to the 2 people above me. Both are great in their own ways. Their styles sound similar at a few points. But there's only some crossover. The rest branches out into their own unique territories. Radiohead songs tend to be pretty soothing (with a taste of depression), while Muse songs sound more grand and exciting. I do agree that Muse has changed their sound recently and I'm not sure how I feel about it.. Lol, if only they'd give us 1 or 2 more rock albums like Absolution or Origin of Symmetry
i will admit i didnt pay much attention to muse because of their success and i dont tend to listent to mainstream music but i saw them live a week ago and my mind was blown. These guys are the real deal. I feel lucky to of bore wittness to their genius..
I love that Muse are this small/unpopular band that came to my door last year and now they're my most most most fave band. I love that many people hate them purely because people just feel the need to hate something to stay alive, to feed their ego. Thank you, Muse. You guys are incredible.
New Born and Bohemian Rhapsody? I don't get the comparison. I don't get the Muse Radiohead thing either. They sound nothing alike. I think people are just jealous of Muse's success and have to compare them to other things to cope with their jealousy
In all honestly I sort of somewhat hear it and I’m a die hard muse fan. I think it’s mainly because at the time they were really different than a lot of things at that time and Radiohead were incorporating some innovative techniques in music. But muse sounds super super different than muse. Two very amazing bands though and I love both
I think New Born sounds nothing like Bohemian Rhapsody, but guys... You really think Radiohead and Muse are not similar? I personally think Thom Yorke's and Matt's voices sound the same xD. And that'll be the only similarity between their music :D. Love them both :)
Don't get the comparisons with Muse and Radiohead. Both english, both rock, pretty much equally successful. other than that, they're completely different. perhaps one song from muse that sounds like radiohead is coma.
Same here, i think only songs like Coma or Uno could be compared with Radiohead, that stuff really resembles to that in Pablo Honey or in The Bends. But muse is much much more heavier, and matt sings way better than thom in my opinion
I find it really interesting how matt says he wouldn't try and compete with Radiohead. I think Radiohead are far more musically talented and trained them muse, but Muse's music is just so uplifting and captivating. I love them both so much.
Matt Bellamy is incredibly talented musically and has, in my opinion, the greatest singing voice I have ever heard, but personally, I don't think Muse's music compares with the artistry of Radiohead who are in a class with Pink Floyd and The Beatles.
haha, yeah, but I don't think it's a secret that it sounds a bit Queenie, though ;). Matt actually said it was like a big "Queen chord" or something, which was exactly what I'd though from the first moment I heard it.
didn't know there's a UK band called Stereophonic (?). never see people in my country talk about them on social media and such. meanwhile i knew Muse way before i paid attention to their music. many artists in my country copied their work.
How in the world does New Born sound like Bohemian Rhapsody? I'm a Queen fan as well, and I've never, ever made any kind of connection between those songs xD. The only one I've felt has a real Queen moment in it is United States Of Eurasia.. for like 2 seconds or something ;p
i have to agree with Kaitford on this one, dude wasn't being a prick, he was just doing his job, but people hear what they want i guess. all i know is muse is my favorite band and if he did say something rude id be pissed, but he didnt so...chill.
'I went to this party, and they said thay did hair so I said 'Why not?'. Then I woke up red' You should party more often x) lol I love his hair so much. But Bohemian Rhapsody? Wha? That's a ballad. New Born is way more rock.
i LOVE that hair... i LOVE that band lol i love them young...origin of symetry is my favourite album damnit i wish i was into them then.. lol i was 8.. not likely..
oh man, muse are such good people!! we must learn from them! new born sounds like bohemian rhapsody (which i dont think so)-- matt: that's an insult to the bohemian rhapsody muse is a tribute band to radiohead-- matt: i wouldnt compete with them stereophonics guy back lashing them-- dom & matt: CHEERS MATE! haha!! and the origin of matt's red hair!!! finally revealed!! turns out to be a drunk mistake!!!
Ah ha! So that's how his hair turned red. I assumed it would've been something a little more planned than getting drunk and lettin some random bloke bleach your hair and turn it red! hahahaha!
The interview's about 8 years old. Back then, the comparisons may have been inevitable, but I really don't think they have to justify the whole 'Radiohead' thing anymore. It's all good. :0)
I agree, but I'm looking at Chris's hair and wondering what happen there though? I guess he didn't get the same brill stylist cuz his hair looks like hell. I keep thinking it may be an optical illusion or something. but yeah, Matt looks crazy hot!
Oh, I dunno... did you never see that pair of Vans with cartoons or something all over them? With novelty socks? He's such a tool. Love him, though! :0D
haha the amount of times I have commented and watched this vid is ridiculous. But i was laughing so much when Matt said that the guy form sterophonics has got problems with alot of things! lol
Thom and Matt sound similar in some songs but not others i think. and a couple of songs have elements of each other but i wouldn't say thay are the new radiohead like some people have done...
In terms of musical composing Bohemian Rhapsody's structure resembles much more Paranoid Android than any Muse song. I just don't understand how these idiots get a licence to interview such epic bands as Muse.
The interviewer doesn't compare Muse to Radiohead/Queen... he just asks which comparisons currently annoy them most... Matt as usual is very diplomatic.
So i think there are three types of people in this Muse vs Radiohead argument. There are the "I wanna be different so im gonna say i dont hear the similarity" people. Then there are the people who find it hard to listen to radiohead so they prefer muse. Thats fine Radiohead is hard to listen to. And then there are the people who really enjoy radioheads odd sound. In my opinion its not muse thats influenced by radiohead. Its just Bellamy. His voice is slightly similar to Thom Yorkes
There are similarities but they aren't similar enough to warrant all the "tribute act"/"rip off" nonsense that gets spouted. I think the "Oh look at me" crowd are the ones who call Muse a copy
@rivamr I agree with you. But it is not only his voice. His songwriting and guitar style are very influenced by Radiohead, you can especially hear it if you listen to Showbiz and compare it to Radiohead´s earlier stuff, like the Bends and Pablo Honey (Plus, you can look up the song Pearly, from B-sides of Ok Computure, and you will know what I am talking about. But I think Matt shouldn't be embaressed to admit that he is Influenced by Radiohead. Radiohead, Are great musicians, which have paved the way for many bands, musically, with their experimentation in music. Including Muse.
+Stefán Atli Jakobsson Stop stop stop. Why do people persist with this crap. Radiohead fans can only wish they sounded like Muse but they don't because they are shite, in my opinion.
RonniePeterson haha, you know nothing. If you feel like that. I was actually equally a Muse fan as a Radiohead fan. So you can´t really say that I am biased... if you have an ear and a sense more music styles, you will hear the simmilarities. When you compare Muse early stuff to Radiohead - If there hadn't been Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood Matts vocal and guitar style would have been totally different. If you can't see hear than you are just thick headed, and I can´t do anything to help you.
+Stefán Atli Jakobsson Naw, it's Jeff Buckley and Rage Against the Machine. That's what the biggest influences are I think. Radiohead was as well very influenced by Jeff Buckley, and many artists have now effectively ripped him off. Radiohead ia way softer and more avant-garde/experimental; where as Muse is basically this big loud bombastic hard rock band.
Have you ever listen to the whole catalogue from Radiohead, al the albums and even the B-sides as well, not just the singles that everybody knows...? ... Well I have, and I know their style really really well (Since I use to listen to Muse alot, as well. I know their music really well too) therefore I can detect what sounds like Radiohead in Muse first album. And even though they are influenced with Jeff Buckley as well (as Thom Yorke was too) and Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana, etc. What is most dominating in Muse first Album, Showbiz, is the influences from Radiohead. Not Jeff Buckley, R.A.T.M. or Nirvana. - Listen to the whole catalogue from Radiohead and get back to me after that.
I was like whaa...? Bohemian rhapsody is a great song and Queen a great band, but New born sounds nothing like it! lol. Radiohead has some good songs but Muse is sooo much better.. Rofl, was there some tension between the interviewer and the band? :P
i love the massive sigh when he asks about the radiohead thing. matt looks soo bored, doms off investigating the ceiling and chris dosent even feature. The interviewer really should have got some more original questions :P MUSE
Bahahhaah! XD Still in their wild period!! Personally I think Muse and Radiohead have NOTHING in common. Not even Matt's and Thom's voices. I'm always baffled by those comments about their alikeness.
2:28 Matt's sigh when he mentions radiohead
Why is everyone siding with either Muse or Radiohead. Its all "Muse Vs Radiohead". Why not "Muse and Radiohead"
I like RADIOHEAD better
Both bands are awesome ... That's it.
I support this comment.
RADIOHEAD IS BETTER
Muse vs radiohead is like pink floyd vs queen
THAT'S why he had red hair
This will never happen but I’d love to see Muse and Radiohead play together.
MUSE AND RADIOHEAD ARE THE BEST BANDS EVER, YOU CANNOT COMPARE THEM! Lol
You can now.
Well, you can, but you can also love both!
Yes, but radiohead is better
Lol imo muse is miles ahead of radiohead. Although i dunno if I like the direction they're going
to the 2 people above me. Both are great in their own ways. Their styles sound similar at a few points. But there's only some crossover. The rest branches out into their own unique territories.

