  • I was at home for break and I was bored so I converted my nitro powered skateboard into a dual motor electric skateboard.
    Lessons learned:
    -need more thrust
    Potential solutions:
    -more motors
    -higher kv motors (700kv+)
    -higher pitch props
    -higher voltage batteries (6s-10s)
Here are the specs of my setup:
    Engine: 1.5cc Nitro Engine
    Motors: SK3 4250 350kv
    Battery: Turnigy 4s 4000mah 20-30C
    Gas Propeller: 11x10
    Electric Propeller: 12x4.5
If you want to build your own, use HIGHER KV motors and propellers with HIGHER PITCHES. Sorry mine is not a great example :(

Always a hero in my book. Maybe add a handheld prop as well. Just mount it on a cordless drill.

Even you are not satisfied because it did not give the power you want. The idea is very beautiful. I think you're a smart guy.

When i saw this video I thought it was some sort of joke...I was pleased to learn that it was actually a serious attempt, even if it was doomed to fail on a practical level.
I wouldn't be surprised if we have just discovered the reincarnation of Leonardo Di Vinci. Thanks for Sharing😉

If your actually gonna use this I would recommend putting a fan guard on it

I love the quote about wasted time :)) what about (a more powerful motor with more batteries) or a different propeller type (with a guard) any way. This is so cool!

I would try, re-spacing the motors, one in front of each other (to move them closer) and counter rotating the props (@depending on the hemisphere). increase rotation speed just before cavitation of the air emanating from tip speed, of the props.

get a 50cc bicycle motor or a weed whacker motor and put a para motor blade on it and thatl get ya goin

Hey love the Optimism, something I wouldn’t have. Also not many people can say “I made a gas and eletric windbind powered skatebaord and let alone work.” So the best thing to do is to keep trying because, I must say I would want one... Then ignore the warning lable for staying away from the propelers and end up hurting my self. But hey, Chicks Dig Scars.

cant believe how inefficient it is to move the skateboard by air than via belts

If you use 4 blade propellers you get more thrust

Maybe if you angled the propeller and the ground it would work better

DID YOU TRY UP HILL TEMP OVR VOLTING YOUR MOTORS!!?? SHORT TERM OVER VOLTING GIVES YOU MORE POWER WITHOUT HURTING YOUR MOTORS FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME, IT WORKS REALLY I DO IT ON MY WHEEL CHAIR, JUST SAYING OLD ONE LEGGED JOSEPH T RETIRED NAVY

Switch the fan direction. Push don't pull

Also ducted would be a marked improvement since there is no major change in directional velocity.

The props can cut you or someone else up in an accident, kind of dangerous and not powerful enough for human propulsion. Put the electric motor on a motor mount and pulleys like I did in my video and make a true electric skateboard.
