    I printed 2 other free available towers last year for lettuces off of makerworld, other than some issues with the circulation hose falling off a couple times it worked great. I just ended up putting an extra hose clamp, and that seemed to fix it. One was petg, and one was pla standard. Both held up great.

    Dude I just found your channel a week ago and i have had a dream to do a hydroponic system for awhile. I have been a big 3d print fan for almost 10 years and am planning to start my own system print shortly! I went to youtube to find some more information and you were the first to come up! I am so ready to do this!

    This is very similar to the Tower Garden that is sold by Juice Plus here in the U.S. I have several of the Tower Gardens and they work very well. This looks slightly smaller but I bet it would work just as well. The only downside is see is the small base, the Tower Garden has a 20 gallon base. If you can find a larger plastic food grade barrel that holds 20 gallons or so I would use that.

    Nice work can’t wait to try it!
    Some suggestion:
    - mounts for lights
    - halo / mounts for supporting larger plants like determinate tomatoes that need strapping or support to grow in a tower like this
    - different density levels eg 2, 4, 6, 8
    - caps/lids for unused spots
    - removable hooks to hold in rockwool or coir pellets
    - inspection hatch to check ec and ph?
    - mount for the large ikea DAMMÄNG bin - 27L - because it’s pretty! Was thinking maybe an oval shape to connect to the bin that morphs into the round shape for the tower? It has a built in inspection hatch in the bin lid!
    - hardest part of these towers is being able to take off the lid and tower to maintain pump or reset nutrients when loaded with plants, any way you could solve this cleverly?
    - printed hinged flap for side inspection or lid inspection on bigger bucket?
    Thanks for this!

    Some sort of hook/bolt/anchor points around the outside would be great, that way it can be attached to some sort of trellis or light system, or even just tied up to battle high winds. Thanks for these designs, they're badass!

  • @AngaryGranny
    @AngaryGranny 11 дней назад +2

    Hoocho, keep them screws holes for the base on to each print. We could then use long screw rods, 1 to secure to the base and then 2 make the whole thing more solid in winds. 3rd would act as a frame.............

    • @AngaryGranny
      @AngaryGranny 11 дней назад

      Like you, my tower toppled in the winds. I reckon if they screw into the base which is weighted by the water it should be solid enough to stay standing. Maybe an option later for bigger net cups.

    Hey dude thats awesome. Thank you for designing them. Just a thought. What if you added a thread on the base and a hole in the lid that allows a threaded rod with a wing nut on top. Essentially clamp the parts together. Or even a a couple of pins and slots in the printed parts that lock them together and to stop the lid floating.

    Hey great work, and thanks for sharing it! I am playing with the printing setting. Using 100% infill only increases filament use by 20 grams and doesn't change the printing time. It is worth it to go full infill for better longevity and less transparency for algae buildup. Do you see any downsides other than the extra 20 grams in weight?

    Some sort of twist locking mechanism on the top lid design could help prevent risk of the water pushing it off.
    To anyone considering running the 35L res for this without the float valve refill, don't. In summer and peak production these vertical gardens can plow 30L in a day. 60L+ would be recommended if you want the standalone res. Coming home to your system running dry is not fun, I don't recommend it.

    Too much light in this system for this kind of 3D print material. The original one has solid PE that limits algae proliferation. The cheap solution has side effects.

    Where are you getting filament for $12 a kg!?! That's outrageous... The cheapest I can find is about $22 a kg.
