I agree, I started on Amazon and I'm so happy I did because you learn a lot more in the process of doing Amazon, they give you the foundation to learn about how fulfillment centers, logistics, packaging, photos, and everything works, without having to worry about the marketing and simply being on your own, out in the wild with your own store. Later on, you start to realize how insanely expensive it is to sell on Amazon, on top of how restrictive it is, product restrictions, gated categories, hijackers, there's significantly more things that can go wrong on Amazon, that makes it difficult to feel stable and have longevity on there.
In a time when the internet was full of scammy scammers standing in front of rented lambos so they could sell you their $1,999 dropshipping course, one man stood apart from the crowd by offering straight forward and honest advice for free, he was known through out the land only by the title of his channel Effective Ecommerce or the intials EE!!!
you are paid to direct trafic to shopify. shopify might just take your money and that's it. There are A LOT OF sad stories of ppl who don't earn anything on shopify. They don't sell nothing but they have to pay. it's best to start with free apps and options instead of paying for shopify
Listen everyone I'm living proof that's it's a way with selling on shopify I just got out of prison and I made $306 on my first sell and I still stay with my parents but imma stay consistent and I will not stop.
What about dropshipping? I know you can look on Aliexpress or wherever and put the item on Shopify and once someone buys it you can go to aliexpress and get it sent straight to them. But doesn't Amazon require you to send your items to their warehouses to be shipped to the customer? Or you have to have the item in your possession or something? I'm new to this.
{{{That's fine that you get a warehouse benefit and drop shipping facility. But, what if one fine morning you wake up coming to know that you were BANNNED from selling products thro' Amazon channel. Very cool video thanks a lot! As far as scheduling a quick session to setup a session, will you walk me through the ad setup? Also should I have a product ready beforehand? Thanks.
Yeah, exactly, that's what I'm afraid of..that Amazon fees will eat my profit. Shopify seems lighter on that but then again traffic is a big deal as well.. thank you so much for this video. I checked few others and subscribed :) Great channel! Now the question is, I think to start on Amazon and set up Shopify later on, but I would like to get help and there are tons of courses and programs. I am confused as to which one to pick...I hear everywhere about Amazing Selling Machine. They are focused on selling existing products on demand, but their price tag bites even thou I am able to invest if they are the best. Do you have any opinion about this course or any other Amazon FBA courses/programs?
This reminds me of the music business where as you can sell you/ your soul & your music away to a record company that has years of experience/ contacts with radio stations/ a big bank account/ a guaranteed blueprint/ a team of professionals/ relationships with artists, producers, publishers, attorneys, and etc. Or you can be independent while doing all the hard work on your own in which you'll probably make plenty of mistakes, may not sell as many records, may also not get the best promotion, but you will get a higher percentage of money from record sales.
My product retails for $60, and I have to sell to retail for $30. I have to cut my price in half. When selling my inventory to Amazon, are they paying me $60/unit, or do they ask for a huge price break like the retailers. I can't find any videos anywhere about this. I just subscribed, and look forward to learning from you....please help. Thanks
hey, very informative video! We are a big knitted goods manufacturer. So we mainly focus on wholesales. In the case of our company, which would be the best option. thank you
If I understand Amazon has a place for storage, and Shopify? Where to store goods? I have an idea but I need a place to store goods... Can I store goods on Amazon and sell through Shopify?
@@TravisMarziani Thank you ! This is really helpful. Can you make a video with insights on how to build a group of followers on Facebook ? I don't suppose that this would be something that is explanable in one reply... I have to say one more thing, please keep doing amazing job !
I’m a independent person, I’d like to use my own ideas in my store and be in charge, so when u talked about being kicked out from amazon for not following there rules that was a selling point for me. And about the improvement, there a lot more differences between this two, and that only if your willing to make longer video, either way I appreciate you and like your videos
Does Shopify do the shipping as well? That's honestly my concerned because I know with Amazon my products can go straight to Amazon and Amazon will handle all of the shipping. Also are you still doing the one on one Consulting section?
