle.
Between the G915 TKL anf MX Mechanical Full Layout (both with brown switches), what would you choose for productivity and casual gaming? I spent most of the day coding, then at night I play some shooters games, so I'm stuck trying to make a decision hahaha
I really like G915 TKL if I don't need number pad.
Regular MX Keys has the least amount of travel and Keycap depth. Whilst it may not be the mechanical, it may be something you are looking for.
@@JosephKim
After thinking for a while yesterday, I decided to buy the regular MX Keys, but I've chosen the mini version. Maybe it's what I'm looking for.
Thanks for your help 😁
I’ve had the g915 for almost 2 years and I hate how the key caps wobble. Did they fix that on the mx? Apologies if I missed it in the video
MX is completely different switch and cap design. And yes, it is much more secure.
Hello, I am using my Mac mini for work, but is silly that is Mac and windows switching all the time, so you recommend MX mechanic or G915 light
MX keys mechanical does have more benefit in switching OS
Nice job mate, I work in pitch black environment and I use mx keys the older one. The backlight doesn't stay on and want to change to another one with constant white light. Is there any solution to that? I think the g915 has constant white light? Thank you.
I forget the exact settings, but the options+ does allow constant on for MX Keys mechanical.
Nvm, I am mistaken, no it doesn't have that option. But it does have proximity sensor :/
@@JosephKim so same as Old mx keys. So Only g series have that option ?
@@gkandilakis I think so.
@@JosephKim thank you mate!
Couldn't you just assign the G5 key or whatever it is to be Ctrl as well?
Yes, but it will throw me off for the rest of typing as I am off.
Would it be possible to map esc / ctrl to the mentioned macro keys?
Yes, but that would make all the following keystrokes to be incorrect. Like, Ctrl+C
Can you configure G1 & G5 as Ctrl & Esc ?
Yes
Will the auto detect function between win and mac work for mac using parallel app?
I don't think it can 'auto' switch as the other one can't hand over.

Hey Joseph, accidentally landed on your video while searching keyboard mouse combo.
Seems the good combo with MX Master 3.
So looking for that. But still I will definitely miss that clicky keys sound and tild back support of mechanical keyboard in MX keys.
Thanks again for instant reply(literally noone do) and such a best comparison video. Helps a lot to decide which product to buy. Would love to watch more videos like this on your channel. Please consider Indian market also if possible.

There's a ringing noise and some static in this video. Just a heads up for next time
Oh, I had not realized that. I don't really hear it. Do you find that problem just on this video?
@@JosephKim I checked a few recent videos, it's quite faint and only appears in solo work not Let's Talk Tuesday. I have headphones on and the volume was turned up a bit. Maybe it's just on my end, when I turned the volume down a bit I didn't hear it anymore. Might make this an excuse to get new headphones >.>
@@SpikeProgram lol, thanks for checking. I know my noise level is quite high. That's why I add background music although many says that it is distracting.
@@SpikeProgram I also noticed some ticking/static noise on some parts of the video. (19:40) I think it was the keyboard that is trying to connect and messing with my mic.
Very informative and relaxing video. But still one question: which switches of the MX Keys Mechanical are more comfortable to type on? the red switches or the brown ones ?
I like brown. But obviously it comes down to personal pref.
Not productivity, but Razer's DeathStalker V2 Pro is a good contender in this arena. Check it out!
Fyi i do the same to remove functions from the macro keys haha
I saw it being released too! Seems like it is right up in my ally.
🤔 Only if you can just chop off the left side. Lol
Do you know whether the device switch buttons work with the logibolt dongle or are the device switch buttons only meant for bluetooth? Say you have 3 logibolt dongles inserted in 3 different PCs for example, can you just use the buttons to switch is what I mean.
The switch buttons work for multiple logo bolt receivers.
Why the hell would they go for non standard stabilizers. Like it was not necessary at all and using custom ones surely was more expensive than standard.
Do you mean the switches? It can be pricier as they are proprietary.
Can't agree more!
I've same problem with G-key next to ctrl, so I set that G-key as ctrl as well. 😅 Also from previous Logitech keyboard ctrl key broke, so even the I used that G-key as ctrl.
Lol. The troubles.
Full size seems to be my sweetspot too!
The characters on the number line illuminate! That was such an annoyance on the 915 for me when I was typing in the dark. Mine is coming in tomorrow. My 915 also had serious key slop, which I hope they alleviated on this new keyboard. I have high hopes that they've got this dialed in by now.
Haha. Yeah. It's silly they didn't so far. I have been enhoying MX Keys though.
Logitech G915 TKL - best layout of all!
Only if you can live without the Ten keys ;)
I'm in the same 10+ hours daily at the keyboard place as you. I'm currently on a g915 100% with clicky keys, using the MX Master 3+ as my mouse and am considering the MX Mechanical 100% clicky keyboard. As you've used both which do you recommend?
I have not used clicky switches for MX mechanical. And can't say for certain as I don't really like clicky keys. As to the overall functionality, I have mentioned most on my video. I am currently using MX Keys tactile.
A playful review but it is the most informative of all.
@@Pozi_Drive thank you!

Nice!
True!
@@JosephKim hours later, the only quiet mechanical keyboard i found is Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro (Optical Red switch), or Keychron 5 (Optical Brown switch). Since Keychron is wihout app in this case, the winner is Razer.
Not gonna lie though, the stock sound is atrocious compared to my Keychron K5.
I always wanted to try Keychron. :)

(I just shook it, and doesn't make sound)
It does require more force to press the keys though.

Cheers.
The posture also matters :)
Definitely pass on the palm rest. Tried them and I find them all uncomfortable.
