hi, it seems 2.5mm. when you put the 2 cables together, you will check the endcap is fit for them. if it is not, try bigger or smaller one. Thanks :)

Can you answer one question? Why you didn't use the Power connector on the arduino for 5v? Instead of it, you made one stand alone
Was going to follow this guide, bought led strip and connectors. Tried powering the led strip first, but i didn’t get any light despite being connected to a power source, is it neccessary to use arduino to lightup the addressable strip, or did i get a defective led strip? Any help would be appreciated
Hi. You are right. This kind of LED strip is digital led which needs to get data from Arduino. You can test this strip with either this device amzn.to/2LCeRxj or Arduino.

Hi, I have also built my own ambilight using ws2812b LEDs, Arduino UNO, Adalight and the forked version of Prismatik. It works like a charm. But somehow it does not work with fullscreen games... Do you know how to solve this issue?

I think I found the reason! It really does not support fullscreen. But if you play your games in borderless windowed Mode it will work just fine. Nevertheless, thank you for your response :) Great video btw!

모니터에 제작후 앰비라이트란것에 관심이 생기니까 tv에도 해볼까 하고 있는데..영상에서도 설명해주셨듯이 아두이노와 컴퓨터 프로그램이 통신을 하여 화면색상을 입력받아 led에 표현해주는걸로 이해하고있습니다. 그런데 TV는 컴퓨터처럼 프로그램을 실행시킬수가 없는데..TV에서도 앰비라이트를 사용할수있나요..?

1. 네 맞습니다. 점퍼와이어 잘라서 사용하시면 됩니다. (옵션은 F-F로 구매하시는게 좋을 것 같네요. )
2. 엔드캡 대신에 그냥 절연 테이프로 해도 됩니다.

그럼 led바하고 커넥터하고 점퍼 케이블 2가닥 잘라서 어떻게 연결을 하는건가요?
@@user-iq4ot1pd1t 영상처럼 연결 하시면 됩니다. 스트리퍼로 피복을 벗겨낸 뒤, 색깔에 맞춰서 연결하시고 절연테이프로 절연을 해 주면 됩니다. 피복이 벗겨진 전선이 서로 붙어버리면 안되는데요, 서로 붙는걸 방지하고자 절연테이프로 감아주는 것입니다. 또는 3mm 정도 되는 엔드캡을 구입하셔서 영상처럼 연결 하시면 됩니다.

EunChan Park, I need some help. When all is set up, the power supply is only hooked up to the LED strip, right? Not to the Arduino board? So the board is getting power from the wiring we did at the beginning of the video?

Hey I followed this guide, but when I put the red cable in the 5v pin, the Arduino immediately disconnect and gets hot. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong :(. Perhaps my LEDs are wrong?
could you check the red and white wire with a multimeter? it seems to need to check the voltage level. if everything is right, it must shows 5v.
and please make sure that the wire from USB charger is right. ruclips.net/video/-UZq92TpUqQ/видео.html make sure that connect the cables right side. for example, the outer side of DC jack is ground. and the center pole is 5v.

I need a strip of 2 meters to cover the entire monitors, I would like to use two strips of 1 meter with 60led each, so 120 led in total.

I did by accidentally switched red cable 5v to 3.3V ( on Arduino )and it just worked, I do not know why, do you have any idea?

Hi!. Great video. But i have a doubt. Waht strip are you using? RGB (or RGB+W) have 4 (or 5) pin?
perhaps.. i understand.. are "new" strip (strip led ws2812b). my last buy was a normal 5050 (so with 2 pin, for White, and 4 pin for RGB).... i suppose this is a new model where is necessary only "one pin" to send data color cominations .. right?

The arduino has to be connected via USB (the blue cable) to your PC at all times in order for it to work.

i Just made it and its really looking awesome but i have a problem!
Some leds wont respond according to color pixels in screen, i looked closely at them they do turn on but have very low brightness and wont change color correctly. So what could be the reason??
I am using 104 Leds setup and 6A external power adapter.

prismatik is great but it takes up a whole load of processor power
that's true. you might need to adjust frequency in the application. it reduces its consumption of power

oh I am sorry my late reply. it seems somewhere in your board, there's short between 5v and gnd. please don't plug the usb into your pc anymore before you solve the problem. if you have a multimeter, please check connections. please check without and with leds. usually, soldering LED could be in wrong way so, the power and gnd line could meet together which causes a problem.