I've designed and developed a unique product which has an excellent chance of becoming the #1 seller in its category but I do not have the time or know how (nor the time to develop either) to sell it online (its enough to design, develop, manufacture, package, finance, write product information, deal with problems associated with all aspects of these). Would Shopify be advisable to help me acheive the full online sales potential of the product or is there a better way? Or is it possible to have someone handle ALL the aspects of online advertising and promotion for a percentage?
We got a new platform that will make it much easier to get started than Shopify. We're seeing great results that convert better than other Shopify stores that are listing the same products.
Great vid. Your channel has been very educational at a level that I can follow. Quick question: how long does it take between purchasing your 25K course and starting the course?
Great info, but as i understand to sell in Amazon you need to get a Buy Box, and to get there is NO way to do it with Amazon not even paying, so how do you start on Amazon? thanks for any advice.
Great video! Quick question. To start on shopify do you suggest to get a tax ID number or LLC? Is it illegal to start this business without all that? Im looking right now to just get my feet wet with a few products. Any answer would be appreciated !
In the United States I think you're fine upto $10k in sales before shopify will ask you for paperwork. Opening a business in the US is super easy guys. Travel abroad and you'll realize how easy we have it in the US where you can set an LLC online!
It's true Amazon has a ton of traffic, but it is NOT as easy as just putting up a product listing and you'll get traffic. In order to see that traffic you have to be ranked on page one and that is NOT easy, especially now that there is SO MUCH competition especially for same exact private label products sold by a zillion 3rd party sellers all getting it from the same suppliers. And you forgot to mention the Chinese factories are now selling direct on Amazon and they are always able to offer a lower price and then it's hard to compete without sacrificing all your profit.
Amazon has lot of visitors, thats true......but not all of them will get on to your product page listed on Amazon. Selling Products on Amazon has lot of works too, at least till you send the bulk products to Amazon FBA centers. You have to handle the product design, packaging, branding, shipping to FBA centre. Amazon takes it from there. This way it can only avoid the delivery time to the customer. And managing inventory is also a big challenge. Above all, one has to appear on the first page of a particular product category / sub-category, if not, you cannot expect any sale at all. Whereas with Shopify , you can bring the product page right in front of the customers/traffic, where ever they are.
Maybe I missed it, but how are Amazon and Shopify even comparable? Why not compare Shopify to Big Commerce or another website builder? It seems like a lot of people online compare Shopify to Amazon. Why?
What about ebay. I have a brick-and-mortar retail store I also had a giant Warehouse full of surplus inventory. It is probably 20000 items and 5,000 different skews and most of the items are used and some of them are even broken. in my retail store I have much nicer newer items and some items are actually brand new. I currently sell $20,000 a month out of my retail store and average about $5,000 a month on Amazon. But the stuff in the warehouse is only accumulating. I was thinking of putting everything on pallets and just auctioning off pallets of mixed items on eBay. Even if I did that it's over a hundred pallets of stuff. I only have enough manpower to run the retail side of the store and I have tried hiring three different people to run the warehouse and each one quit within the first week because they underestimated the size of the task even though I was paying them well. Very frustrated.
i HATE AMAZON for selling, I have tried to no avail to setup amazon pay, and among other things to get my store going and no matter how many times i upload my id and social and all this other bs they ask me to upload, then the crap times out ( and it deletes everything i just did) It wont accept my American issued id or passport there's no one you can contact for help. I hate the interface, its horrible and not user friendly. I use Shopify cause its stupid simple. Everything that has to do with amazon from a technical standpoint there hosting, storage, and selling area is horrible, I cannot for the life of me get any of them to function. I have a bachelors degree in Information technology and Amazon makes me feel stupid. The only thing Amazon is good at is " If your the buyer" and your byuing something. as a seller Its very frustrating. The only thing I dont like about shopify is it doesnt really intergrate into wordpress unless you jimmy rig it too like on my website. The templates are ugly and instead of using normal code they have a special code you have to learn to design templates for them. Mostly all the templates are ugly or too expensive. I have on my bucket list to learn how to design sites for shopify, but i just never have time.
Thank you, Travis your videos are very informative! I just created my amazon selling account also working on a Brand through Shopify. I have a question should you use the same branding on amazon seeing as the traffic is more sustainable on Amazon when getting started??? I really appreciate your advice and time.
