The Reality of Hikone Castle Japan 3/4 彦根城の真実

But the wooden ceiling beams are pretty amazing... Hikone castle website does not state that it is undergoing construction or repair. Had I known, I would not have visited. The castle Tenshu was very small & narrow. It seems many people were unaware of the repair work inside. Very hot & humid inside due to the extensive work coverings. Everyone was sweating. The steps were also very modern & new (instead of original wood). The men seemed to find it amusing on top of the disappointment. It was not worth paying the ticket price. Fortunately, I bought the cheapest ticket. There were no signs pointing to the Garden. And the weather was too hot to look for it. Also, I didn't like that there were fences everywhere preventing exploration. Visitors are only able to go to "paid" areas such as the castle, the garden and the museum. And inside the Castle Tower, only 1 window without netting was available---the "nice view from here" window where visitors can take photos/videos. For 800 yen, there wasn't anything to see except a castle undergoing repairs. Having visited other "Original" castles, I didn't expect anything less from Hikone castle, but it was very disappointing to go all the way to see it.
しかし、天井の木の梁はすごいですね… 彦根城のホームページには工事中・修理中とは記載がありません。知っていたら訪問しなかったでしょう。天守城はとても小さくて狭かったです。内部の改修工事を知らなかった人も多かったようだ。広範囲にわたる作業カバーのため、内部は非常に高温多湿です。みんな汗だくでした。階段も非常にモダンで新しいものでした（元の木の代わりに）。男性たちは残念な上に面白がったようだった。チケット代を払う価値はありませんでした。 幸いなことに、私は最も安いチケットを購入しました。 庭園を示す標識はありませんでした。そして天気が暑すぎてそれを探すことができませんでした。あと、探索を妨げる柵がいたるところにあるのも気に入らなかった。訪問者は城、庭園、博物館などの「有料」エリアにのみ行くことができます。そして天守閣内には網のない窓が1か所だけあり、写真や動画を撮影できる「ここからの眺めがいい」窓があった。 800円で、修復中のお城以外は何も見るべきものはありませんでした。他の「オリジナル」の城を訪れたことがあるので、彦根城にはそれ以上の期待はしていませんでしたが、わざわざ見に行ったのに非常に残念でした。
