  • If you can imagine it, you can accomplish it. I am usually called the lefty or southpaw calligrapher, but many months ago, I set out to do the seemingly impossible - train myself to script with my right hand. I am naturally a pure lefty and not ambidextrous - I had never held the pen in my right hands before. Many people even tried to talk me out of this impossible stunt due to the apparent orientation of my brain. But there isn't anything practice can't solve. What drove me to do this? I was perfectly comfortable writing with my left hand, but being a teacher of the art and having 95% of my students right handed, a part of me felt having the ability to teach with my right hand would be a tremendous asset. Essentially, I learned calligraphy from scratch twice and it was an enlightening experience to say the least. I would still say there are still miles to go for my right hand to catch up to my left and before I can actually start teaching with my right hand, but Alhamdulillah I am very pleased with the progress and having my first video demonstrating my right handed calligraphy is definitely a milestone.
The text of of the calligraphy is suited to the context of this post: Haza min fadli Rabbi - "this is from the Grace of God".
Truly it wouldn't have been possible if He didn't will it.

Mash'allah! It is amazing. Far better than I have done with my dominant hand, keep up the great work!
