  • To celebrate the great season of the Golden State Warriors this years and their presence in 2015 NBA FINALS i made this mix to honor and remember the fabulous team of 1975 led by the legendary Rick Barry who won the first title of the franchise (with this name) 40 years before.
    The Warriors won those finals in 4 games and swept the Whashington Bullets with an enormous Rick Barry (final mvp) with 29.5 PPG

    Note how genuine and articulate and fresh Rick Barry is at the end during his interview with Oscar Robertson. So unlike the robotic, dispassionate string of cliches generally uttered by today's athletes during post-game interviews. This hall of famer could not only play incredible basketball, he was (and still is) a superb communicator.

    Before the Splash Brother era Warriors, there was Al Attles' success with the Dubs from 1970-1977 leading them to four conference finals appearances and a NBA title in 1975.

    For those who think only Bird or Lebron is the greatest forward, should see this. Barry may not be better, but he sure as hell as very close to the top.

    • @Amick44
      @Amick44 8 лет назад

      It certainly would have been quite a bit more than his 25k plus. He missed what would have been his 3rd season and major parts of 3 of his 4 ABA seasons.

    I think Rick Barry embarrassed the Bullets. He is giving a heavy favorite Washington Bullets a run for the money in the '75 championship title game. The best ever. 40 years later, it's Steph Curry in the 2015 title. How is that for the basketball history lesson. thanks.🇺🇸🏀

    At the time of that year, Wilt pick Barry and Baylor the best forwards and Oscar and west as the best guards for his all time team plus the Washington team was frankly called the capital bullets. It is an unjust crime that this warriors team is not talked about more when it comes to the very best teams in league history

      ***** yea. his game could totally be relevant in today's game. notice how efficient his moves were before his jump shots. no pointless dribbles. not to mention his superb shooting touch. great stuff.

    • @Crunchysopa52
      @Crunchysopa52 9 лет назад +4

      Wholeheartedly agree, no wasted movements/dribbles/etc. by Barry. That touch and court savvy (Tremendous passing ability, touch, moves, etc.) would translate well/success in any era.

    • @Amick44
      @Amick44 9 лет назад +2

      popeyeisgood Rick ran the offense as few forwards ever had. Later Bird and Pippen, but he was the first point forward, along with his scoring and defense, to have such an overall game. Baylor was similar, but had an equally great star in West at guard.

  • @sammorreale6105

    Even though I was a Bullets fan, it was an awesome series. A lot of Barry's hoops would be 3 pointers in today's game. And they really didn't show the extent to which Al Attles flipped out when Riordan intentionally roughed up Barry. Unseld was the only man in that gym that could have held Al back!

    • @sammorreale6105
      @sammorreale6105 8 лет назад +2

      You can't compare the tow coaches that way. Attles was always physical when he played. He was Wilt's wing man in Phillie and always was a brawler.

    • @trapezemusic
      @trapezemusic 4 года назад +2

      Sadly, his personality and "say what is on my mind" attitude, turned-off many players, so much so that he finished THIRD in the MVP voting this season because the players were the voters. He would have definitely finished first (and rightly so) If the sportswriters did the voting. The players had no say in selecting the post season MVP which Barry won handily.
