This episode is called "Disneyland Showtime", and is the last of the group of episodes from what I call "The World's Fair Era".
This episode from 1970 was the first episode from Disneyland without a real host, but it wasn't without stars. The closest thing this episode had to a host was Kurt Russell, an actor that Walt Disney was high on, and as usual, he proved to be right. Also, Donny Osmond joined his brothers to make the set complete. Actress E.J. Peaker also joined in on the fun.
Most of the episode dealt with the Osmonds looking for Donny, while at the same time, having to keep up a tight schedule as a deadline for a performance from the Osmond Brothers was coming up fast, but they had gotten separated, but they eventually find each other and have that perofrmance.
Later, Kurt Russell gives the viewers an inside look at the Haunted Mansion, the last Disneyland attraction that Walt Disney planned that opened at Disneyland. If you remember, he had previewed that attraction, along with "Pirates of the Caribbean", on the Disneyland 10th Anniversary show back in 1965, but "The Haunted Mansion" did not open until 1969, two years after "Pirates of the Caribbean" opened.

We really did have great childhoods in the 60's and 70's, didn't we?
Parents never had to worry about their kids eating their dinners and taking baths early on Sunday evenings.
The wonderful world of Disney was a staple in American families way back when.
I sure miss those days.
i remember watching this in my senior year of HS . i thought it was so nerdy then. now i'm loving the memories.
Worked with Donny O. a few years back. Mentioned how great the TV shows were, like this one. He told me about how he had to do school hours and they used the upper floor of the mansion as a school room. And Kurt Russell...woof.
We would get our baths early on Sunday night....then all run like heck into the TV room to watch Disney right after Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom with Marlin Perkins......
Man In The Wilderness haha. You just wrote what I could have written were you in my house?
Haha
Man In The Wilderness 12/29/18: Yep, we did too.
Couldn't take to long tho. Commercial breaks were short. Enjoy the popcorn 😉
I remember those days well.
Sunday nights were the best. I sure miss those days.
I loved it when they showed a Disney Movie...
I think I watched this when it originally aired. I was so excited to see the Haunted Mansion.
I love E. J! The last time I saw her, she played Natalie Schafer/Mrs Howell on "Surviving Gilligan's Island". I think it was 16 or 17 years ago. And the Osmonds rocked here!
1970..was the Best!!
yes mate ,they were great years the 70 ,from Micheal Australia ,long gone
I totally recognized Kurt Russell!
47 Years Ago Today It First Aired!
Wow Kurt Russell and the Osmonds I forgot Disney had these shows.
Oh the memories...😍😍😍😍
My parents showed me this special back on Halloween night back when I was about in 6th or 7th grade. It was part of their Halloween specials on Disney Channel and during their Vault Disney block. I only to watch twice though (only a year apart and both times it was on Halloween night).
The Jackson 5 were on the Sandy Duncan at Disneyland special in 1974 as musical guest, so they did make a special appearance on a Disney special.
Great Movie! Love it!
This episode was aired back in 1970, just 8 years after they first appeared in "Disneyland After Dark" and also the year that they left "The Andy Williams Show". About a year later, they went on to released "One Bad Apple" anx went all the way to #1.
I’m so happy I was a kid then ….
Thanks
The best of times, my childhood. :)
...and Donny Osmond!
Wow!! 1970! My goodness I was only 5 years old. It’s look like Disneyland back than has changed some in comparison to today, looks much cleaner and less crowded. I used to live in the Bay Area back than before moving to Washington, and remembered my very first Disneyland trip was not until 1978 and I would never forget the impact it has on me. I told myself when I grew up I would try to visit this magical place as often as I can. Funny how time fly. Now in my 50’s I still love Disneyland as I was when I was a kid.
My wife and oldest son is in Florida once again at Disney World now as I type lol. Twice yearly no matter what it’s only a plane ride away from Maine to Orlando
48 Years And My Mother-In-Law Was There!
Cool
The Ozmond Brothers are cool! There like a super star Mormon version of the Jackson5!!
