If your Chrome default search engine keeps changing back to Yahoo search, it could be a sign of a security issue on your computer, Chromebook, or mac. The steps in this tutorial will first help you identify any Chrome extensions or Chrome apps that might be malicious or unwanted and remove them from your Google Chrome browser. After that, we use Chrome to scan your PC for malware or viruses. Finally we run Windows Defender to do a full virus scan of your computer.
Follow the steps below to delete an extension or app from Chrome:
1. Open the Google Chrome browser.
2. Open the Chrome settings by first selecting the 3 dots in the top right of Chrome and then selecting More Tools in the menu.
3. Once in More Tools, select Extensions.
4. You will now see all the extensions and apps installed to your Google Chrome browser. Find the extension or app you want to uninstall and select Remove.
Follow the steps below to scan your computer for a virus with Google Chrome:
1. Open the Google Chrome browser.
2. Open the Chrome settings by first selecting the 3 dots in the top right of Chrome and then selecting Settings in the menu.
3. In the left sidebar of the Chrome settings, select Advanced and then Reset and clear up.
4. Once on Reset and clean up, select Clean up computer.
5. To start the Google Chrome virus scan, select Find.
6. Google Chrome will now check your system for any harm applications.

Is there a way to do this without going on settings because on my normal acc it lets me on chrome but my school acc has a yahoo browser and the admin blocked settings

This did not work because the page you went to does not exist on my computer. I have a one month old Asus laptop with Windows 10. It was a nightmare just getting chrome installed on my computer. It appears that microsoft deliberately configures windows ten to consider all browsers other than edge as malware. Then it was a second nightmare trying to change my home page from bing to Google. Then for a while it kept changing my home page back to bing. Now it prevents me from changing from Yahoo to Google. Google needs to come up with a page you can go to where yo press a button and it permanently makes chrome your browser and Google your home page and locks out all others from changing. I've spent a very frustrating several hours with no success trying to change my home page back to chrome. According to the attorney general's office in my state, it is a felony to highjack a computer. Anyone have a phone number and legal address for Yahoo so I can include that in my police report?

This fixed a similar issue I've had for some time; whenever I opened a tab it would open a blank search tab with no search engine logo but when I looked something up it would go to yahoo. Thank you so much! This was easy to understand and super helpful!! 😭❤
same thing happened to me but in the left portion of the url i saw the yahoo logo, i noticed when the tab was blank compared to my personalized one. Does anyone know how/why this occurs. Could It occur from something as little as an email because I havent downloaded anything new lately?
experiencing exactly this. google has always been my default search engine, but one day out of nowhere, google was gone and I was left with a page with no search engine tab and the yahoo logo on the left side of the tab above.

This Yahoo search engine is driving me nuts, and there's no option to remove it under Manage Search Engines. You can remove all the other ones, but Yahoo is locked. Makes my blood boil. :(

1:15 That did it for me, there was something named "adaware" there, deleting which solved the issue