Sorry i don't understand above question correctly,
does that mean,
1. LED is already plugged on the arduino board
2. you plugged usb into PC
or
1. led is not connected with arduno board
2. you connected arduino to pc
3. you connected led to arduino
(this way is not recommended)
by the way, 114 led are somehow too many for a usb port. you might need more powerful source for it.

if it works find, you don't need to use the mobile charger at all. ;)

Dear All I did all the steps as mentioned and everything is fine up to led zone placement. white balance no lights are showing. When i put on red, green and blue light blinks and goes off (using ws2812b 300 led)
maybe, you will need to check COM port (port number and communication speed(baud)).
What external Power supply are you using?
because you need like 72 watts for 300 leds

@@EunchanPark Dude i was right about to set white balance and when i try to do that device disconects and COM3(for me) is no longer visible, i reatach usb cable to pc and when i go to white balance stage it auto disconects something and led only show red color. pls help kind sir

Hi, in this ambilight, PC will be the main controller for the LEDs.
PC has an application for getting information from screen. and send signal to the arduino.
power is from the USB charger.

well, I don't have the project anymore because I reused the led strap. I think the kit would work well with your monitor (not 100% sure)

Hi I would like to do this on 5m ws2182b 60/m leds so is one power supply enough to power full 5m strip? I won't be cutting as it will be around the edges of my projector screen
hi, the power may not be enough for the purpose. 1 ws2812b has 3 LEDs and one LED consumes approximately 20mA at the most blightness. So, 20mA * 3 * 60 / m * 5 m = 18A. Powerful SMPS needed for your purpose I guess but I haven't tried that kind of load of current. And there is some tips for operating a long WS2812B strip in RUclips. For example, giving them power middle points every few meters. Please refer to here learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-neopixel-uberguide/powering-neopixels

yes you can use Chinese version but you will need to install an extra driver(ch340)

그럼 usb전원으로 사용하지말고 다이렉트로 5v어댑터로 연결해서 사용해도 무관하겠죠?
어댑터 전원은 반드시 사용해야 합니다. usb 는 아두이노에게 신호만 전달하는 용도로 사용하시면 되겠습니다. 예전에 어댑터 없이 할 수 있는 튜토리얼 올렸었는데 아두이노 태워먹었다는 사람이 항의를 해서 영상 내렸었죠 ㅠ

led는 24인치 기준에 맞출려고 합니다 원래는 은찬님이 올려주신 해외직구링크 통해서 구입하려고 했는데 해외직구 하기 힘들어서 네이버에 찾아보니까 네오스틱 2812b 1m당 60개 짜리 5미터에 3만원에 팔고있어서 이걸로 사려고 합니다.
아 그리고 말씀드린 usb전원은 핸드폰 충전기를 사용하지않고 dc power plug에 다이렉트로 5v짜리 어댑터를 사용해도 무관하죠?

궁금한점이 납땜없이 할 경우 단점은 없나요?
물리적인 힘으로만 고정되기 때문에 제대로 고정이 안되어있다면 나중에 문제가 될수도 있습니다.
그래서 영상 중간에 보시면 도구를 이용해 단단하게 찝는 과정 후 잘 고정되었는지 확인하는걸 보실 수 있습니다.
또한 저 엔드캡이 살짝 부피가 큽니다. 그래서 아주 작은 로봇 프로젝트에는 적절하지 않을 수도 있습니다.
반면 납땜방식은 손이 많이가고 후처리(테이프 감거나 수축튜브를 이용) 해야히는 번거로움이 있습니다.

Maybe someone can help me: I have 266 LEDs and an arduino clone with CH340. After uploading the sketch with IDE all LEDs are flashing for a second in green, blue and rad (don't remember the exact order). I follow the steps with the lightpack, but the leds stay dark. What can i do? com port is correct and baud rate is 115200 (same as in the device manager).
266 LEDs? it is too many LEDs. I haven't tried it before. you need to be extremely careful then you use the LEDs with your power.
What power do you use? the power must be enough to turn them on together.
If the LED turn on each colors, it means that the arduino is running well. you will need to check the lightpack application.
You will need to check the COM port number.
I can used on my TV without computer ?

Hello, this is for a pc, if you watch them using pc, it will work. If you are watching via tv app, it won't work.

부품 구매하여 전부 똑같이 진행하였는데요..왜 실행이 안되는걸까요 전원선과 PC에 아두이노 보드 연결용 USB까지 꼿으면LED가 초록색 파란색 빨간색 한번씩 들어온뒤 작동을 안하네요...컴포트는 확인하였는데 잘 인식되구 있구요

스크린모드로 작동시 led 126램프에서 작동을 안하구요
모드램프로 변경하여 작동 하연 126램프 색상변경되면서 작동합니다
아답터는 5v5a 이구요
모니터는 32인치이며 pc와 연결하는 케이블은 HDMU-DVI 변환케이블 사용하였습니다
LightPack 은 잘 설치하셨죠? 컴포트 및 통신 속도도 잘 하셨고요?

1. 엘이디 고장은 아닌 것 같아보이네요
2. 엘이디가 초파빨 한번씩 깜빡이는 건 처음 아두이노가 켜질 때 테스트용으로 한 번씩 하는거거든요. 즉, 아두이노에 프로그램은 잘 구워진 것으로 보입니다.
3. 라이트팩 - 아두이노 간 문제로 보입니다. 라이트팩에서 아두이노의 포트 명을 제대로 기입해 주셨는지, 통신 속도는 맞는지 다시 한 번 확인해 보시고, 혹 포트 명이 바뀐 것을 반영 안하셨을 수도 있습니다. 라이트팩을 중점적으로 확인해 보세요

Well the question actually its different. My laptop its always connected thru HDMI to laptop. So if i connect arduino to laptop with the monitor off but tv on while its connected to tv will work ?
