nice job, quiet engine... my one knock and also blow a bit, I suspect that requires similar job, i allready checked pre chambers, replace nozzles, timing engine and fuel pump, valve lifters, dont need to add extra oil between services, no black or blue exhaust smoke, but smells like something else more probably oli gas and also find i think too much oil on intake manifold.
Very helpfull video, that shows how things (hoses, pipes, cables) should be connected. I have the (almost) same engine except that temperature sensor at cooling flange near exhaust manifold. Can you tell me where is that sensor connected to? Probably to the branch of harness that powers magnet switch of the fan (three wires, two for the fan magnet switch and the remaining one for???)? Big TNX and have a Nice Time!!!
This sensor has only one wire and it's connected to glow plug relay (it goes in one tube with magnetic switch wires together just to keep everything in order). There is another temp sensor under intake manifold which gives voltage to instrument cluster, and engages electromagnet at fan...have great time too
If you have bent adjustable ratchet, removing air filter box is all you need. Otherwise, remove intake manifold (dont unscrew diesel lines form manifold, just unscrew them from injectors, pump, you can remove manifold with diesel lines attached)

Hi, changing the radiator is very easy. Just drain coolant, disconnect two rubber hoses, release two clips and pull it upside. You can also do coolant flush before.
I have a om602. When i start it i have to give it a little bit throttle, otherwise it starts little rough and i have to hold key for about 3 seconds. I have change all glowplugs but it did not help. I don't see any fuel leaks anywhere. What did you think the problem might be?
Is glow plug relay good? It gives specific sound of "click" when glowing ends. Also, does pneumatic idle increase works? When engine is cold it increases idle to around 800-1000 rpm, and when it gets a little warmer idle goes back to around 600.
The glow plug relay is good. It clicks out after about 20 seconds after the light. The pneumatic idle increases the idle on cold engine. When i turn the key to start after glow light goes out and without throttle the engine rumbling and rpm's are little under 500 and within 2 seconds the rpm's goes up to about 900. So i must hold the key until the rpm's goes up enough. It's little hard to explain :)
Ok. On cold engine, for example in the morning, fire it up at let the idle settle to , as you say, 900 rpm. Stop the engine after while, lets say 5 seconds, and try to fire it up again. If you wont have to hold the key to increase rpms, as on first start, the problem may be in leaking fuel lines. Please check the 3 plastic lines that goes into fuel filter, there should not be air in them, only fuel. They are transparent but may be a little dirty so use torch light. Also, the injectors may be a little bit worn.
It starts up better when you start it up again after 5 seconds but i can't see any fuel wetness. But after the cold idle goes off and rpm's dropping the injectors starts to rattle. If i push the throttle to about 1000 rpm the rattle stops and when i let it off it starts to rattle again. Maybe the injectors also need replacement. The car has been driven 354000 Km or 220000 Miles. Can the worn injectors been leaking off pressure when the car standing couple of hours?
So if only the first start is a problem, it is fuel related. There must be slight drop of fuel pressure somewhere in the system. It ma be leaks in fuel system for example in fuel primary pump, fuel thermostat, plastic lines (there are 12 copper washers alltogether in connection between filter-plastic lines-injector pump) or injector nozzles. Did a set to my friend this year, and after installing a set of bosch india, engine started only 2 of 4 cylinders for about a second or two, then ran normally. Power , fuel consumption, almost no-smoking was good, but there was loud nailing sound and this "hard sstart" issue. After installing set of Monarks, it starts like a dream and runs so quiet so you can hear power steering pump and alternator bearings are louder than diesel combustion itsefl.
No, thats just how this engine sounds ;) Valve problems (most common valve lifters, probably) usually occur as clicking/ticking sound that speeds up as you rev the engine.
Hello Marcin, could you please have a look at my OM601 on my channel? I changed the head gasket and now i'm left with a knocking engine noise at idle when the engine is warmed up.
How does it sound on cold engine? It sounds like chain tensioner is not "pumped", you can chceck it by removing the tensioner on warm engine (when it sounds like on your movie) and trying to press it in, if its soft its faulty...

Your engine seems to shake a little bit too much, please check or change the two engine silentblock (it appears to be rarely the gearbox one)