muse is fucking awesome and radiohead is fucking brilliant.
I love that Muse are this small/unpopular band that came to my door last year and now they're my most most most fave band. I love that many people hate them purely because people just feel the need to hate something to stay alive, to feed their ego.
Thank you, Muse. You guys are incredible.
"You sound like Radiohead" Matt: *sigh* 😁
blackbirdquiet me too
Loving Matts hair, voice, laugh.. everything Mmmmmm
"And...I woke up red!" Hahaha!
matt's sigh after hearing "radiohead"
ahaha, matt completely cussed out the presenter in the smoothest way ever. muse are the best
Completely agree with Matt's Bohemian Rhapsody comment. Muse is fantastic, but Queen is.....Queen.
new born sounds a bit like bohemian rapsody
matt "well thats an insult to bohemian rapsody in my opinion"
LOL
I like both bands and I think a lot of people do, all just awesome musicians.
Dom looks like Reese of Malcom in the middle! HAHAHA
JickNonasLove lol
This was priceless!! The mystery of "Red Matt" revealed :)
matts laughing at the interviewer basically all through the video :D
New Born and Bohemian Rhapsody? I don't get the comparison. I don't get the Muse Radiohead thing either. They sound nothing alike. I think people are just jealous of Muse's success and have to compare them to other things to cope with their jealousy