Some might think the Haunted Mansion opening in August is a little strange seeing as August is the last month of Summer, but I think seeing as it was only two months before October, It was indeed opened two months early but just in time for Halloween.
All chores are done homework is ready for Monday morning. Popcorn is being popped for both programs Disney and Wild Kingdom
The beautiful vintage cameras.
.
Now they use smart phone cameras, It just doesn't feel the same.
I still think it would have been cool to have the Jackson 5 do this show.
tikiduck: Perhaps, but the Osmonds have a direct connection to Disneyland; The original 4 brothers were discovered there, as far as national exposure goes, by Andy Williams' father and then appeared on his show as regular guests through most of the 1960s....greatly growing in popularity on almost a weekly basis!
@UndeadCr7: WDW didn't open until Oct. 1, 1971.
A connection that went at least as far back as the episode "Disneyland After Dark" (from 1962), as the four Osmond brothers that were performing at that time was one of the acts featured in that episode when they were performing at Tomorrowland.
kdm71291 Which is where they were in the episode "Disneyland After Dark". And some of what was seen in that episode was also seen near the end of the episode "Disneyland: From the Pirates of the Caribbean to the World of Tomorrow", though I'm not sure the any highlights of the Osmond brothers performance was shown in that episode.
43:46 Well, that's a *KNIGHT* to remember.
43:49 She's trésole (I think that's how you say it), and she's scare worthy.
43:55 Think again. Stare into Medusa's cursed eyes and you'll be turned to stone.
great video
When hinges creek in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the hall. Wherever candlelights flicker when the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight. Welcome, foolish mortals, to The Haunted Mansion. I am your host, your ghost host. Kindly step all the way in please, and make room for everyone. There's no turning back now. Our tour begins here in this gallery, where you see paintings of some of our guests, as they appeared in their corruptible, mortal state. Your cadaverous parlor betrays an aura of foreboding. Almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis. Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it your imagination? Hmm? And take note of this, dismaying, observation. There are no windows, and the doors are locked. Which offers you this chilling challenge. To find...a way out! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Of course, there's always MY way.
I think I got a cavity from watching this... ow, my teeth!
Original "Hatbox Ghost"@41:29:). Very cool...
CC007 yeah but he didn't mention the hatbox ghost it neither that he know or didn't know that he exist from the haunted mansion ride
in 1969 the birth of the haunted mansion
the haunted mansion opened in 1969 before walt disney world opened in 1971
Yeah that is when they remove the hatbox ghost because he was not working and when they have that anniversary they bring him back but new and improved hatbox ghost i Like him
I remember, this , went, I was a, kid, always, see, world Disney
I think I have commented here before... but..
This is one of my favorite episodes!
Now I would be very very interested to redo the girl's song "Walk Happy". (15:57 - 19:57) and see if it could be sung and done in the exact path she took to get to the wheelhouse for the finish. A remake would be fun!
I always wanted to sing on the "Coca-Cola Stage" in Tomorrowland. I only got as far as singing with my choral group at the "Carnation Terrace Stage" where they played the song "Sugar Sugar".
Does the girl in the crowd sequence at 9:54 have a lifetime pass to Disneyland for having her face appear in all of the opening intros for "The Wonderful World of Disney" for the next 15 years after?
Do the Osmonds still have their lifetime passes?
44:08 I think he's saying hello.
Illusioneers 😂🤦🏼♀️
“You got that people watching at home?” 😂
Being from northern Maine close to Canada we as kids would watch Sunday night tv starting at 7pm a show called The Beachcomers followed by The Wonderful World of Disney and life was so much better back then without any of this bullshit we put up with nowadays
I hear the ringmaster voice from dumbo 16:12
4:08 is Merrell pushing Jay?
Wait, is this in Disneyland California or Disneyworld Florida? The rides keep on confusing me. It's different from each one. What even?!?
Disneyland in Anaheim, California
Kurt Russell is still a handsome guy
snake plisket
What a depressing song

Oh, I didn't mean to frighten you prematurely. The real chills come later. Now, as they say, "look alive" and we'll continue with our tour, and let's all stay together, please.
