    Hi Diane, another great video. I have just started fabric manipulation on my sewing course this week and I wanted to try some new ideas, which you have given me, which I will do and put in my portfolio. Look forward to watching more of your video's, you are an excellent instructor. Your demonstrations are easy to understand. Warm regards.

    I love this technique. Would you finish the circles? If so, how? If not, how would you care for the apparel piece?

    • @DianeDezieltoolfully
      @DianeDezieltoolfully  7 лет назад +1

      You could read my previous comment, and I could add an other finishing that I use sometime. You could put some fraycheck liquid all around or transparent nail polish (test it first). for the care of the garment, dressy cloth should be dry clean and casual cloth could be machine wash and dry, I tested it and it didn't change anything.

    I love fabric manipulation of all types and I love what you just did. Can you tell me what fabrics would be better used for the gorgeous manipulation you did so that there will not be a lot fabric fraying?

    • @DianeDezieltoolfully
      @DianeDezieltoolfully  6 лет назад +4

      Hello Tyrone,
      This manipulation is nice with thin & light weight fabric. I think fraying could be interesting also, but for less fraying use fabric that are woven very tight. The one I use was a nylon lining.
      There is also the knit fabric and felt that do not fray, but there are usually thicker. I also try this with very fine tule Black_-_AR0614.jpg
      it's very delicate and no fraying.
      Diane

    Cool :-) Thank you for sharing. This is just what I was looking for but first, have to find the right fabric (laser cutter tool is great but too expensive here).

    • @DianeDezieltoolfully
      @DianeDezieltoolfully  6 лет назад

      Hi Me me,
      For this example, I use a synthetic lining, and as you could see it doesn't fringe too much, even if it does it look good, even after wash in the machine. The alternative to laser cut is to burn the contour like I did on and the fabric manipulation video, using a candle.
      Diane

    • @incanada83
      @incanada83 6 лет назад

      Thank you very kindly for replying. I tried burning off the edges as you suggested but...I've found the circles too scratchy on the arms :-)
      So, I will follow your suggestion and try synthetic lining and see how it goes (without burning "anything" LOL).

    isn't the fabric going to fray ?

    • @DianeDezieltoolfully
      @DianeDezieltoolfully  7 лет назад +8

      Yes for sure but, for this manipulation I even rubbed them together to accentuate it. when I don't want it to fray I burn a little the contour (test first, each fabric over the sink) and of course if you have access to laser cut for your circle it's also burning the contour, so no fraying.

      first, I think the small one I use at the college where I teach was a Ultrasonic systems allow to cut and weld the edge of fabric in one single operation ! Try this link www.decoup.com/en/content/how-does-it-work

      Sottili, tessuti sintetici sono ideali, quello della dimostrazione e un rivestimento. français:Les tissus minces et synthétiques sont idéals, celui de la démonstration et une doublure.

    grazie mille pero mi chiedevo devo usare i tessuti che non sfilacciano ?

    • @DianeDezieltoolfully
      @DianeDezieltoolfully  7 лет назад

      Sì per certo, ma per questa manipolazione ho anche strofinato insieme per accentuarlo. Quando non voglio sfondare brucio un po 'il contorno (prova prima, ogni tessuto sopra il lavandino) e, naturalmente, se hai accesso al taglio laser per il tuo cerchio è anche bruciare il contorno, quindi non sfregamento.
      E potrei aggiungere un'altra finitura che uso qualche volta. Potresti mettere un po 'di liquido da friggitrice tutto intorno o uno smalto trasparente (prova prima). Per la cura dell'abbigliamento, il panno vestito dovrebbe essere asciugato pulito e panno casual potrebbe essere lavatrice e asciutto, ho provato e non ha cambiato nulla.
