Was it really fantastic though? Before "Chernobyl", these are his movies as a writer:
      Scary Movie 3
      Scary Movie 4
      Superhero Movie
      The Hangover Part II
      The Hangover Part III
      Identity Thief
      The Huntsman: Winter's War
These all range from crap to just barely not crap. Did he get lucky with his dramas, or is he just better at serious dramas?
Either way, nothing in that resume suggests that a Borderlands movie from him would've been any good.

The theater, however, was definitely doing modern theater things, as there was some audio bleed in from the next screen during some of the more quiet moments, and my brother was annoyed by a dude to his left that was mumbling throughout (and even I noticed that he was on his phone during the entre’acte after intermission).

I truly cannot understand why 'It Ends with Us' is so damn popular. Up here in Canada, I decided to go to the websites of my local theater chains today and check out the seat previews as it will show how many tickets have been sold so far for what time screenings. This movie is selling more tickets per screening than Deadpool and Wolverine. I thought it was crazy when I saw the cineplex at a popular mall had a 260+ seat screening room nearly sold out today outside the first couple of rows. However I later checked out a smaller theater which only had one massive screen room that's nearly 500 seats (a little over 470 to be more specific), and this movie nearly selling out the entire theater outside the first few rows! Still a few hours before the actual showing, so maybe it can get a near sold out 470+ seat theater.

My guess would be the other way around - though the wider audience for Inside Out 2 may end up saving it.

LEGEND OF ZELDA will only stand a chance if Wes Ball works as a producer
It's the only way he can save it from AVI ARAD
Because that's how Phil Lord and Chris Miller made Spiderverse work

I would imagine Nintendo negotiated themselves final approval over all creative decisions as part of the film's development.
Doesn't guarantee the movie will turn out great, but it should prevent any one person from making questionable creative decisions.

Saw Trap and Didi this weekend. Had a lot of fun with Trap. It's very Shyamalanish, and far from a masterpiece, but I enjoy his style. Didi was a whole lot less fun. Basically a concentrated dose of every childhood memory that comes back to you as you're falling asleep to make you cringe out of your skin.

Borderlands opening behind week 3 of a superhero movie, the opening of a romantic drama (how often do we see those in cinemas?!), and week 4 of a legacy sequel is...bad. With a capital BAD.

Whenever someone says "just turn off your brain and enjoy the movie" I think they must have the lowest standards (or none at all) and never think for themselves. I never take them seriously once they blurt out that nonsense.

We watched Jessica Alba's Trigger Warning last night. That was the best of the over-priced Netflix blockbuster action "films". Better than Red Notice or the one with Chris Evans & Ryan Gosling.

It Ends With Us will certainly be summers 9th movie past $100M domestic. Alien maybe the 10th. A slow summer for 100M grossers , especially conpared to 2023 which had 13 movies make the mark. If its a valid excuse, strikes slowed down the releqse schedule

While I thought Borderlands wasn't as bad I expected, lowered expectations helped. I can say it did something positive for me in that it restored my faith in humanity. A father and two kids sat in front of me, both kids looked younger than 6 or 7 and they were angels, not a peep out of them while the film played. I can now use them as an example to call out adults.
Also caught Cuckoo (not as good as expected), but decent. Then caught Lawrence of Arabia, a classic.

I saw DvW a second time with my daughter, people had ruined the Gambit surprise. We are Cajun people, so she nearly died when Channing Tatum dropped the swamp french.
Edit: The audience was on Thursday night, half adults, and half boomers.

25:30 One of the reasons Sing Sing is so slow on the rollout is because A24 REALLY wants to build good word of mouth with it. It's considered to be a front runner for next years Academy Award's and could very well win Best Picture if nothing else surprises and A24 plays their cards right.
