What size where the cake slabs? And what brand did you use for your lava colours. I cannot get these colours with any brand I've tried in Australia including americolour
I used a 9”x13” cake pan to bake all my layers then stacked em up and carved them and my colors are all Wilton for this cake. Add a little white food color to your icing before you add your gel colors and they will pop!

How long did it take you to make this cake?
Including bake time, I worked on this for a solid two days. The T-Rex took about 3 hours alone plus drying time. The other dinosaur's didn't take quite as long but I like to take my time with figures. I also like to use a food dehydrator to dry out things like leaves and tree trunks to help cut down on prep time. Don't put a dinosaur in it to dry tho...It will melt😆