Back then Muse was nothing to compare to, especially in this golden years.
I agree.
Don't get the comparisons with Muse and Radiohead. Both english, both rock, pretty much equally successful. other than that, they're completely different. perhaps one song from muse that sounds like radiohead is coma.
only time ive seen all 3 in one interview
Same here, i think only songs like Coma or Uno could be compared with Radiohead, that stuff really resembles to that in Pablo Honey or in The Bends. But muse is much much more heavier, and matt sings way better than thom in my opinion
i would always gonna remember origin of symmetry period with matt having red hair. cheers!
Dom's always looking at the ceiling! xD
Of course because interviewer is stupid
ahahaha! matts sigh when the interveiwer said 'Radiohead' :L
Un regalo 🎁😍♥️
I find it really interesting how matt says he wouldn't try and compete with Radiohead. I think Radiohead are far more musically talented and trained them muse, but Muse's music is just so uplifting and captivating. I love them both so much.
Obviously you haven't seen matt bellamy go all out on any of his respective instruments before. That man himself is as talented as all of radiohead.
Alex Pack hmm i go and watch the making of their albums and you'll see.
Matt Bellamy is incredibly talented musically and has, in my opinion, the greatest singing voice I have ever heard, but personally, I don't think Muse's music compares with the artistry of Radiohead who are in a class with Pink Floyd and The Beatles.
Come Watch TV agreed - Matt Bellamy is a fantastic performer, but Radiohead take it by far compositionally.
The Beatles are nowhere near Pink Floyd, Radiohead or Muse. Get off the bandwagon. They 're the Coldplay of the 60s.
Matt's shoes are so cute, little flames on them like his fiery hair XD
haha Matt's reaction to the parties i so funny!! and "cheers mate" is a nice way to say "fuck you" xD
I love how talkative Chris is :V
Stooooopppp 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dom's hair LOL.
lol if you just stopped at 2:25 you'll see that Matt and Dom have got the same eyes and eyebrows, and they can raise them so high if they want to =P
haha, yeah, but I don't think it's a secret that it sounds a bit Queenie, though ;). Matt actually said it was like a big "Queen chord" or something, which was exactly what I'd though from the first moment I heard it.

'I went to this party, and they said thay did hair so I said 'Why not?'. Then I woke up red'
You should party more often x) lol I love his hair so much.
But Bohemian Rhapsody? Wha? That's a ballad. New Born is way more rock.
New Born sounds like Bohemian Rhapsody...LOL! Seems like music some journalists have absolutely no idea what they´re talking about!
i love matts reaction to the interviewer talking about their partys! XD
I first saw them live in November 2006, and I literally couldn't form a coherent sentence for three days...
"...and i woke up red.." HAHA i like the red hair...very attractive indeed....
daaam Top of the Pops
haven't heard of this in ages
i LOVE that hair...
i LOVE that band lol
i love them young...origin of symetry is my favourite album damnit i wish i was into them then.. lol i was 8.. not likely..
Matt always has cool shoes =D
fantastic parties in Devon LOL!
thank you so much. loads of people need to understand that.
oh man, muse are such good people!! we must learn from them!
new born sounds like bohemian rhapsody (which i dont think so)-- matt: that's an insult to the bohemian rhapsody
muse is a tribute band to radiohead-- matt: i wouldnt compete with them
stereophonics guy back lashing them-- dom & matt: CHEERS MATE!
haha!! and the origin of matt's red hair!!! finally revealed!! turns out to be a drunk mistake!!!
ohhhh that red hair on him is GLORIOUS!
matt's red hair fits perfectly to the colourful background.
this interview is so totally teen-pop-show-typical.
He says he'd had it dyed the night before, so yeah, it would do ;0)
Ah ha! So that's how his hair turned red. I assumed it would've been something a little more planned than getting drunk and lettin some random bloke bleach your hair and turn it red! hahahaha!
Interviewer: Which of these comparisons currently annoys you most? One, you sound like Radiohead--"
Matt: *sighs*
Loads of parties in Devon my arse.
It sucks down here. I love how they laugh at that question. 8D
So that's how Matt's hair got red :O
I'm dyeing mine that colour tomorrow :D
The interview's about 8 years old. Back then, the comparisons may have been inevitable, but I really don't think they have to justify the whole 'Radiohead' thing anymore. It's all good. :0)
The hair, man! Holy crap.
THEY WERE B A B I E S
holy shit. i had a pair of the shoes matt was wearing around that time.
0:11 ooooh Scott Mills
I did try and say that nicely but you just banged the nail on it's head thanks for that :)
haha the amount of times I have commented and watched this vid is ridiculous.

My hair is gonna be that colour soon when I find a good and strong non permanent electric red hair dye!
Sometime in 2001.
I really looove matts hair :D
Matthew looks so sleepy and beautiful....
The interviewer doesn't compare Muse to Radiohead/Queen... he just asks which comparisons currently annoy them most... Matt as usual is very diplomatic.
thanks!!!

2:21 - 'there was always talk, of things being bigger than they really are, but it's just talk'"
HTH :0)
new born like bohemian rhapsody?? psh not even CLOSE!!!!
Yes, it is :)
I was like whaa...? Bohemian rhapsody is a great song and Queen a great band, but New born sounds nothing like it! lol.
Radiohead has some good songs but Muse is sooo much better..
Rofl, was there some tension between the interviewer and the band? :P
hahaha they look so 90's!!!!!
Well... 'some people' he met in a bar... no wonder he gets led astray sometimes, he brings it on himself... :0D
Not so far... but I'm waiting for a DVD that may have some... stay tuned.
Cheers for all the comments! Hope you're enjoying my uploads :0)

No idea now... the pic was aaages ago. I do have it saved somewhere, though... I'll get back to you ;0)
Gerard Way's red hair looks way better then Matt's.
Yeah, it was; I mentioned that some posts back ^^^
I have to agree with you on all counts :0)
Dom's s cuute !!! :)))
Interviewer is Radio Ones Scott Mills who usualy is ace
Yeah... ^^^ there ;0)

Sorry (and embarrassed) to comment on own vid, but... 3:11... hilarious!
